Rob Burton Guitarist
[edit]Hi Steve I would like for you to please send all my information I had in this wiki page to my email I really would greatly appreciate it...I worked hard and for many hours on this page and would only ask you to please send my information back to me. Thank Rob Burton Guitarist — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stringskip (talk • contribs) 16:51, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- If you ever get unblocked I would be happy to send the material. --Stephen 05:56, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Why would you delete Vinny O'Brien????
[edit]I don't understand why you deleted this page??? I worked countless hours on it, and it met all guidelines...Not significant?? Did you even read the page? It is about a boxer... so why not go delete Mike Tyson's page, Floyd Mayweather, etc. This is ridiculous they allow someone to delete pages for absolutely NO REASON... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chriscella (talk • contribs) 13:02, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Because he is an amateur boxer who's only claim to fame is winning a minor NJ competition. I'd be happy to restore the article to your user space so that you can contiue to work on it? --Stephen 21:52, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
He is a former amateur boxer...he is making his professional debut on March 5 with one of the biggest boxing promotion firms...Main Events.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chriscella (talk • contribs) 01:07, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- I would expect him to have significant coverage after hsi first professional fight in March then. --Stephen 05:59, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Absolutely...he is going to be featured on several boxing talk radio's in the next week and will have a bunch of write ups in boxing publications. User: Chris Cella —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.5.116 (talk) 13:22, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
I know it has been a month, but it is possible to get the text that used for Vinny O'Brien's page? I would certainly apprecate it.Chriscella (talk) 19:48, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Chris Cella
- No problem, the deleted article is always available. I've restored it to User:Chriscella/Vinny O'Brien for you. Let me know if you need any further help. --Stephen 23:01, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
I don't mean to stick my nose in your discussion, but it seems O'Brien did fairly well at his debut as is evident here. Could be ready for his own page now. --Ashershow1talk•contribs 00:17, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Find A Dream
[edit]How can I make the Find A Dream wikipedia page so that it doesn't get deleted? It is not an advertisement..it is a nonprofit organization and I'm hoping that with a wiki page people around the United States can learn about it and volunteer. We are hoping to do a lot of good for inner city youth with the organization, and the wiki pae is crucal. Please let me know what I can change...thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chriscella (talk • contribs) 01:10, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

I see that you have proposed speedy deletion of this article. I also note from your user page that your stated interests do not include aviation, so you can be excused for not appreciating the importance of this unique resource to the aviation and aircraft projects. I have suggested that a merge with Flight International could be an alternative course of action, with a redirect from Flightglobal.com, of course. Your views would be appreciated on the talk page. Thanks. --TraceyR (talk) 15:10, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- I do not have any personal information on my user page, so how would you deign to understand what my interests were? The article was tagged as a COI editor (the editor of the website) had edited and attempted to create his autobiography, so it acted as a check that the website was indeed notable enough. Simple really. --Stephen 21:54, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- I just looked at your sub-page "Content I have created". Simple. --TraceyR (talk) 23:48, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

- Where in WP:CSD does it say that "it acted as a check that the website was indeed notable enough." is a valid reason for speedy deletion? Is "Kill them all, the Lord will know his own" now policy? Andy Dingley (talk) 00:58, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Krewe of Rocckus
[edit]Hi Stephen,
I recently learned that you deleted my Krewe of Rocckus page which is not intended as advertising or promotion. I included it for the following reasons: 1) it's the only Mardi Gras vacation package of it's kind; 2) it is a significant development for the band Better Than Ezra whose history does meet notability requirements; 3) it is going to be an annual event; 4) my goal was to lay the ground work based on recent press in order for people who attend mardi gras as well as take part in the package to provide edits and contribute to the page.
I worked very hard to research as many credible sources outside of their website as possible. Obviously, I didn't meet the necessary criteria. I think over time it has the potential to become an incredibly reliable encyclopedic source that could be used for research on tourism, the music business, the history of mardi gras in new orleans, and the band. Really, this isn't about advertising. It's more about sharing information, stimulating reliable dialogue, and increasing education. From the looks of it, the band are doing just fine on their own with marketing.
I've read the A7 clause as well as the notability guidelines and guides for independent sources. I tried to include as many as possible. Might you provide me advice on how best to get this page up and running? This is my first Wikipedia page to get deleted.
Many thanks in advance for your guidance. Best, 123murphyd (talk) 19:34, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
The Alchemy Partnership
[edit]Hello, the page was deleted due to ((A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content))
Is there anyway I could edit it to make it more significant. Could you give suggestions or examples of what would it take for a company to be considered significant? (Eldon87 (talk) 06:35, 12 January 2011 (UTC))
Hi. could you userfy the wiki so I can work on it or should I just start a new page? On the talk page contesting speedy deletions I had provided multiple links to several notable magazines which had published multiple articles on the company. Should these have been included? Thank you. (Eldon87 (talk) 03:39, 13 January 2011 (UTC))
- I'll userfy it to User:Eldon87/The Alchemy Partnership for you to work on. --Stephen 04:20, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi again, I've referenced the information out properly. Is there anything else for me to update? (Eldon87 (talk) 06:06, 13 January 2011 (UTC))
Hi Stephen, could you take a look at the page again? is it okay to be posted on wikipedia now? (203.125.0.246 (talk) 02:29, 14 January 2011 (UTC))
- Have you measured against WP:ORG for organisation notability guidelines? The coverage in the references does not seem particularly deep. --Stephen 02:46, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi, looking at the guidelines it states that "If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources should be cited to establish notability." - if that is another way to cancel the depth issue do my references suffice or should I get more references?
Hi stephen, could you please reply? (203.125.0.246 (talk) 01:57, 17 January 2011 (UTC))
(203.125.0.246 (talk) 04:07, 14 January 2011 (UTC))
- Multiple sources can somewhat offset a lack of deep coverage, but multiple cases of trivial or incidental coverage is not likely to meet the requirements. Do you have a conflict of interest, WP:COI, in getting the article published? Are you connected with the organisation? Stephen 02:07, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I'm interning there and I thought it would be nice if my company could be on wiki. I see your point regarding the triviality of sources. I'll try editing it again if any article publishes anything substantial on Alchemy. Thanks for everything, you've been very patient with a first time editor. Goodbye for now. question
[edit]http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_Sri_Lankan_American, keep or delete? I don't know. Seems like a very incomplete list. There are thousands of Sri Lankans in the USA. What about list of Black Americans or White Americans? I ask you for advice, not to argue. Note that I did not put this article up for AFD because I seek an opinion, like yours. Madrid 2020 (talk) 21:25, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Eduardo and his Brazilian Aeroplane
[edit]A while ago a group of Brazilian Aeroplane fans noted that it would be good to have an English wiki about the band even if the band is mostly famous in Nordic countries so far but many of the fans are foreigners and they would love to read the basics info in English. So, why has this article been deleted in a speedy manner? We organised a group of people for adding more info and now there is no article at all now. The band is famous in Finland and has released singles and albums, been covered in radio and television... it is not against the guidelines really and the Finnish wiki is existing as well. Also the band music is available all over the world. 82.181.126.203 (talk) 12:24, 17 January 2011 (UTC) Krisse 82.181.126.203 (talk) 12:24, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- Have a look at WP:BAND regarding our inclusion criteria for bands on the english wiki. --Stephen 01:39, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Stephen! I appreciate your kind answer. So, we read the WP:BAND again and atleast one should be met in the criteria and we found plenty of criteria met:
- Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1]
http://www.keysandchords.com/cd-eduardo-and-his-brazilian-aeroplane-simetria-bo-kasper-in-brazil.html (in Dutch) http://www.hs.fi/kulttuuri/levyt/artikkeli/Eduardo+Domingues+de+Jesus+Simetria+Bo+Kasper+in+Brazil/HS20101128SI1KU05496 (the main newspaper and the biggest influence on culture reviews in Finland) http://www.ts.fi/online/viihde/176872.html (about the project of translating Swedish megastar Bo Kasper in Portuguese by Brazilian Aeroplane) http://www.maailmakylassa.fi/english/info/history/artists_1995-2010#E (Listed as Helsinki International "World Village Festival") http://saveawil.blogspot.com/2011/01/greek-new-years-day-world-in-ldn-1-jan.html (DJ Ritu, BBC radio playlist 1st of January 2011)
- This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following:
- Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart.
http://www.music-chart.info/artist/76505/Eduardo-and-His-Brazilian-Aeroplane (music chart info for the song "Zero e um", 67 times appeared on the list!) http://www.brasil.fi/topten/ (the album appeared as number one in the end of November and the beginning of December)
- Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read WP:BLP1E and WP:BIO1E for further clarifications)
- Has been the subject of a half-hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network.
- has been several times in tv for YLE, MTV3 and Finnish radios http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8emY_g-cPZE (MTV3 interview, summer 2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySsvBI7UA9Q (part of the YLE pixel documentary, restricted by the copyright laws; this link can't be put in wikipedia but we got it from BA people in order to show you the appearances)

- No problem on the double posting, I'd recommend having a look at WP:BAND for inclusion criteria on bands. We tend to be rather stringent as many non-notable bands try to create their pages here. Stephen 21:59, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- I understand and accept the stringent approach, but in my second attempt I added two references - and if you would like me to, I could add 15. - I can't approve versions nor prevent anyone else deleting. If you truly think that the article meets notability requirements, and the guidelines in WP:BAND then you are welcome to move it to the mainspace. In its current state (lots of redlinks, nothing really aserting notability, no notability for the members, no record label) I think it will be put up for deletion again. --Stephen 00:49, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Notable Company in Beijing
[edit]Stephen, I was a little shocked to find out this morning (in China) that the page I had put up yesterday was deleted already... speedy work indeed. I took some of the material from our promotional material, and I can see why you might think it was a cheap ad, however I would like to appeal in the name of notability. The page was not finished, but contains real information about an existing company that provides training all across China. I think perhaps you are concerned that our webpage is down (currently in discussion with the server provider...). In Beijing there are three tiers of English training providers: the national and international ones (English First, Wall Street, New Oriental), and we are 2nd tier. The 3rd tier are small, agency-like operations of no note. However we have a large following and cater to large companies like IBM and Google, and we employ about 80 teachers across China. If you could reinstate I would make it sound more impartial and add more outside sources. Thank you for your consideration. Wiser2001 (talk) 03:05, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- Have you looked at WP:ORG regarding our notability requirements for companies, and WP:COI regarding conflict of interest and why we should not create articles about our own employers? Stephen 03:16, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Selfless Tee
[edit]"Stephen", please explain to me how organizations such as the Center for Progressive Leadership are more relevant that such as Selfless Tee? I do not understand this. - If you had been civil I might have been willing to help. Stephen 12:34, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well how do we move on and get this organization on here if it is reputible? OhWowTonio (talk) 02:43, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Reputable is not at question. It's whether the organisation is notable. And why have you created another account? --Stephen 02:51, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Criticizing the delivery rather than the point...I have two accounts. Other than reference to Wiki rules, What exactly establishes notability. I feel the references of Selfless Tee were very reputable. Again, I refer to CPL as notable for a moment, but not reputable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OhWowTonio (talk • contribs) 06:57, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Yanomo swiftly deleted
[edit]Hi Stephen, unsure why my article on Yanomo was deleted? It is not a run-of-the-mill software app, probably the first actual implementation of crowdsourcing principles in project / team management, a hot topic in European business circles. As described in the three references plus inlinks from other Wiki articles. (Will add more, work in progress.) Regards, Axor

Dream Boat deleted
[edit]Hi Stephen, just wondering why my Dream Boat article was deleted. I was under the impression I gave several reputable sources as reasons why this band can be considered important. I'd be happy to provide even more if you can tell me exactly what you'd like to see- they have been said to be changing the Drag genre, have been recognized by Pitchfork, as well as many other well known music blogs, have a record deal with a pretty well known indie label, and have been selling on iTunes. I'm just wondering what else I need to cite to show you their impact. Thanks for your time. Feelgooduproar (talk) 06:08, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

George Cartwright (musician)
[edit]Can we discuss George Cartwright (musician), which you deleted Jan 22?
The article I read and cited (http://www.mnartists.org/article.do?rid=282150) said: "Known for holding down the Knitting Factory in New York with his group Curlew in the 1980s and 1990s, saxophonist/composer Cartwright is an improvising monster in our midst. In a recent interview for All About Jazz, Gordon Marshall called him 'part of the archaeology of modern New York.'" The Knitting Factory is certainly important to modern jazz, Curlew (band) is apparently notable enough to stay on Wikipedia. Can you elucidate on what more would make him notable? dfrankow (talk) 19:41, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- The entire text of the article was "Jazz saxophonist, leader of Curlew. Lives in Minnesota." That didn't exactly scream notability. Notability isn't inherited from being in a band or playing at a famous venue. (And the Curlew article is in pretty poor shape too.) Stephen 05:28, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- I've PRODed Curlew. Nothing on the page asserts notability, and I can't find any WP:RS Ghits.--Kudpung (talk) 07:23, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- I am learning about notability in Wikipedia. It doesn't matter if the subject is actually notable, it is important that the article claims notability. Furthermore, it doesn't matter if the actions were notable (e.g., "holding down the Knitting Factory" seems like a significant statement; it matters if the actions were noted by enough mainstream sources. It looks like current Wikipedia tilts heavily in favor of deleting stubs about living people. That's fairly unfriendly to newbies like myself, but I'm not going to threaten you like other crazy people seem to do. Best, dfrankow (talk) 08:29, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Chessta Checkmate
[edit]In what way, form, or fashion do you have the right to delete a page I was working on. I wasnt even done with it and who are you to decide who and what is significant. Everyone and everything is significant so just cause you have the power to do something doesnt always give you the right to do it so it will greatly be appreciated if you would reload my page and not delete stuff just cause you dont find it interesting Rabbit Of Habit (talk) 07:03, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- We have notability rules. Have a read of them, and our guidelines for musical acts. Stephen 10:15, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Im his producer and again I wasnt done with it. Even then regardless of whether or not hes significant doesnt really matter. Its there for people to look up if they choose to Ive never once looked up someone like Busta Rhymes on here but I bet hes significant enough for you. Just because its on here doesnt mean everyone is gonna look him up but for the ones that do it might be nice to have an article on him. But whatever you can be a little prick behind your computer but if the day does come that he is significant enough for you dont bother letting an article on here about him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rabbit Of Habit (talk • contribs) 23:32, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- Please remain civil. Do you honestly belive that an artist who has not produced any recorded works on even minor label, and who throws up 62 hits on Google (and the majority of those are to MySpace), is notable enough for an article? We have rules for significance, yes they do matter, and when he meets them he can have his own article. --Stephen 00:08, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
I apologize for that but still in what way do they matter? It could be a 63rd hit on google that actually gives some information about him. Even if 1 person actually get something from it its still more information they had in the first place — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rabbit Of Habit (talk • contribs) 00:52, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- But for the subject to have an article here they must have significant coverage in independent reliable sources. So because your artist has not got any coverage he cannot have an article here. When he gets appropriate coverage then he can have an article. We are not here to give the first coverage to an artist. He needs to build his coverage outside of Wikipedia first. Hi Steve, how come you deleted me page? Its no different to any other festival page and I don't understand what it was that was wrong with it. I researched other pages similar to it so I could make it look like there pages and spent hours tonight making it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DanowarHealy (talk • contribs) 02:48, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
I will gladly edit it to match your requirements if you simply tell me what it is that is wrong as so far like I said I have just copied other festival pages which just list the history of the event and then the bands as well as give links to the event, much like my pages.
Please could you just tell me what is wrong with it so I can correct it for you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DanowarHealy (talk • contribs) 02:51, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- The article gave no indication that the event is notable, and, as a secondary issue, was overly promotional and not written in a neutral tone. Stephen
Could you unlock it or undelete it so I can edit it then and try match what you said? Also as said the event has been featured on BBC radio Twice due to the importance of it in the area it happens. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DanowarHealy (talk • contribs) 02:59, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Jan Ridder deleted
[edit]I worked hard on Jan Ridder which was speedily deleted. a. Could you at least send me the work I did (it was short but still took a considerable amount of time to gather). b. I didn't have the chance even to {hang on}... c. If it is anywhere to be restored, I wish to proove that this person is worthy of mention:
The web is full of engineers and even companies that built according to Jan's design and plans. You tube is loaded with machines built with no doubt (and even attributing him) according to his design. Almost every mention of current state-of-art heat engines, especially steam engines, flame eaters and Stirling engines, has to do with this man.
For years he has been giving out his plans and assisting engineers and inventors in this field.
Major publications and well respected websites mention him and his designs, as well as controversial and not-so-respected websites use his name and design in their discussions. I can of course spend a few more hours proving the point.
Please tell me the way to go for this. Thanks, פשוט pashute ♫ (talk) 11:58, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- I've put the article at User:Pashute/Jan Ridder. However, personal websites, forum postings, YouTube, and blogs are not considered reliable sources to establish notability. Let me know if you need further help. Stephen 22:52, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Please take a look now. The notability is from a prize he has received, magazines he has written in, and most importantly, the impact of his work on solar energy and heat engine development, as well as the many commercial and private copies of his work, mostly openly discussing their source, and telling about his active assistance.
- Sadly, since his designs have to do with moving machines, the best place and media to show results in are video sites and forums to back up discussions about these video sites. The YouTube is not proof in itself, but the content shown by so many different companies and people around the world, and their consistent (and obviously unpartial) discourse - is a clear indication. If this still is not enough, I can do another deeper search. So is it ok now? פשוט pashute ♫ (talk) 01:46, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
- It might have helped searching for references if you had spelled his name correctly. It's Jan Ridders. I'll reiterate that blogs, forums and videos are not considered suitable to verify references, especially for a biography. However, there are probably enough references to support an article, so I'll restore it to mainspace and make a few tweaks. Stephen 22:43, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks!! Yes, I have even corresponded with him on email and did not notice that. פשוט pashute ♫ (talk) 22:49, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Deer Chicago (band)
[edit]Hi Stephen,
I'm in Deer Chicago, and none of Deer Chicago created this page, can i ask who it might have been and at what point is a page about a band acceptable. I presume this is due to how far they are along there career. As mentioned, this wasnt us who made the page and understand (and support) that Wiki shouldn't be used at all like myspace etc!
Cheers jonny —Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.203.42.175 (talk) 16:09, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Jonny, it was added by User:Shockyoumentally, who hasn't done anything more besides that. WP:BAND gives the guidelines for inclusion for bands (yes, you have to be a bit more established), and an early creation/deletion of an article doesn't preclude it from being added later, when you guys make it big! Best wishes. Stephen 23:01, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. A few people were working on the article for Grasshopper_3d. I see it has now been deleted. Where can we access the content in order to improve and complete the article? --Fraguada (talk) 02:00, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- I've restored the article to your userspace at User:Fraguada/Grasshopper 3d. If a group of you from the company are editing then you must have a look at our guidelines on conflict of interest. The software must be notable. Make sure the article is not a guide to using the software, and is not promotional or spammy. Let me know if you have any other issues, or need any more help. Stephen 00:31, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Stephen. None of us work for the company. The people who have created the content are users. Thanks for the tips. Would you be willing to check on it when we feel we might be ready to publish? We feel the software is notable in that several large scale international architecture projects have been built using the software which would have been quite difficult or inconcievable to construct without the software. We gather this information and let you know when we feel it is ready to go. --Fraguada (talk) 12:20, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Flevans Article Erased
[edit]Hello Stephen, today you have erased an article written be myself about Flevans. The reason provided was "Article about a band, singer, musician, or musical ensemble, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject" which I consider wrong. Please correct me if I am mistaken, but this DJ has published four albums and several more works, he has participate with many DJs as Kid Loco and Bonobo. You can check yourself, just by doing a quick search in wikipedia that there is many articles pointing linking to no article of Flevans.
If you want more prove of his importance in music here you have some links to his career and work.
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Flevans http://www.myspace.com/flevansmusic http://www.flevans.co.uk/ http://www.tru-thoughts.co.uk/artists/flevans http://www.lastfm.es/music/Flevans
At least you should let me know why you don't consider this artist of enough relevance to have an article in Wikipedia.
If eventually you persist in you judgement, I would like to have what I wrote back to me, as you may have noticed English is not my first language, and there was hard work in order to write the article.

Disappears
[edit]Hello, Today you deleted Disappears, because of a not notable enough. I think you've made a mistake on this one. Pitchfork Media and several other relevant music webzines write about this band. The Pitchfork was used as a reference in the article. The band tours widely through the US and Europe and has 3 members out of four who are famous already with other bands they play in (Sonic Youth, The Ponys (band) and 90 Day Men). This is a so called Supergroup (music) and for that reason can never be not notable. The band has played ATP, Pitchfork Music Festival, Incubate and several other notable festivals. The cds of the band are being released by a notable record company (Kranky Records) with a Wiki article. Can you place back the article and follow a more slow deletion procedure, so that people more familiar with indie rock culture can check and decide about this one? Or otherwise where can I ask a restore request? 94.210.220.37 (talk) 22:02, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

- Then all of those facts must be verified with independent references. Stephen 11:42, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- I know about WP:VERFIABLE. Please read the Pitchfork in the article currently accuratelly and you'll see it already covers all facts as a source.
- 1 is already in the article with the Pitchfork reference.
- 4 This link [2] is a review about their performance at a very notable festival. This link tells about the Europe tour [3]
- 5 Pitchfork mentions it's their 2nd album on a notable indie label.
- 6 Pitchfork mentions the members are from already known other acts.
- Can you tag all facts that still appear unverified to you with [citation needed] and restore the article asa you believe this band is not just a local hero or a hoax? [edit]The Featured Sound Main Page Proposal Voter Barnstar | ||
I was truly humbled by the overwhelming community support for the recent proposal to place featured sounds on the main page. The proposal closed on Tuesday with 57 people in support and only 2 in opposition. It should take a few weeks for everything to get coded and tested, and once that is done the community will be presented with a mock up to assess on aesthetic appeal. Finally, I invite all of you to participate in the featured sounds process itself. Whether you're a performer, an uploader, or just come across a sound file you find top quality, and that meets the featured sound criteria, you can nominate it at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates. Featured sounds is also looking for people to help assess candidates (also at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates.)
Thanks again for such a strong showing of support, and I hope to see you at featured sounds in the future. |

Decline of Speedy Delete for Flash retailing comment
[edit]When I originally speedy tagged this article as A7 it was based on this diff wherein the original poster states: "A term coined by Mike Evans on February 25th, 2011 . . ." Since the term was claimed to have been coined practically the same day the article was written I would posit that it is a poster child for not credibly indicating its importance. The user has since removed that claim. At the time I wouldn't have called my tagging "innapropriate" as you did in your summary. I might have used something like "Article has been improved - Speedy Delete no longer operational." Would still like to know your logic for retaining this article. --Quartermaster (talk) 16:25, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
- Because unfortunately the speedy criterion can only be applied to individuals, animals, organizations, and web content, and not a concept, or in this case, neologism. My use of 'inappropriate' was in no way meant to cause offence, and apologies if it did so. --Stephen 22:07, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
- No offense taken. Nice response which continues to educate me. I'll file it away and proceed appropriately in the future. Your record tells me you have "clue" and your response is useful and civil. Carry on! --Quartermaster (talk) 22:54, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Sockpuppets?
[edit]Hi Stephen, after adding the {{technical}} tag to the new article Pseudospectral Knotting Method, and seeing two different one-off accounts removing it, I looked at the related articles. These new users seem to be sockpuppets of AVRao (talk · contribs), who you blocked in February 2008, and are related to the following old socklike accounts: Anilvrao (talk · contribs); PS optimal (talk · contribs); RocketWoman (talk · contribs); PSContributor (talk · contribs); Optimality (talk · contribs). Since you may know more of the background, perhaps you can look at the latest incarnations and decide if they are blockworthy: Neely Sandoval (talk · contribs); Chris Denby (talk · contribs). These others also seem likely: Optctl (talk · contribs); Ocuser (talk · contribs); PSexpert (talk · contribs); Vmbecerra (talk · contribs). Thanks, First Light (talk) 21:17, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Help request for re-submitting 'Blottr'
[edit]Hi Stephen,
We really feel that 'Blottr' (http://www.blottr.com) needs an article on Wikipedia. It is a one-of-a-kind website where citizen journalists can report the news in their way, moving away from the traditional force feeding of journalists working for global corporations. Revolutionary ideas such as mood tagging, user collaboration amongst others really does define this website. It also uses data-centre technology and complex algorithms to authenticate, rank and validify news stories in real-time as they are reported.
Blottr recently had a report written on TechCrunch which can be viewed here; http://eu.techcrunch.com/2011/02/28/can-citizen-journalism-work-in-the-uk-blottr-thinks-it-has-the-formula/
Blottr finds itself really pushing typical news sources and in many cases is favoured by readers due to it's personal edge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RichArrowsmith (talk • contribs) 16:19, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

They are numerous, independent sources. This artist has a reputation across Canada and in other countries. What evidence do you have that she does not? Why could not you wait a day or so for me to add my evidence that she does? If nothing else, the list of independent websites that feature her work, or writing about her, are significant, and that list was still incomplete when you deleted it. The invoiceit article contained many links to general topics relating to the various tasks the software performs, as references. Xymon is an important alternative to those products, and the article was not written in an advertising way, but purely factual and historical. I spent hours giving up my time, which I am not paid for, doing this, and you come up along and just click Delete! Please retore it. --Seb7 (talk) 09:22, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
deletion of JobsDB.com
[edit]Dear Stephen,
I am the editor of the JobsDB.com article but eventually the article got deleted within an hour or two once it was published, under the reason of "?A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content): Unambiguous advertising or promotion (CSD G11)".
JobsDB.com is one of the most favourable and notable recruitment websites in Asia-Pacific, and it is holding leading marketing positions in several Asian countries that have millions of working population. The article I wrote was in fact extending the facts based on the existing JobsDB article, which has been redirected to the JobsDB.com article instead once I published the latter.
While the tone of the JobsDB.com article might look like a promotional / advertisement article, it is entirely based on the facts gathered from both primary and secondary sources. Perhaps its writing style is not totally fulfilling the Wikipedia requirements, I strongly doubt that the article should be deleted because visitors who would like to learn more about the history and background of one of the most successful recruitment websites in Asia would be very disappointed to find out that they can find nothing related on Wikipedia. Potential editors who know more about the subject matter would be disappointed too, because there is no longer an existing article to work on further.
Based on the above arguments, please do consider restoring the JobsDB.com article so that more people can elaborate and contribute more on the subject matter.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards, --amanda.da.da (talk) 07:10, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Just extend the existing JobsDB article. And our policy on verification asks that you use reliable secondary sources rather than your own press releases. Stephen 05:06, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- The reason I create a new article JobsDB.com instead of extending the JobsDB article is because JobsDB.com is the official name of the website and it is the name better known to the public (similar to the case where Amazon.com is better known than just Amazon, where the latter could be ambiguous in its meaning).
- The stuffs I wrote for the article are based on the products and services provided by the JobsDB.com website, and that's why their Press Release articles are mainly used as references as they are inarguable facts. Most secondary sources are in fact directly referring to those Press Release articles. This is just like when you're writing an article for a smartphone, it is unavoidable to refer to its specification page in the manufacturer's website. Plus, in addition to the Press Release articles, I had also added a few reliable secondary sources.
- Some quotes in my article might be questionable when somebody lives outside the Asia Pacific region views it, but these doubts of references should have been handled in the Discussions page instead so that every one else can participate to discuss and edit the article to add more related information and additional reliable secondary sources. Deletion of the article should be based on the readers' consensus, rather than just machinery keyword-detection and a less-than-a-minute human review.
- Based on the points I mentioned above, please do consider my request to restore original JobsDB.com article. After all, the merit of Wikipedia is to let everyone participate in sharing their knowledge, and I'm still strongly believing in this.
- Thanks in advance.
- Regards,
- Amanda.da.da (talk) 02:21, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Big Sky Flag
[edit]Hello, why did you delete this page without talking to me about it? This flag is an actual proposal and is NOT A HOAX! I provided a description, link to the page and references. I did everything to make it right! Look at his page North Star Flag and tell me why I can create an article for the Big Sky Flag. I think my article on the flag does have significance and is validated.
Thanks

Deletion of Kid Ink
[edit]Hello.. I am wondering why you deleted the article on Kid Ink. He is a very significant musical figure. He has songs with Chris Brown, Diddy, etc. He is signed to a major label. I would appreciate it if you could re-publish the article, so more people can edit and add more information. I already found more sources with more info to contribute to the article. Thanks and please reply. ryanhuntmuzik 13:20, 30 March 2011 (UTC) rhunt999 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhunt999 (talk • contribs)

Company Page Deleted
[edit]Hi Stephen,
I attempted to create my first entry on wikipedia and it was removed for the following reasons:
"Shipping Supply" (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content): Unambiguous advertising or promotion (CSD G11))
I did some research on how other companies in the industry were written and used them as a guidelines.
The significance of the company is that they were one of ebay's first power sellers when ecommerce on the internet was just starting to grow and supplied many of ebay's top sellers at the time. I even referenced an article from Time Magazine that talked about the company and its significance.
Can you please give me some suggestions on how to make this page better and get it live again? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pmcalabrese84 (talk • contribs) 18:50, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Big Ben Holman
[edit]stephen idk what your beef is with the man the myth the legend big ben holman, but his page is deserving, what happened all people are created equal? who gets to say big ben does not deserve a page? especially when this website allows people like lady GAGA, who are dragging society down with them, to have a page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beardedboy (talk • contribs) 05:00, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit]I believe this is the only way to contact you, if there is another please let me know! Your further explanation on deleting that article would be appreciated since I think the significance of the subject has been indicated indeed. Thanks. Uhuruni (talk) 14:07, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Jews and banking
[edit]Hello Stephen, and first, what makes YOU something of a DEMI GOD of knowledge and deletion? It is sickening. We have to plead and grovel to YOU in order to keep our interests and knowledge in the wiki? You disgust me. Now I typed in "Jews and Banking" only to have a deletion page. Why? Arent you aware of any Jews in the modern banking system? If you know so much about everything, then you certainly know my inquiry had value. I am not anti-semite, far from it. You have too much power, son, and reading this page of multiple pleadings and grovellings, it is showing. I am also sure you will delete my post. But this will be te last time I will ever visit this site so there will be a natural equilibrium. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.230.59.104 (talk) 10:13, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- I only deleted the redirect. It was moved to User:Pseudo-Richard/Jews_and_banking, but given you'll never visit again I'll guess you'll never know. Stephen 13:48, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Salford University Engineers Union
[edit]The page is an information page about a university society. Yes the society has not been running for a long time but has still made some large steps within the university. Stephen there is a lot of media on wiki's own pages which i assume you are aware of such that things like being nice to newbies and such. if you are going to be nice then you will give some pointers towards how this issue can be resolved. If you are not willing to be so kind as to give a few small pointers then I think you are a power crazed imbecile. further more please read the discussion page for Salford Uni Engineers Union. Whuizghey (talk) 23:59, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'll give you a pointer. You need to find, and reference, significant coverage of the organisation in independent reliable secondary sources. (See WP:V and WP:GNG.) If you can do that, the article won't be deleted. Simple. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 11:33, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
I agree that we would very much like to get the page up to standards. If you cant do something helpful please don't do anything at all. Surely the Wikipedia mandate is based on community? Give it a go eh? Djw42 (talk) 00:13, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Brett Goldspink
[edit]I am he. I want to know the content of the information someone tried to post. There are only two of us (that I know of) and want to know if the information was posted to be harmful or negative. Feastbuddy (talk) 12.02, 8 April 2011 (GMT)
- "Brett Goldspink, played rugby league for the Perth Reds, Canberra, Illawara, Oldham, St Helens, Halifax and Wigan. Since Rugby League, Brett now resides in Western Australia as a successful property salesman." Nothing derogatory at all. Let me know if you need any further help. Stephen 02:20, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. I didn't read the AFD, but I had noticed some problems with the article and had added some new references. The subject has made headlines in a few national papers over the last year, and is definitely notable. You may have noticed the original AFD was in 2008, while the article was created recently. I would be willing to significantly revamp the article if you could restore it, or at the very least move it to my userspace. Thanks! Ng.j (talk) 13:14, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- There was nothing in the short article that seemed to overcome the consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TekSavvy. Stephen 01:22, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
- As I stated, that AFD was almost three years ago and out of date. Please move it to my userspace and I will work on it. Ng.j (talk) 15:19, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
- I figured you are busy, but if you could move it soon I would appreciate it. Ng.j (talk) 19:24, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've put it at User:Ng.j/TekSavvy, but I suggest you do read the AfD. --Stephen 13:30, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

I would like you to take a look at User:MichaelQSchmidt/Jonathan Keltz. There was an article about this fellow that was sent to AFD in January 2010.[4] As I myself commented back then, I felt that while the fellow might be seen to meet WP:ENT, there was simply not enough reliable coverage at that time upon which to build a decent BLP. That has changed. In the intervening 14 months, the fellow has received growing coverage and recognition he lacked originally. And with the new coverage, available only since the deletion,[5] I feel it benefits the project to have this new version of the article return to mainspace to further grow and be expanded. There was no flaw in the reasoning for original deletion... but this is not exactly the same as the article that was deleted, due to actor's career and coverage not sitting still over the last 14 months. I seek your okay in its return AND in it not being mistakenly speedied as a G4 recreation. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 21:01, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Just an additional note: RHaworth gave his blessing to an return to mainspace,[6] and sent me a link to the version he speedied, which I then found in a google cache.[7] I can well understand his deletion of that earlier version. Yikes. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:26, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay in replying. I don't see any issues with your new article, and it makes good claims to notability. I'd usually suggest heading over to Deletion Review, but I do not think it necessary in this case. --Stephen 22:51, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
