Vandalism
Can you assist me so what I am doing is not "Vandalism" how are you suppose to edit and post? I am not attempting anything of the sort - and would like to learn to do this correctly - please assist!

- Hi! This page can get you started on editing pages. The edit you're referring to was construed as vandalism because it replaced the page with content that was probably intended to go on your user page, and contained a speedy deletion tag. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 15:19, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Niall McIlroy
I'm sorry, I thought that biographical information was OK. Niall McIlroy is one of only two travel journalists in a magazine that sells over half a million copies on a Saturday and is listed as notable alumni at the Edith Cowan University page. ¬¬¬¬ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Niall76 (talk • contribs) 14:45, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
RE: Niall McIlroy
I'm sorry. I understand. Please just delete it. Niall76 (talk) 14:59, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! The page was deleted as you requested. Don't forget that you can voice your opinion about the deletion of an article in its deletion discussion. For future articles, WP:FIRST contains some good advice. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 15:27, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

- That's reassuring. I randomly took an online IQ test and it scored me at 98. (?!?!?!!!) That's less than Dubya! :P Of course, living in a mold-infested hellhole for 13 years hasn't exactly helped me refine my cognitive acuity. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 15:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Help! Not vandalising or trying to advertise...
you sent me a message stating my edits to Aaron Hall were vandalism - what can I do to make sure they are construed as this?
Also - another page of mine - Weddzilla.com was deleted - it was not intended as advertising - how can i edit it now that it has been deleted to fix it?
Thanks
Aaron

- Hi! Regarding you edits to Aaron Hall, you can regard UltraExactZZ's reply as a good explanation:
“ | There are a couple of things. First off, since there are currently three Aaron Halls with articles on wikipedia, it's difficult to determine which would be "Aaron Hall" and which would be, for example, "Aaron Hall (singer)". Adding to that, who knows which Aaron Hall someone is searching for when they type in "Aaron Hall". So we have disambiguation pages, where we list articles with similar names. You're attempting to add an individual Aaron Hall to this page, which is inappropriate. Properly, you would create an article and then link it to this article, just as the other three Aaron Halls have individual articles that are linked here.
However, as I noted above, it's generally unacceptable to write about one's own company, and that goes double for writing about oneself. If you are notable enough to have an article, chances are good that someone else will write it. So, if you were to create an article on an "Aaron Hall" that included the information you added to Aaron Hall, it would likely be deleted due to the fact that the subject does not appear to be notable as yet. That may change; as I noted, this person's website just launched. But, until there are reliable sources that talk about this person, an article on them would be speedily deleted. Hope this helps, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 15:11, 14 August 2008 (UTC) |

- As for the deletion of Wedzilla.com, it was regarded to be an advertisement. Don't forget that it's hard to write a neutral article about a subject when you're closely affiliated to it. It might be best to leave the creation of that article to a neutral third party, instead of creating it yourself. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 15:46, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Jimla
Jimla is an Arabic language publication. There are not many articles in English because of this. One of note was published online in a SAfrican news website. The link to this notable page was included in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Souris El Makina (talk • contribs) 15:06, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

guess i am still new at this. what do i need to do to avoid this in the future? Sandersonpr (talk) 15:06, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! When creating a new page, WP:FIRST is usually a good read. Don't forget to avoid conflicts of interest, though. If you're closely affiliated with the subject you're writing about, it might be best not to write the article yourself. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 15:12, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
what's wrong now?
nearly everything is cited..please explain. Sandersonpr (talk) 15:33, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Most of your articles that are being deleted read like advertisements, something that's hard to avoid if there's a conflict of interest. Reading WP:SPAMMER and WP:BFAQ might help you avoid this. StaticGull Talk 15:46, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Hello!
Could you visit the above AfD page when you get a chance? I'm sort of confused by your rationale for deletion.
Peace! SWik78 (talk • contribs) 15:31, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for notifying me of that, something must have gone wrong. StaticGull Talk 15:39, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
The entry Princess Pauline of the Netherlands is incorrect (no wonder this page did not come up when I searched for it, otherwise I never would have created a whole new page!) as the Netherlands were not a kingdom at the time she was born and died. Thus she is Paulina, Princess of Orange-Nassau. Could someone put this right please, thank you. Abercrombieclub (talk) 16:13, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- It looks as though SWik78 is going to take care of that. Keep up the good work! StaticGull Talk 12:37, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Robert Michael Buechle
Robert Michael Buechle is as notable as any other criminal profiled on Wikipedia; most notable for being the first person in Olmsted County, MN for being convicted based on usage of the internet to solicit a minor. This in itself is noteworthy. The inquiring public should have access to this information; thank you for your consideration! —Preceding unsigned comment added by PedoFinder (talk • contribs) 16:04, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I was not aware of the policy you cited. I intended no harm. But if the article goes against the policy, I have nothing against deleting it. Teemu Leisti (talk) 14:00, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! If you think the article should be included anyway, WP:FIRST should help you on your way. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 14:05, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
NASM Page Deletion
Please don't delete our page! I am editing it as we speak and it won't have the same content as our website. I just needed something to put on it so it would be created.
Thank you! Jenn613 (talk) 14:57, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! It might be better to develop the article on a subpage of your user page first, before adding it the the mainspace. Please keep in mind that it would create a conflict of interest if you are closely affiliated with the subject that you're writing about, though. WP:BFAQ contains some useful information too. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 15:05, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
RE: NASM Page Deletion
Thank you for the clarification. I will put the hang on tag under the speedy deletion tag. Jenn613 (talk) 15:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I'd hit 3RR if I reverted the anonymous IP again. Kww (talk) 17:07, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Don't worry about breaking the 3RR rule, as those edits fall under the 3RR exceptions. I've reported the anonymous IP though, and he's just recieved a 24 hour block[1]. Keep up the good vandal-fighting work! StaticGull Talk 11:45, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm pretty careful about 3RR. This guy was sitting right on the border between vandalism and really bad editing, and there isn't an exception for really bad editing. If he had just said Mariah Carey is a great big poo-face, I would have reverted without fear.
Kww (talk) 12:08, 19 August 2008 (UTC)- As long as it's 2 editors or more against one it's usually okay, but I know what you mean, I've had "bad editing" 3RRs go to mediation. StaticGull Talk 12:12, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Not Speedy
I just wanted to ask, with regards to the wiki page entitled 'tranny dogg' i tagged it for a 'hangon' for speedy (and you rightfully untagged it, as it was not speedy.) i would however, like to know how - other than commenting that i have followed the linking reference, how i can agree with the pages author that the beverage in question is indeed real. ~~whitey~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.247.160 (talk) 13:01, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! I'm afraid that you can't really do anything else than contribute to the AfD page. Keep in mind, however, that just being real isn't enough to be inlcuded on Wikipedia. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 13:07, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Censorship
hey
i found the "censorship" page vandalized, i've undone that edit and added a semi-vanadalism template. was that ok ? i saw that you later edit that page too ... were my actions ok ? i'm a noob to this wiki stuff. thanks (don't really know if this is the place to ask you stuff) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Horhalau (talk • contribs) 23:48, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

- Hi! Adding {{sprotected}} or {{protected}} to a page is only a means for an admin to notify users that a page is protected. This does not actually confer protection to the article. If you need help protecting a page, please contact an admin or request it. If the page is just being vandalised by one or two people though, it might be better to leave a warning on the vandal's user page. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions, and keep up the good vandal-fighting work! StaticGull Talk 11:57, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
TopoSys GmbH Wikipedia page
I understand your negative view. I think that there is no harm in referring to the equipments' name, but I assume that it's a kind of commercial spam, but I had to differentiate the equipments' due to their unique and different features. Nevertheless, I now made the page as neutral as possible, please let me know of your feedback if possible. Cheers!

- Hi! If you are closely affiliated with the subject you're writing about, I would like to dissuade you to do so, as it would cause a conlfict of interest. It might be better to let the Wikipedia community create the article. WP:BFAQ might help to avoid a future conflict of interest. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 13:59, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Actually, it wasn't an ownership problem. It was a banned user back for the 13th time:Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Soccermeko(13th).Kww (talk) 13:35, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

About Takeshima and Dokdo
I am really disappointed of the declaration that my act was complete vandalizing. Dokdo, is Korea's territory, and was admitted until few years ago by all countries expect Japan. I do not know why the ownership is slating toward Japan, but the island we are talking about is 90 km from Korea, which is much closer than Japan which is over 150km. Of course I am not saying that the distance matters but accordingly, Japan's documents say that they are willing to give up Dokdo to Korea. Unfortunately, they are starting to burn those documents to clear evidence to declare Dokdo as their's but the truth should stand. The only reason Japan wants Dokdo for is because of the natural sources that is coming out of there. Before they knew that, they didn't even care whose island Dokdo was. However, Korea considers Dokdo as one of their pride. I would appreciate your consideration Thank you Harunq (talk) 14:09, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! I'm in no way questioning the legitimacy of your contributions, it's just that such controversial edits should first be discussed on the talk pages of the appropriate articles, and should be backed by reliable sources. Feel free to ask me any other questions you might have, and happy editing! StaticGull Talk 12:33, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
DG934G page
Why is this page suitable for deletion? I've made the page as unbiased as possible and there are no current articles on Wikipedia containg information on the Netgear DG934G. :( —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiyabyers (talk • contribs) 14:13, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Please keep in mind that all articles have to pass notability guidelines too, so Wikipedia doesn't become a random collection of all existing things in the universe. WP:FIRST should also contain some good tips on creating an article. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 12:39, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Deletion of The Free Story
Hi! I just received a message from YOU that the Tracklisting and Release Date of the 'Free' LP, 'The Free Story' would be deleted. May I ask why? Thank YOU, kindly! Rick —Preceding unsigned comment added by FuturePrimitive666 (talk • contribs) 13:47, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! I tagged the article for speedy deletion because the article was lacking sufficient context to identify the subject. If you want to contest the article's deletion, place {{Hangon}} directly below the deletion tag, and explain why on the article's talk page. Don't forget to have a look at WP:FIRST, too. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 13:59, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
