Incorrect tagging on St Patrick's Primary School
Hello there!!!
For your information, db-A7 is not appropriate tag for articles related to school, please look at CSD A7 Thank you
Hitrohit2001 (talk) 16:31, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Hitrohit2001
Can you explain that?
I think I know why you reverted the edit, but I was wondering if you could confirm your reasoning. :) - Arcayne (cast a spell) 16:33, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Unnotable content, WP:SOAP, and probably sock-puppetry too. :-). StaticGull Talk 16:39, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I was just thinking about the fact that torrents usually link to illegal downloads, and whatnot. What is the basis for the socking claim? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 17:02, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- The previous edits I reverted looked a lot like the IP-user's edits. It slipped my mind to review the link quality, I'll have to remember to do that in future. StaticGull Talk 17:10, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Excuse me
I am trying to start a page for Patrick Young, who is far more significant than the Bassist's page that it currently redirects too. Please refrain from labeling my contributions as vandalism. 216.191.79.11 (talk) 15:41, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! At least one of your recent edits on that page constituted vandalism, and going by this edit it looked as though you simply changed the name of a page you copied. StaticGull Talk 15:48, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- I was merely using that page as a template for something to start with. All of the content was to be changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.191.79.11 (talk) 16:03, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- You may want to consider creating the article on a user sub-page first, instead of providing wrong information. For more help, WP:FIRST contains some good tips. StaticGull Talk 16:07, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi. Can you please explain this edit? --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 16:22, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- My mistake, I thought he was vandalising by adding questionmarks. StaticGull Talk 16:25, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- No prob. I can relate, I've been whacked around plenty myself :-) --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 16:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
This may become notable, when it's actually made, and an author makes a new, non-copyvio, stub. Until then, I deleted first, then closed the AfD. Bearian (talk) 18:01, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, that sounds like a good solution. StaticGull Talk 11:21, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
This one, on the other hand, should be kept as a perfectly good stub. Bearian (talk) 18:43, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Great work on improving the article, keep it up! StaticGull Talk 11:22, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletions and AfDs
Hi there!
First of all, you have done some excellent work cleaning up Wikipedia from vandalism and cruft and I wish to commend you for that.
But I would like to discuss with you some of the articles you've nominated for deletion whether through AfD or speedy deletion. My issue is that it seems as though you're not putting a lot of thought into some of those nominations as you maybe should and I hope that it's not being done for the sake of a high edit count. In the case of speedy deletions, WP:CSD advises to not nominate an article for speedy if reasonable doubt exists that it qualifies under the very narrowly defined criteria. Naturally, we all make mistakes but you have had quite a few messages on your talk page about incorrect tagging for speedy deletions and yet today you still made these speedy deletion nominations to which speedy deletion criteria do not apply:
- [1] - WP:CSD#A2 does not apply, the language is English
- [2] - WP:CSD#A7 does not apply
- [3] - the redirect is not implausible
These are some of the articles you nominated for speedy deletion today for which speedy deletion was contested by other editors who believed that a resonable doubt exists against speedy deletion:
I'm lead to believe that you don't know the speedy deletion criteria as well as you should if you're going to be performing such a large amount of work in that area. To give you another example, contrary to what you advised an editor who questioned a speedy nomination you made in this edit, failing WP:CREATIVE is most definitely not a criteria for speedy deletion. It may be a very good argument to take to AfD but WP:CSD requires only assertion of notability, not proof, to be provided in order to render an article ineligible for speedy. WP:CREATIVE is not directly related to CSD criteria.
And your AfD nominations today seem to be of a drive-by variety. The Wikipedia:Guide to deletion#Nomination says:
- The fact that you haven't heard of something, or don't personally consider it worthy, are not criteria for deletion. You must look for, and demonstrate that you couldn't find, any independent sources of sufficient depth.
These are AfD discussions you started today that contain no demonstration of any findings nor do they specifically quote a part of any policy, rather they very thoughtlessly say Doesn't seem notable enough:
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nation's Favourite Musical
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Otaku Magazine
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patronat d'Estudis Osonencs
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/When I See an Elephant Fly
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pawistik Lodge
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Karen Hanson
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Porto Dinheiro
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Genesee County, New York Sheriff's Office
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Glis
Although these articles and their subject may not, in fact, be notable enough per Wikipedia policies on WP:Notability, you should demonstrate why it is that you believe that to be the case.
Like I said, you have done some very valuable work on Wikipedia and nobody is ungrateful for that. But please be careful using a tool such as Huggle (which seems to be something you use on just about 100% of your edits these days) because the quality of your contributions might end up taking a back seat to quantity. To put it bluntly, put a little more thought into what it is you're about to do before you start clicking buttons.
Peace! SWik78 (talk • contribs) 18:45, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out to me, I'll be more careful in the future, as well as taking more time to justify the deletion or AfD-nomination criteria. StaticGull Talk 11:34, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- One more thing. For all the times anyone has ever had a complaint against an edit of yours, you have taken every bullet like a man and have displayed an exemplary level of civility, a mark of a true gentleman. Please don't get offended if you don't biologically qualify to be called a gentleman :)
- Peace! SWik78 (talk • contribs) 14:43, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- I meet the biological criteria, and would like to thank you for taking the time to analyse my contributions. :-). StaticGull Talk 11:24, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Linking AfDs into correct log page
Hi. I notice you've created a lot of AfD's, which you've listed on log pages with names like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 juni 21. That is not the correct name and the incorrect name is causing your AfDs to get ignored. The problem is the month: it should be capitalized and it should be in English, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 June 21. If you are using some script that causes your AfDs to be placed incorrectly, can you please fix it? Thanks. —David Eppstein (talk) 15:09, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for pointing that out. I've been using Huggle to process AfD nominations, so I'll contact the appropriate users to change it. StaticGull Talk 11:38, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
The author and subject of this article has been posting comments in various places like its talk page and one of those "Juni" log pages. I have moved them into the AfD debate; you may want to reply. I haven't decided yet how to !vote myself. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 07:36, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for notifying me of that! StaticGull Talk 09:57, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
AFD nominations
I noticed you forgot to transclude Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blood Gnome to today's AFD log. Could you do so, such that the request is seen by AFD patrollers? Thanks, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 15:59, 30 June 2008 (UTC).
- Done
- I thought Huggle would have done that for me, thanks for pointing it out. StaticGull Talk 16:02, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, and thanks. Cheers, --Mizu onna sango15/Discuss 17:18, 30 June 2008 (UTC).
Welcome Message
Hi, you put a welcome to wikipedia message on my talk page earlier and I'm really confused given that I've been a member of Wikipedia for nearly a year now. Have I done something wrong to attract attention to myself??? Spiritofsussex (talk) 16:23, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't check your contributions. Have a cookie instead :-). StaticGull Talk 16:26, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
A heads up
Regarding this discussion, please understand that vandalism is never a basis for deletion. Needless to say, deleting articles that have problems which aren't resolved by deletion is abstract, and besides, if vandalism is the problem, nominating it for deletion is like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Otherwise, keep stemming the tide of those logs. Cheers, WilliamH (talk) 00:10, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for reminding me of that. I meant to say that most of the page consisted of vandalism, and the pre-vandalism article wasn't notable enough. Keep wielding that trout, though :-). StaticGull Talk 09:55, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Why did u have to delete my page.
To whom it may concern.
My radio program is very improtant to me and all my fans i have been asked and asked to make a wiki page for it and i have spent ages on that page, so could you please tell me you had to delete it.
Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.67.82.63 (talk) 09:25, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Could you please specify what page it is that got deleted (it looks like you used another IP address to create it)? If you can't remember the exact title of the page, WP:WWMPD might contain the answer. Also, don't forget to take a look at WP:FIRST, as it contains some good tips about creating new articles. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 10:21, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Adding website
Why it's not possible to add this site it's not for making money, it's a serious website talking about x-men vs street fighter and I don't think that we are much commercial or advertising than those link which selling the game so please let me add this site you will have a big candy ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.195.243.254 (talk) 13:06, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! In accordance to WP:ELNO, it's best to avoid adding a link to that website because, amongst other things, it's a forum and not in English. StaticGull Talk 13:26, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
this is not vandalizing

What was wrong
Hi What was wromg with Rasoolpur page ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rasoolpuri (talk • contribs) 12:56, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there! The spelling and grammar of the article need to be improved. Please note that this doesn't mean the article will be deleted. Good job on creating the article, though! StaticGull Talk 13:18, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
JustBicycles
I contributed and got a notice it would be deleted unless I put "hangon" which would give me more time to "fix" the article. I couldn't fiqure out where I'm suppose to put "hangon". Please dont delete the article so I have some time to fix it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bikeman4147 (talk • contribs) 12:30, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Sorry, but the article has already been deleted per WP:SPAM. If you would like to recreate the article, WP:FIRST and WP:SPAMMER contain some good tips. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 12:38, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Deleting my user page
Why did you delete my user page?--mcpierce (talk) 15:05, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! That's what your user page is for, the main namespace is reserved for encyclopedic entries. StaticGull Talk 15:20, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
I re-added the edit that you reverted. I don't see how cracked/uncracked status of other GFW affects the user's ability to run this game on XP with crack. Fireice (talk) 00:49, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- And I've undone it again for a number of reasons... 1) lack of source 2) the version that runs on XP is quite useless; it can't go online 3) generally a lot of things can be done with "Cracked games", Wikipedia rarely reports on this. 4) it is not an official platform and doesn't belong in the infobox. –xenocidic (talk) 00:56, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Treaty #3 Police
Can you please leave the edits in there...
It is not vandalism. Rumors are an integral part of Anishinaabe culture.
Please stop stifling that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.76.131.135 (talk) 17:32, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Sorry, but Wikipedia is about verifiability, not truth. If you can find a reliable source confirming those things, you can include them in the article. However, Wikipedia is not censored. StaticGull Talk 17:37, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Treaty #3 Police (continued)
How in the blazes am I supposed to verify these claims?
I can name twenty people who've been beaten by Treaty #3 Police. Do you need me to send signed affidavits that it happened?
How else can I verify these claims aside from doing that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.76.131.135 (talk) 17:41, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- If those signed affidavits were published by the NY Times, you could definately add those claims to the article :-). Keep in mind that there are people who insist they've been "beamed up" several times, but if their statements were to be considered of the same value as sourced ones, who knows what would happen to Wikipedia.... Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 17:49, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Just as a note, I went to various newspapers around Kenora to see if there were any articles regarding police abuse, but found none. I went to Grand Council of Treaty 3's website to see if the Office of the Grand Chief had made any statements, and found none. I went to T3PS's website to see if there were any public rebuttles, and found none. So, as it stands, the anonymous IP user's edits cannot be verified. CJLippert (talk) 19:25, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
