Please try to write neutral on the article. Some sections are way to biased. Also please do not overlink, there's no reason to link eight times to the same album. Stick to the date format alreasy used: Month Day, Year: 2019-04-27 is not automatically converted; Also for e.x. Time is a magazine and needs to be cited through |work= ;everything besides magazines, newspaper and print media should be cited through |publisher=. I'm sorry about the links! Some of the links were due to formatting issues that I could only resolve through including links (problems with improper italicizing and bolding in the source code) but I admit I have a tendency to overlink stuff that I will work on. I've been trying to remain as neutral as possible in my wording and to support everything with appropriate articles/statements not from myself and preferably from the members or critics, but unfortunately it seems that my personal bias has managed to leak through anyway. Please make changes, delete, or add context if you see it necessary. BTS

Hey Starlight Dreams! I seriously appreciate you adding so much to BTS' article. I would just like to note some things as an experienced Wikipedia editor:

• Don't stylize album names. All Love Yourself series albums should be written as their page title, meaning no extra quotation marks and no hanja characters. This goes for member names too -- J-Hope not j-hope, Jimin not JIMIN, Jungkook not Jung Kook, etc. Their full names should also be written like Jin's page title -- Kim Seok-jin instead of Kim Seokjin or Kim Seok Jin.
• You cannot, and this is incredibly important, use translated quotes that you yourself did not translate, unless you cite that translation directly, like the Time magazine source. I'm currently going through the BTS article to find these that you added, though you can remove them yourself. You cannot cite a blog's translation either, so please don't add these. This is because translations are copyrighted by the translator, meaning that adding such quotes without the permission of the translator is a copyright violation and could get you blocked off Wikipedia. If you would like to have these quotes, you have to get the translator's explicit permission. If you don't mind linking me these posts as well I would appreciate it. You also have to include author names for articles you cite.
• I am a fan of BTS as well, however, when writing your articles you have to ensure you don't sound like a fan advertising them. This includes avoiding statements that an album was wholly received positively (you can say was generally received positively) and using words like these or these. I don't believe you were the one who removed it but noting how BTS had early criticism for sexist lyrics and now get them reviewed by a feminist professor is super important.
• Please avoid K-Pop terminology. As a general rule, Wikipedia articles are intended as a ground zero for those new to the topic and will not understand what a daesang or an all-kill is. This does not mean they shouldn't be included, however. What I do is type out how I would define such things -- daesang is a major Korean award or a grand prize, and an all-kill is being the number one song across all hourly, daily, and realtime charts on all major Korean streaming platforms. I also haven't seen you add this but just to make you aware -- "main", "lead" positions aren't noted because explaining what these titles mean as well as how the dancer role operates is confusing to those unaware of K-Pop, given all the members sing, rap, and and dance. Such explanations outside of the K-Pop article would be fancruft anyways. Same thing with using mini album instead of EP.

As an addendum, I know that writing in a way that doesn't sound like a fan can be tricky, so I have some other suggestions. Besides reading the list of words to avoid I linked above, it could be helpful to look at the NPOV policy and take into consideration what caused Big Bang's page to lose it's Good Article status: "The article contains subtle wording that may be overly positive. "the group known for", "is also a highlight", "fairly positive", "hit songs" and especially that comment about kpop being notorious for having manufactured pop as if the band is better than that." Thank you for reaching out to me and letting me know more about editing on Wikipedia! I'm quite inexperienced, so much of what you've said is quite helpful. I don't anticipate contributing majorly again in the future until my life settles down in the next couple of years, but I'll still be keeping an eye on the page and making minor changes when I have time. I ran through the article and looked at my added quotes. The only major quote I put in a quote box was from Time, like you mentioned. Anything that I've cited or quoted from Kim Youngdae's book comes directly from his official translated book. I had already removed the direct quotes from translation blogs I initially added prior to you reaching out to me so those should not be an issue as, in general, I try to cite the direct source and summarize the information rather than quoting translations directly. If you have specific questions about a quote that I added but missed, please ask me, I might remember where I got it. I would like to help fix my citations, but quite honestly I currently do not have the time to do that or to research the appropriate citation system for Wikipedia and I appreciate any help in that regard. However, I'll definitely pay more attention to any new citations that I may add in the future. I understand your concerns regarding writer's bias and appreciate your tips regarding wording. For me, my strengths are in summarizing, condensing, and contextualizing information due to my academic training and field, so I did a lot of radical rewriting of many sections to cut out extraneous information and also added context that I felt was missing from the whole picture (e.g., adding descriptions of the venues that BTS held their concert tours in). My field requires defining any acronyms and terminology used and assuming the audience knows nothing, so any k-pop terminology left undefined may have been from previous contributors rather than something I added. I generally avoid deleting any information unless I find it redundant or not noteworthy enough for the section it's in (e.g., the exact peak on the Billboard Hot 100 for "DNA" and "Mic Drop" in the lead, which should be instead left to the career section). Recalling back to when I rewrote the artistry section, I do not remember seeing any sentences on the criticisms of BTS' lyrics otherwise I would have included it, so it must have been removed previously. @Starlight dreams: Thank you so much for the lengthy response! The BTS page definitely needed an overhaul and so I thank you very much for what you added. It was clearly a lot of work and I'm happy that someone else was able to get a handle on it given it was on my fairly lengthy list of BTS related pages that needed making/adjusting. I'm glad you have such a great grasp on summarization and proofreading since truthfully I'm much better at the writing than the adjusting. And of course feel free to work on this whenever you are able, it's always helpful to have another member of the group of us who edits BTS-related pages often. @DanielleTH: No problem! I got tired of the state of the BTS page which quite honestly was just lines and lines of sales and achievements written strictly chronologically that revealed nothing without context so I took advantage of a week where I knew I had nothing going on to focus on rewriting some of the sections. Once I started, it felt wrong to stop halfway so I ended up rewriting the whole thing other than the philanthropy section since that was fine the way it is. After rewriting, I also got tired of having pictures that looked nice but added nothing to the article so I changed some of the photos and then linked them to the appropriate paragraph to aid in finding information within sections. I'm happy you noticed my work on RM's page! I was honestly going to work on all the members' pages since I find them lacking as well, but only had enough info to write for RM's page since he is the only member that wrote a biography for his early years. @Ashleyyoursmile: You're welcome! I have made a preliminary rewrite in my sandbox per your request. It looks like a lot of the info in the background section is a repeat of the release and promotion section so I moved the info and expanded on details regarding the context of the album. Having a separate section for the singles also felt kind of repetitive so I removed all the sections except for the tour section. I do not think it is quite ready to move to the main page so you are welcome to make changes to my sandbox. The sentences on the commercial performance of "Black Swan" and "On", for example, could be moved to the commercial performance section. -Starlight dreams (talk) 21:15, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

@Starlight dreams: Thank you for all the work you did in re-organising and cutting down redundant parts from both the Background and Release and promotion section. It reads much better now. I have added a line or two in both the sections and have replaced a citation in the Tour section with a more reliable one. Excepting that, all looks good to me. Hi Starlight dreams hope you are well. Since you wrote the Artwork and packaging section for Map of the Soul: 7, I wanted to show you something which I recently came across. Korea Herald recently interviewed the designers of the cover here. It's elaborate, possibly something could be added to the album page from here? Thoughts? @Ashleyyoursmile:: Thanks for the source. I took a look and a lot of the material looks similar to the previous interview they conducted. Not sure if it's necessary to include the descriptions of the logos themselves, since a lot of the themes were already described in the concept photos.
