Hi Travellingcari
I'm new to wikipedia so I'm still learning how everything works. I tried to add info to the Rockland Center for the Arts page. Everything I added was deleted because of a copyright violation. All the information I wrote was gathered from either their website or from printed material and was rewritten so as not to be copying copyrighted material. The block on my account is already lifted so I'm not asking for you to unblock me. I'm just wondering if you could tell me which part of my info was copyrighted and possibly where you traced that info from. Any info you have on this would be really helpful to me. Thanks Baravery (talk) 02:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Baravery, thanks for the note. Material that you add to the article has to be completely re-written. Most of the sections where still almost verbatim from the website which not only violates copyright but also encyclopedic tone. BY design and right, the website is promotional of the Center, but that's not what an encyclopedic article is for. An encylopedic article is supposed to talk about the organization, but not down to the level that the website does. For example, the camp is completely non notable. It's of no interest or importance to anyone other than the local community. What's the organization known for? Why is it notable? does that help? Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to try and help. TravellingCari 05:53, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Sure, the information in the body would be the best, I was just cleaning links, and seeing if the links supports the text in the article, several of the links were poorly formatted, and one link to the NPS didn't work at all. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 19:16, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Have you noticed that links to the National Park Service database don't take you to the entry, just to the data entry form for the database?

Adsit
You're welcome. I should tell you that I cheat though. I use Elkman's infobox generator. Just put in Adsit and NY, and voila! It creates the box for me. Happy editing.--Appraiser (talk) 03:09, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just an aside, you often need to rework things like names and addresses, removing "architect: unknown", etc. It's not the tools fault, it's the underlying data.dm (talk) 15:53, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Good to know, thanks. As I work through one of my favorite red link farms I'm sure I'll find an article or five to test it on. TravellingCari 16:28, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Sorry I haven't been able to respond to you until now or do more than a few edits. There's so much else going on.
I looked at the NRHP nom on the OPRHP website, figuring it probably wouldn't be too long. You know, it's just a log cabin ... right?
Wrong. You want sourcing? You got sourcing .... almost 24 pages worth. Single-spaced. Really interesting, though ... apparently that 1928 rediscovery of the original cabin is almost as important to its historical significance as its original historic status.
It certainly has one hell of a DYK hook potential, though "...that the Adsit Log Cabin] is believed to be the oldest log cabin in the United States still in its original location?" So we'll have to get to work.
On other fronts, over the weekend I stopped in Sloatsburg on the way down to my mother's house in NJ and got pictures of all four RHP listings there, so you don't have to go out to the western corner of your home county (I am guessing from wherever you live that would be about as far as you could get in Rockland County?) ASPCA
I've been thinking about your question as to whether the ASPCA article should have a New York City focus. The fact that the ASPCA has a web presence and does lobby nationally (I beleive they charge a fee for the service) and they advertize nationally gives the impression that they are a nation wide organization. In reality, the ASPCA provides it's sevice to the residents of NYC. Their headquarters, Animal Hospital and Adoption Center is in Manhatten (in NYC), their Law Enforcement headquarters in in Long Island City (also in NYC). They do have an Animal Posion Control Center in Urbana, IL that provides advice over the phone (for a $60 fee). The ASPCA intentionally created the image that they are "American" and thus national, but I have found that they really aren't.
I was a volunteer Humane Law Enforcement Officer with the Suffolk County, NY SPCA and did become somewhat familiar with the organization 20 miles from my county border. We did do some joint training, and the officers I encountered seemed professional.
Perhaps the article needs expansion to shed some light on a confusing organization. What do you think? SGT141 (talk) 02:24, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh well
They were playing the (by far) best team in baseball so I guess I'll cut them some slack. Though you looked pretty good on TV ;-) --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 03:23, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, and got to give Andy credit for apparently saying on the post game, "I was awful." I don't get why you trade for Pudge and then pinch hit for him in the bottom of the 9th. I adore baseball, but it makes no sense to me. I was surrounded by southerners tonight, was rather amusing to hear their take on NYC and the game. Made it on TV v. the Sox earlier this year, don't think I was today--would have been a melty pile of goo with frizzy hair if I was. Somehow I'd rather lose to the Angels of wherever they are this week than the birds. TravellingCari 03:39, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess that's kind of weird. If they wanted to rest him they shoulda pulled him earlier. Spent half an hour today yelling at a friend of mine, a Tigers fan, about letting the Yanks get away with giving up nothing. He tells me "I hear he can throw 100mph" (rolling my eyes). --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 04:09, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- LOL, that quote was said by someone in spring training earlier last year, I think, and the response from some of us was yeah, and the home run leaves the park at 200 mph" Farnsy is hit or miss, he had a good stretch until his recent appearance. I'm more surprised by the Manny deal. TravellingCari 12:10, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for sticking up for me at that afd. I have no idea why I even got involved in that article to begin with, but if an afd hits my talkpage it won't go down without a fight. This Mussina guy is nuts. He's making a late push for the Hall of Fame. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 04:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Which AfD? The Destiny one? It needs clean-up, but not deletion. I don't agree that every murder/disappearance is automagically notable but if consensus thinks that way, I'm happy to go with it. The idea that news sources are priimary is nuts. Of course if you're talking about anoher AfD then link please? I love my Moose. Beginning of the year I was ready to put him out to pasture but wow, he's turned it around and like Andy, he's the one I want to see out there when it matters -- *not* Ian Kennedy. Even Ponson. Not a Moose or an Andy but his MLB experience has taught him how to play when it matters. I'm looking forward to seeing Giese start tomorrow. TravellingCari 12:11, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, was referring to that afd. Dunno why the incompetents are bringing up some loser from AAA to pitch Saturday's game. Can't they find someone decent in AAA? Shouldn't they be rewarding pitchers that pitch well in the minors? --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 22:44, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Need to check it, I've been AfK (and mercifully, AfTVScreen as well) so not seen last bits. I was spending a lot of energy on an AfD that in the grand scheme, I don't care whether it stays or goes. I think though now it's at best going to be no-consensus since there's clearly none to delete. Stokes,... I know that name for some reason, maybe sibling? TravellingCari 04:03, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Tag: Museums categories and subcats
Sorry, I havent had started yet ( fallen asleep :) ).. I am now working on this ... You want me to tag the articles in the above categories or tag the categories themseleves as {{WikiProject Museums}} ? -- Tinu Cherian - 02:26, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'd like the categories tagged as {{WikiProject Museums|class=Cat}}. Which would put them in the project and assess them. Someone set the template for me so that those tagged as a category wouldn't then need to be assessed for quality. Is that clearer? IF not, let me know and thanks again. TravellingCari 02:42, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Perfect ! I understood. I will do the same and update you... -- Tinu Cherian - 02:54, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I ran recursively on the categories you had given to find the sub.. sub categories ( containing the word 'museum' ) and came up with this list:- User:TinucherianBot/Autotagg/WPMUS/Cats . Can you have a look on any possible wrong cats before I run the bot to tag them ? -- Tinu Cherian - 06:27, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Done The cats were tagged. Please let me know if you want to tag the articles in the categories also -- Tinu Cherian - 09:45, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Big game tonight, let the razz begin!
Don't worry, I won't rub in how badly you just got beat up by a suburban Los Angeles, low-budget team. We can't beat them either. Best of luck in this little Midwestern series, may the best team win!. Keeper ǀ 76 14:19, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, Sidney Ponson never did play well at the dome. Maybe the stripes will help him. I don't know how your coaches did it, but they managed to squeeze a bit more blood out of that turnip. Keeper ǀ 76 14:21, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- 2-0, I thought this year? I'm so fed up with how my boys are playing, no effort whatsoever. Mercifully I missed 2-3 games this weekend and still haven't learnt to use the DVR. I think the secret with Ponson vs. Ian "I do no wrong" Kennedy is that while Ponson is no Moose/Andy, he has the late season experience to pitch at these times. No question he's who I'd rather see on the mound now. As for the Angels... if you're gonna lose, lose to the best team in baseball. In the mean time, Go YANKS! TravellingCari 01:16, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ponson 2-0 for the Twins? Hardly. He was 0-2, in two home games in early 2007, and sent packing with a 10.3 era. Or was that really this year? I swear it was last year. Either way, someone picked him up off waivers (texas maybe), eventually worked his way back to newyork. I should really just go read his article instead of the guess work. Anywho, one game down, two to go. Wildcard ain't lookin' pretty. The two Socked teams are going to be battling the two lo-budget movers and shakers' teams for top spots. Yanks streak of playoff appearances is about to go the way of the Braves...Keeper ǀ 76 15:51, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

- LMAO, Iri. Before I realized where you put this I was trying to figure out what I'd done -- I hadn't tagged any notenglish lately :) Keeper, Ponson was 2-0 against the Twins, I thnk. I don't remember. He should have won last night if the Yankees remembered how to hit. I haven't given up with 6 games remaining against the Sox and Tampa, they can overcome this, but I agree they won't if they don't remember how to hit. Ponson or Kennedy, Ponson hands down. I wouldn't put him ahead of others but he's a solid 4/5. TravellingCari 16:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
That list
Hi Cari! From my viewpoint, I think that list really needs to be chopped down -- you have libraries, zoos, Ground Zero, a surprising number of redlinks (considering the subject) and no sense of direction. You could have at least five different list-related articles based on what is compiled here. But that is my opinion. Thanks for thinking of me. Ecoleetage (talk) 00:10, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
In reply to your edit summary on Black Tie Nights, I added the CSD template when there was only an infobox. I'm sending this because I hope you didn't think of me going around and adding CSD templates to random articles. Cheers.--LAAFan 15:38, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- I see when you added it and I think I'd have declined it then as well. Remember deletion (whether it's AfD, CSD, etc.) is not about what it is at the moment but also potential. It was obvious that there was context there, but other admins might have disagreed. I err on the side of inclusion. TravellingCari 17:27, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Why are you valdalizing my personal talk page
- Sister, why have you decided to vandalize my talk page repeatedly. I made two edits to two pages before you vandalized my page, I respected the warning yet you have decided to take it upon yourself to deface my personal page with non-official wiki-notes. I am sticking to strict Wikirules here and will have to defer your vandalism on my personal page to an admin with more authority. Please refrain from administrating on an issue where no rules have been broken. I competed no edits after your first "warning", please show some respect and refrain from following other users without respect to personal privacy rights and the ethics of being a good Wikipedian. Thank you TravelJournalNetwork (talk) 01:52, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Feel free to discuss it with another admin but my first warning to you was on August 10th. According to your contributions, you edited again on the 12th and 14th, with the 12th being yet another edit that violates COI guidelines as well as those on external links. You're perilously close to a spam block especially with your username. I suggest you keep those in mind, but like I said feel free to discuss it with another admin. G'day
Hi, Cari!
Spotted your name on ANI, clicked the link, found you were not only active, but an admin. I used to hit on random articles in the days when I could spot and fix an error in almost every one, but the standard seems to have improved, apart from writing quality which is usually pretty ordinary.
I don't think that this is going to change much when writing is done by committee. Any sparkle gets relentlessly ground down.
I've got a book I think you'd like by someone who hopped into my cab recently. He's done a tonne of travelling, has an entertaining style, and is confined to a wheelchair. Which makes his recent travels in places like Yemen, South Ossetia, Finland and an atlas full of other places all the more remarkable. If you can PM a shipping address, I'll send it off, once I get him to autograph it. For some reason, he's taken a shine to me - maybe it's the fact that I laugh at his jokes and park the cab so he can get in and out easily. He gives me a call when he needs a taxi, and I happily drive across town for the privilege. I should learn from his writing style too - he hits the highlights, and skips the mundane.
I'm planning to spend a night and day in NYC in mid-October after the Charleston Uncon, just walking around and taking photographs. Stay at youth hostel. Then hop on Qantas and fly to Perth, flight leaving late afternoon. Any remote chance we can organise a gathering of the locals? I haven't booked any flights yet, so dates are very sketchy, but the UnCon runs 10-12 Oct, Monday 13 fly to Seattle, Wednesday 15 fly to NYC, Thursday to Perth for a sleep, then home to Canberra, by which time I'm not sure of the day or date. I'll travel to Charleston via Auckland, Tokyo, Dublin, LAX and Washington - the idea being to maximise the airmiles on the ticket. --Pete (talk) 01:57, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hey there! I don't think I knew you were on here. I have fun here, mainly in my museum world. Good timing re: me at ANI. I post there when I break things, othewise I'm a bad admin wrt assisting there. Book looks wonderful, want to bring it in October? Would love to catch up, living in Manhattan now so it's easier. The BC meet-ups here have died, if they were ever active but I'll send an e-mail to the group and see if anyone is around. Or did you mean wiki locals? Those I've met :) I can see if anyone is available for a mid-week get together. At the least, you get me on my own turf. I forget what was going on last time you were through this way -- I may not have been here. I've got itchy feet -- it's a year ago now that I was in Melbourne for a wedding (via what I called Qantas' kangaroo hop and it wasn't intentional: HPN-ORD-LAX=AKL-MEL-ADL-BNE-LAX-ORD-HPN) and have been in the US since then. Can I send PMs? I don't know if I can due to the new BC changes -- that was why I posted to your Facebook wall re: the museum show. Will copy this to your talk since I'm not sure if you're watching me. Glad to hear from you! TravellingCari 02:27, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- BC locals - I don't think I have any common history with wikifolk in NYC. 4 July 2006 was my twelve hours in New York. I think you were still in Japan then. Thebiblioholic gave me a mostly pre-dawn tour of Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Staten Island ferry, before noticing that I was falling asleep in the middle of sentences and dumping me back at the airport. Last year I flew into JFK from DFW mid arvo, and the flight to Sydney left just before dusk, so I didn't try to meet anybody, just had a shower and lapped up the freebie internet in the lounge. JFK to SYD counts as one flight against the twenty on the ticket, doesn't use up a North American transcontinental leg, and it earns bulko credits. Same with LHR to LAX. I don't know if you can still do PMs, can't see why not, but I'm happy to give you wings. Just for being an angel. --Pete (talk) 03:03, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry about wings but thanks for the offer, I don't use the site that often. I just knew PMs was one of the new changes as there's been an increase of chatter on BookMooch, etc. and some of the other off shoots and book sites because of the changes and an inability to send PMs. I have fun registering and releasing -- I always got far more into BCAUS than I did bOokcrossing in general. July 4th, that's right. I was back from Japan but I still don't think I was in New York. Might have gone to Boston to see family otherwise I'm sure we'd have tried to catch up. Will rassle up some local BC folks once your dates are set. I'm planning my next trip -- a belated birthday since we have a big event right after my birthday and won't be able to take time then. Not sure where I'm going. Going to be a case of eenie meenie miney mo. TravellingCari 03:15, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Nope, not Nothing444, he wasn't around for the 2 years this person talks of. But I would not be surprised if this was another banned sock. Hello
You can still speak to me you know!! How are doing with the museums? ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:53, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Hello! Yes don't worry about that, we've got the page locked for a week now -so it will save me having to revert. Yes as an admin you probably have more stuff to preoccupy you now. I am rather a bit bogged down with things to do on here at present as I had intended developing some of those museums!! The last museum I started was one in Rwanda I think.. Are there any in particularly you are writing? ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:06, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes I've noticed your name a lot at some of the AFD closures. In fact you closed one of mine earlier, a Costa Rican politician I started a "Sectretary of State" and "President candidate" who was deemd "non notable" to the uploader. I really think there ought to be change in the nom prcedure where there is a preliminary stage where clear SNOWBALLS are filtered out of the AFD process. Look after yourself and keep in touch every now and then! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:18, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
oh I'd love your help with translating the costa rican politicians, I stubbed them all from spanish wiki a week ago and haven't got around to expand them. I've written the first 50 in the spanish politicians cat though!! COuld you help? ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Great thanks. Yes I need Santiago Alba Bonifaz, Mario Amilivia and Manuel de Alday y Aspée translated. Then I;ve nearly done the Spanish politicians that I started and will steadily plough through Category:Costa Rican politicians. So far I;ve only done the first one!! Any help you can give me would be awesome but don't feel under pressure, all in good time. I'm going to try to do one or two a day. I;d imagine there are many museums on spanish wikipedia too which ar eeither stubs or don't exist on here too! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:44, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Have a look at some of the ones I've translated so far! (Just so you know that I do fill articles out!!). It seems most of my articles you come across are the stubbies and it makes me look like a lazy bones!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:13, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Chinandega (qith help from Polylerus), La Palma, Chalatenango, University of El Salvador Apastepeque, Altamirano, Chiapas, Culture of El Salvador, Andrés de Santa María, 1811 Independence Movement, Santiago José Celis and David Joaquín Guzmán, Martín Cárdenas (botanist), Battle of Acajutla, Diego de Holgiun, Coffee production in Ecuador , Caracas Aerial Tramway, Tioda, Iglesia de la Matriz etc.
♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:46, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Lovely. Eesh I can't remember which stubs I've created. En masse are the ones which strangely now have their own national museum templates!! South Korea, Thailand, Egypt and Greece I think. Most of them were in the WP:Museums missing list that I blue linked. There were some African museum stubs I created for most of the countries too. I filled out a few like Ahmed Shawki Museum but haven't had the time to do them all yet. Hey have a look at Image:Sierra Leone Road.jpg. A natural photo do you think or aapint art enhancment? The colour looks, well just too tropical doesn't it!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:19, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
You mean the Royal Thai Airforce museum? I;m not surprised as it is located at Don Muang International Airport which is enormous!! and gets millions of passengers. There should be a lot of information on most places in Bangkok, including all those museums!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:26, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes there is that problem with languages isn't there. For many places there is a lot more info on web than we think, the same for countries like Russia and Arabic countries which have different writing systems so google doesn't pick up the english command! Once I've finished my template run I'll have a browse on spanish wiki and if possible make a list of missing museums that have articles on there but not on here. Probably many in Spain and some Latin AMerican countries. SOund good? On second thoughts probably best to fill out what we've got first but it wouldn't hurt to see what they've got! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:33, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Cool. I didn't know you were a New Yorker. Thats I great. I've visited New York twice although not since 9/11. I had forgotten how big Long Island was though. I was looking at it in 3D on google earth the other day and its quite large. Wow theres probably enough museums in New York city and the state to keep you going for months alone!! The shopping in NYC is just amazing. The size of Macy's blew my head off! Second time I went saw Woody Allen in a bookstore. He had cap on pulled down low and a duffel coat that was too big for him. I wouldn't have recognised him but my dad nudged me and whsipered "That guy over there is Woody Allen". It just looked like a frail old man! Broadway was awesome too I watched Jesus Christ Superstar. Yes I love travel, its in the genes, I come from a travel obsessed family. The main problem is money. At present I have the time to travel but can't really afford it!! If I was working gruelling full time shifts I would have more money but considerably less time to travel!! My sister is out in South America at present. She flew to Rio and has now reached Macchu Pichu. She has had a lot of interesting stories to tell about Bolivia. In Potosi, a mining town, it is as easy to buy dynamite and explosives at a market stall as it is a banana. She suffered form the altitude sickness though. It is at least 4058 meters (13313 feet) above sea level and given that she is accustomed to living at sea level a sustained stay at this level seriously affects oxygen levels and blood flow to the organs around the body and has all kinds of side effects. Most people who visit La Paz have their stay ruined by sickness and lack of appetite because it is one of the highest cities in the world. Shes out there for seven weeks. As a school teacher she has more holidays than people with other jobs so it suits her well. Now that would be a great trip. I've always wanted to go to Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet too The Bald One White cat 09:17, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
If you have time have a watch of this. It is a documentary on a British guy going honey hunting in Nepal. it will amaze you, plus there is some good scenery. The Bald One White cat 09:30, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I;ve just noticed that this article is missing!! The Bald One White cat 17:45, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I would love it if you could give a hand translating some of the sections to Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica i just started. I've made a good start but its rather large to take on solely. PLus I;ve now translated around 6 or 7 Costa Rican politicians! The Bald One White cat 14:44, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. The Bald One White cat 10:18, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
No entiendo
Hi Cari. Contrary to what many people believe, Portuguese and Spanish are fairly different languages. I can understand some Spanish when I hear it on the radio, but I never read any Spanish language publications. I am afraid that I am the wrong person to provide translation services. Thanks for thinking of me. Ecoleetage (talk) 03:31, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

The return of Malta Enterprise
I got distracted (not difficult), but I finally returned to that once-deleted item: Malta Enterprise. I have to keep it stubby for now -- too much available data will steer it into spam territory. Thanks! Ecoleetage (talk) 16:23, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Standing Rock
I need to know why you removed the article, “Standing Rock of Eufaula” I source everything that was requested. It almost as if you don’t want the information.(Nfarrow (talk) 03:00, 20 August 2008 (UTC))
- Because the article had been deleted multiple times, including once at Afd. Your choice not to respect the fact that the information is already covered in the article about the lake is unfortunate. You're welcome to add the information there. It is not independently notable, you were warned multiple times (blanking your page doesn't negate warnings) to not recreate the page. You didn't listen and the re-direct is now protected. The information is welcome, in its appopriate location, which is Eufaula Lake#Standing Rock. Recreating the article will result in yor being blocked. TravellingCari 03:04, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
OK, well can I at lest add a picture of standing rock in the Eufaula Lake#Standing Rocksection? Even though it's not the lake image. also other admins have stated that only one picture per article. I feel personally, as well as having talked to numerous people from the area, that it is important to have something more about "standing rock of Eufaula", such as the history behind it. History is something that is preserved by documentation and even word of mouth, i feel like this is somewhere we can preserve the history behind Standing Rock, a precious place located under the lake... it is NOT just a rock, it has important significance to this area, and It is rather unfortunate your admins cannot see that. It is special to the elders of the Lake Eufaula area, and I believe it should be mentioned here, so younger people can get to know it, and understand the history behind "standing rock." If you could please help me on what I CAN do to actually keep a new article on standing rock of Eufaula, so that it wont be deleted or that I will be blocked from your website. Again, i stress this is important to the area and It is much deserved to have a Wiki Article. Thank you so much for your time, and I hope something can be done about this, i cannot stress enough how I truly feel this histroy of such a historic monument to the area should be mentioned in its own article, it isn't just a precious historic place for the Lake Eufaula area, but to all of Oklahoma.(Nfarrow (talk) 06:01, 20 August 2008 (UTC))
- You need to discuss this on the lake's talk page. No admin gets the final say on a number of pictures, that's decided by consensus among those writing the article. I commented it out here because it doesn't belong on a user talk page. Regardless of the umpteen copyright violations which have been fixed, the rock does not appear to be notable apart from the lake. It's more than welcome to be a part of the lake article and the original article location still re-directs so people can find the content. The information is there, it's the location. There is nothing wrong with writing about the rock from reliable sources. The lake is notable and the rock is a notable part of the lake. People will likely look for it in the article about the lake and a search will find it. You're more than welcome to contribute there. TravellingCari 14:01, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Knox County Courthouse
His, Thanks for your message. Thanks for finding the Tennessee article. This illustrates some of the things we're trying to do with NRHP dabs. Without the dab article, an editor may think that X Courthouse is the only one there is and create an article with that title. Having the dab shows the editor that there are others and shows the proper dab name to be used. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 19:05, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Cari. According to this search [2], it has adequate sourcing. Plus at least one English-language article. From what I can gather, it has marginal notability. Thanks. Ecoleetage (talk) 14:26, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Standing Rock part duex
Hi. Despite agreeing with you on much of what you mention above. I was actually in the middle of trying to contribute to the article in question (including making sure that the copyvio problem didn't rear its head again and getting proper references into the article, as well as trying to help the new editor contribute constructively. The article that existed was very badly written I grant you but, that was in the process of being fixed. A heads up to contributors other than the main author would have been nice (though I know not strictly required). Thanks for your time. Jasynnash2 (talk) 09:32, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jay, which is how I always read your screen name. I didn't delete the article any of the four times it happened so there really wasn't anyone for me to notify, I don't think. I just protected the re-direct after it was re-created against consensus yet again. I re-directed it to where it's already covered, in the lake. I don't understand why you and the creator can't contribute to that section of the lake's article. Do you really think the rock is independently notable from the lake? I don't see the point in taking it back to AfD when I can't see any consensus other than merge, which it currently is, back to the lake article. Do you see where I'm coming from? TravellingCari 14:03, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- All honesty I'm not sure if it is truly notable independant of the lake (that was part of what I was trying to work out) while trying to get an article by an apparent new user up to snuff a bit. I'm not saying the creator can't contribute to the section at the other article or even endorsing his/her behaviour. Most of the deletion history I could find was around the copyvio and the recreation of previously deleted material. Since the article as it existed while I was working on it was neither copyvio (as far as I could findout) not substantially similar to the deleted material (not 100% on that as non-admins can't see that stuff). I was trying to WP:AGF on the matter and contribute to building what may have been an appropriate article. All I saw in my watchlist was you having protected it (and I don't believe I said you'd deleted it or anything). Either way, you've got more experience here than I do and I don't really care enough about the subject itself to put up any sort of fight. Jasynnash2 (talk) 14:14, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Got it. There were still large chunks that were copyvio. I think part of teaching a new user, which I agree is a good thing, is creating articles or sections where they belong according to guidelines/precedent, etc. It's as I said above, the information is wonderful, if it's in the right place. I think a user will get more frustrated if s/he's continuing to re-create the article in the wrong place and it gets repeatedly deleted rather than learning where the info belonged. Got it re: notifications, I thought you thought I deleted it, and that's why you were asking me to notify. Was confused, sorry. I didn't actually notify the creator either, just warned him to stop re-creating. Thoughts? I don't have any vested interest in whether it stays or goes, I think the info needs to be in the right place. TravellingCari 15:00, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Steve Crossin & RyRy
Cari, could you explain something about your comments over at RfA to me? I don't know Steve well, and RyRy less, but I did once look at Steve's adopt-a-user program and found it to be much more thourough and substantive than other adoptee programs I had looked at. This gave me a very positive impression of Steve. But then I heard that he left the project, and now know not what to think. Could you explain your concerns to me? Unschool (talk) 03:28, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, Unschool. First of all, I have to say I would have been neutral/oppose anyway due to past interactions with Ryan and a general feeling that he's not ready to be an admin. Not to say I wouldn't ever support, but not now. This is probably the best explanation of the situation that evolved with regard to Steve. In short, Steve was found to have accessed two admins' accounts inappropriately. That leads me to question his judgement as well as question what kind of lessons he might have taught. But yes I agree, he had extensive and well developed adoptee programs and I generally think Steve was a good editor - I had positive interactions with him prior to this - this takes my neutral/oppose to an oppose. This RFA will probably pass and I think Ryan will learn to be a good admin, I just don't think he's ready now and I think more learning will be a good thing. As I've said to others, there's no deadline on wikipedia and I don't think rushing to be an admin is a good thing. Does this answer your question? Feel free to ask for clarification but I'm going to be headed to bed shortly - would answer you in the morning. TravellingCari 03:40, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I think that that's enough info. I'm not sure if it would really have impacted RyRy's "education", but I understand your concern. And I must say, given what I've heard about RyRy in the past, I am surprised that his nom is coming up this fast. I shall not vote, as I am not well-enough informed about RfA stuff to participate, but I do look in once in a while when I see a name up for RfA that I've seen around the project. Anyway, thanks again. Unschool (talk) 03:46, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I agree, being well-informed is a good thing. I think more people need to be involved with RfA (not necessarily in its current form - but speaking of the process of granting adminship to editors as a whole) in order for it to work well but I understand your reasons for not participating. Given that he said two weeks ago he wasn't ready, I'm doubly surprised but two weeks feels different to different people. Have a good day/night. TravellingCari 04:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Teh current dramaz
Thanks for stepping in on the AN/I thread. I'm going to see what I can do to add these articles onto my watchlist. I confess I have little ability to tell which Ettinger links are good and which are fluff/puffery. I just think blanking all references to her isn't a good or encyclopedic solution. Feel free to pass any articles you'd like me to monitor along on my talk page but I'll try to find them through a global search. Cheers, Pigman☿ 22:39, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
foot groups
Certain articles regarding feet, health and what else may require urgent editings due to substandard content or articles not meeting the neutral points of view. However can you do this and not get accused of vandalism 'cause it's rather complicated to avoid vandalism accusation. Atkinson 02:52, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
My askings regard foot arches, foot condition, foot styles, etcetera! I happen being feminine-questions about arches for human feet are under controversy>high arches are getting called into debate, medium arches and low arches. And foot studies are based on not good study or very flawed evidence. Also, the toes regarding humans feet are constantly under scrutiny-people keep debating about whatever constitutes as "normal toes" even though there is no such thing as "normal toes" for truth. My starting interests with editing Wikipedia will be for health, family and children related issues. Atkinson 03:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
