User talk:Stan2525/Archive3
Hi. Template:User wishful has been nominated for speedy deletion under the new criterion. I've removed the speedy deletion tag in an attempt to slow the pace of this whole back and forth, but if you could remove it from your user page as a show of good faith that would be great. Everyone involved needs to step back a bit and try talking a little bit. Thanks,

Image Tagging Image:Rose Island Issue 03 x500.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Rose Island Issue 03 x500.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dethomas 20:09, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Another Esperanzial note...
[edit]Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.
Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

I don't know what it's like in Kiswahili, but in South African languages you either speak the language or are capable of speaking it. Besides, "first language" and "second language" are English specific idioms and they would make little sense when traslated litterally to most other languages.

Censorship?
[edit]Can you please justify your accusations of "censorship" on your user page? If Wikipedia's policies are deleting some userboxes, that isn't censorship. Karmafist's Special Request
[edit]I have a request of my fellow candidates, and of the voters -- that all candidates give a vote to every other candidate.
It may seem that this request goes against the idea that leadership and potential leadership of our group should be neutral, a precedent that has been followed since the beginning of Esperanza by JCarriker, but I beg to disagree.
For one, mathematically all votes would be cancelled out, but unlike if we stayed silent, we are showing an affirmation of our support for each other.
To me, that's what Esperanza's about. I've had disagreements with many people in Esperanza, but i'll always support them in some form or another as long as I believe as they'll do the same for me -- as long as we're unified in a belief that kindness can cure the ills of Wikipedia as a whole.
Karmafist 04:08, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- Wikizach supports this request
- Dakota Kahn supports this request and did this in the last election for maintaining neutrality.
Thank You

[edit]Kelly Martin and her crew of followers is apparently back to their old tricks, and now looking to destroy the Puerto Rican independence userbox with a Speedy Deletion. This is yet another attempt to push one POV by just calling the opposing side "polemical or inflammatory", and in this case it is an attempt to push the ridiculous line that Puerto Rican independence is "inflammatory" while continued U.S. occupation (with its assassinations and arrests of independistas) is perfectly okay.

Atlee Yarrow
[edit]I see that you've reverted my changes to Atlee Yarrow, and I must say I'm not exactly sure why. I have some questions: a] do you think that this article, as it stands, takes a correct NPOV and encyclopedic tone? and b] do you think your reversion is more NPOV and encyclopedic than my version?
I ask because, in my opinion, the article as it stands now is a mixture of puff piece and campaign literature. Moreover, it has a ton of unverifiable content in it now. For example, the first paragraph of background describes the thoughts and perceptions of a 12-year-old boy. It has a pretty autobiographical tone, simply because there are statements in this article now which only Yarrow himself could state.
I'm willing to put some effort into editing this to bring it up to standard, but before I do that I'd like to know what your reasons were for reverting so perhaps we can come to some sort of consensus. --Deville (Talk) 08:31, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

And, if I could just jump for a second. Please don't identify edits in a content dispute as vandalism. Thanks for uploading Image:RA spoof logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. Unless they've accomplished something else (as with Lisa Tucker), American Idol semifinalists don't merit independent articles. All of the 12 finalists do, however, so when Young makes it, you can restore his article. Note also that his one-sentence article didn't say anything that's not already contained in the season 5 article. Postdlf 22:29, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Your help
[edit]Revolucion, I'm hoping I can get your help with something. You used to post a lot on the Democratic Party article. There's a big controversy brewing at a similar topic, Democratic-Republican Party. This party, as you know is the precursor of the Democratic Party. It was started by Jefferson in 1792. Jefferson called in the "Republican Party," but historians have called it the "Democratic-Republican Party" for a century. Now some Republicans (I think) want to change the name of the "Democratic-Republican Party" aticle to "Republican Party." I'm not sure, but I think these guys have some kind of agenda for stealing Jefferson's party from the Democrats. Anyhow, if you would weigh in in favor of keeping the name "Democratic-Republican Party," I would appreciate it. Griot 01:38, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update
[edit]As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Li Hongzhi page, plus Falun Gong generally
[edit]I left this comment for you on the Li Hongzhi talk page[1], the dates were fairly far apart (for wikipedia time), and there was no response. I'll stick in below, here. My concerns are fairly simple and probably obvious to you from this:
Revolucion I would please suggest you to find and read the whole sections where Li Hongzhi has talked about homosexuals and homosexuality, not just those things from Rick Ross. I practice Falun Gong, and I do not worship Li Hongzhi. I do not know why you describe Falun Gong as a cult. It is free and open to anyone, there are no rules or regulations, there is no money involved, people come and go as they want, everything is voluntary; Olaf (another editor) described it as a set of free teachings. We do not want to harm anyone or restrict their rights. The reason we are practicing Falun Gong is to attain the Tao and go back to the origin of existence. We cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance; they are the main principles of Falun Gong. I am not sure if you have heard this before. My understanding of the things Li Hongzhi has said about homosexuality is because homosexuality is seen as something that is against the cosmos, against the Tao, or the natural order. The idea is that those engaged in homosexual behaviour are actually already harming themselves. I have said that I do not have a problem with everything Li Hongzhi has said being reported, but I have always spoken about reporting everything responsibily and with context. I am writing all this because this is the first time I have seen you posting here, and maybe you didn't know. It is good that you actually acknowledge the persecution. It is a miserable feature of those who are against or do not understand the teachings of Falun Gong, that they will even begin trying to justify a cruel and inhumane genocide. That is really the worst thing. Have you read about the cases of torture, rape, injections with nerve-damaging drugs, beatings, burnings, and now, even organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners? I think it is good for a person to keep a spirit of healthy disagreement at times, but it's a shame when some basic things like the genuinely benign nature of the practice and the utter cruelty of the persecution are overlooked.--Asdfg12345 19:54, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:Imclogo.gif, PD or Fair Use?
[edit]Hi! Regarding this image you uploadad: Do you know the author of this image? Why do you think this image is copyrighted? I want to use this in a userbox, however, cannot because it is taged as {{logo}}. My understanding of Indymedia (anarchist, no central authority, participants generally eschew capitalist principles e.g., intellectual property, etc.) leads me to find the copyrighted/logo assertion dubious. I have spent a couple of hours looking and cannot determine the copyright status nor the identy of the original author. If possible, could you look into this, and depending on what you find, consider changing the licensing tag to one of the PD or Free catagories on this page? Thanks --Bill Huston (talk) 09:57, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Piggy backing on this request; if you're going to change the license to a free license, we'll need some means of verifying that the image is in fact available under a free license, such as a copy of an e-mail from the license holder to m:OTRS or a contact point, or a URL pointing to a release statement for the image. --Durin 13:34, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]An image you uploaded, Image:Cozumel city seal.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag.
