Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of G-A-Y,GoodAsYou, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.sawnet.org/orgns/good_as_you.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) A tag has been placed on G-A-Y,GoodAsYou requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.sawnet.org/orgns/good_as_you.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but in this recent edit you removed a speedy deletion tag from G-A-Y,GoodAsYou, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Promotional editing

[edit]

Please exercise caution when writing about things that you are personally involved in. Many of the edits you made came across as promotion for the groups as opposed to neutral, encyclopedic content. I would probably recommend that since you are a new user, that you start small and join up with an applicable WikiProject such as Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies. This isn't to say that you can't edit, but the issue here was that you were writing in a tone that came across as very, very promotional. No matter how good your intent is or how helpful or noble the groups might be, you still have to write about them in a neutral and encyclopedic manner. We're not really here to serve as a listing for every group out there and you have to show how each group passes notability guidelines before adding them to articles or making a page for them. A tag has been placed on Bangalore Queer Pride March requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Promotional editing

[edit]

Hello SriniBlr. I see that there were a couple of articles deleted after you were told about the promotional editing issue before, so I wanted to make sure you'd noticed the advice you were left there. While you may be supporting a good cause, Wikipedia articles must be strictly neutral and may not promote anyone or anything, not even good causes. Please be careful to do that. When starting articles going forward, it might be a good idea to start them as a draft so you can get feedback from experienced editors prior to the page going into the encyclopedia. Drafts still can't be blatant ads, but in practice, a little more leeway is given on draft articles than ones in mainspace. Additionally, drafts don't have to immediately assert and show notability, though of course they do need to before they go into the encyclopedia. I think the suggestion of getting some help and advice from a relevant Wikiproject is good as well, since they can often provide some feedback and advice. If you continue to go forward with the promotional editing, it would instead be necessary to block you from editing, and that's not an outcome anyone wants to see. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:41, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
