Wikipedia is not for how-to guides or advice[edit]

Hi SrajanMishra89! Thank you for your editing. Unfortunately, although cleaning and care instructions ARE useful to know, they are also not encyclopaedic and should not be on Wikipedia for this reason. I am sorry as I know it must be disheartening to have your edits reversed like this, but please be reassured that it is not personal. We hope you will continue editing Wikipedia with more enyclopaedic information, rather than adding how-to guides or care instructions which are not within the project's scope. Conflict of interest in Wikipedia[edit]

Hi SrajanMishra89 I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia. All of your edits to date have added content from TSI. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.

Information icon Hello, SrajanMishra89. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

Comments and requests[edit]

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by our WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with TSI? You can answer how ever you wish (giving personally identifying information or not), but if there is a connection, please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works. Please reply here - I am watching this page. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 19:11, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jytdog, I was reading up on fabrics for a project, how they are made, their history , how to care for them and so on. I came across a video from TSI which led me to their website. I realized wikipedia had a lot of information on fabrics but did not have any info on fabric care. So, I decided to add to it to help out anyone who looks up fabrics on wikipedia. However, when I got message from another of your team member saying fabric care info is useful but not meant for wikipedia, I did not add anything further. Apologize for any inconveniences caused.SrajanMishra89 (talk) 19:22, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for replying but you didn't directly answer which is disappointing. You appear to be editing under your real name, and several websites report that Srajan Mishra is a cofounder of TSI. Would you please answer the question directly? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 19:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
jytdog, I apologize for the secrecy. If you see my facebook, linkedin profiles, you will realise I work in another company. I am one of the co founders but I do not make this info public as it can cost me my job. Hence, I preferred not to disclose this information. I assure you there was no negative intent behind this. Neither was my intent when I updated the pages. It was purely for addition of information as I sincerely thought it belonged there. Since it has been removed, I have not tried to debate it or anything else. I was not clear with the rules of how-to guides not being entertained in wikipedia and I have already apologized for that inconvenience. Regret this mishap and it won't happen again.SrajanMishra89 (talk) 20:15, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Please review WP:PAID which is policy and please do not direct add content about your company to Wikipedia. If you want to add content where you have a COI, please suggest the content on the talk page of the relevant article, and disclose your COI when you do that. Thanks.
