Speedy deletion nomination of Predexlms
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Predexlms, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Anthem of joy (talk) 12:23, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Advice
[edit]The problem is that Wikipedia is not for what you want to do, if I understand it right: you want to promote a new product, Wikipedia is not for any kind of promotion, and only covers things that are already established.
The hurdles you would have to surmount are:
- Conflict of interest. You have an interest in promoting your product, we want a neutral encyclopedia. That situation is called WP:Conflict of interest, and means that what you write will be viewed with suspicion. There is a code of practice at WP:BESTCOI: in brief, don't make changes or post articles yourself, propose them declaring your interest, and let uninvolve users decide.
- Notability. Wikipedia is not a "List of everything", it is selective about article subjects. The criterion is called Notability, and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people independent of the subject thought it important and significant enough to write about?
- Promotional tone. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a notice-board, and is not for promotion of any kind; anything that reads like an advertisement will be speedily deleted, as your first version was. An encyclopedia article is a quite different thing from an organisation's own website, or an advertisement: it requires a WP:Neutral point of view. Do not use "peacock terms", unsupported adjectives of praise - Wikipedia's WP:Verifiability policy requires that "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source". Imagine a hostile critic looking over your shoulder, constantly asking "Who says so? Can you prove it?" Put absolutely out of your mind any idea that you are writing for the company: you are writing about it, from outside, neutral facts supported by reliable sources.
- Ownership: nobody owns a Wikipedia article, not its first author and certainly not its subject. Other people can and will edit it, you will not be able to insist on your preferred version, and you may encounter Wikipedia's Law of Unintended Consequences.
I am sorry to be discouraging but, as I said, Wikipedia is not meant for what you want to do, I think it unlikely that you will be able to make an acceptable article, and I do not want you to waste a lot of time on it.
If you want to go ahead:
- Read WP:Your first article and the WP:FAQ/Organizations
- Make a draft in your use space - see Help:Userspace draft for how - making sure that it is not promotional and that it give references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources
- If you like, ask for comment at WP:Requests for feedback
- Propose it at WP:Articles for creation, where either it will be accepted or you will be told why not.
