The style scout

[edit]

The article The style scout has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. See WP:ATTRIBUTION. NawlinWiki 00:21, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lily 1.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:LilyA 1.jpg. The copy called Image:LilyA 1.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 11:33, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!! and welcome!

[edit]

Thanks for the fantastic image of Gareth Pugh. It's great to have someone involved in the fashion industry at Wikipedia, because fashion enthusiasts here are few and far between. You might want to check out the fashion wikiproject for the community that is here, and see what articles are being worked on. I started the wikiproject, but I'm not editing fashion articles as much this last month or two.

Also be sure to specify the sources of your other photos so they don't get deleted. (If you took them, great. If you snagged them from the internet, it's just a matter of time before they're deleted by an administrator.) If you need help with that, let me know and I can show you the ropes.

If you need help recreating your article about the style scout so it doesn't get deleted, I could help with that too. While wikipedia frowns on articles being created by someone who has a conflict of interest (see WP:COI), it can be done if you cite third-party sources that are covering your website. I have your blog in my RSS reader so hopefully there's some non-trivial news coverage of it so it's notable enough to be included here. (Check out WP:N for the minimum requirements.)

Anyways, welcome! We're glad to have you! Calliopejen1 13:28, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A couple more thoughts. When you're uploading images and releasing them under a creative commons license, it's better to upload them at wikimedia commons than at wikipedia. You can link to the images from within wikipedia just the same way, but then people from other language wikipedias can access the images as well. (I'm sure the French wikipedia, for instance, would love to add your Carine Roitfeld picture.) Also, sad but true--your beautiful fashion images are going to be cropped into head and shoulders portraits. Wikipedia's an encyclopedia, that's how it goes. Hope to see more of your images getting uploaded! Calliopejen1 13:46, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
