Thanks for the thanks!

[edit]

(Editing/devandalizing Wikipedia is usually a literally thankless task.)
Years ago I'd seen Advise and Consent and liked it; this week I was finally reading the novel, and thanks to WP learned to my surprise that they were partly based on actual events - hence my Lester C. Hunt edits.
What a tragic story... —EqualRights (talk) 00:22, 11 March 2009 (UTC) Yeah. That story's pretty amazing. I was interested to read Vito Russo's critiques of the movie as full of stereotypes but the origin/background is the more compelling story.--Splendoroftheirroots (talk) 18:35, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on National Poetry Writing Month requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:44, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to compliment you on the good work you've done on the Deborah Digges article. Viriditas (talk) 01:22, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for the compliment. I was surprised she did not have a page and did what I could to create one. --Splendoroftheirroots (talk) 22:02, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tabitha Soren

[edit]

Hello Splendor, I have reverted your addition of the 'mondegreen' urban legend to the Tabitha Soren article; it never happened. Please see my edit summary and the article's talk page for details. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 18:05, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jamaica businesses

[edit]

Thanks for the note! First off, the problem is likely with the other pages that you mention; per this policy page, we shouldn't have business directories of any sort. There's nothing wrong with including an economy section, and major employers might fit, but among other things you need reliable sources, properly cited, for these employers. For a good example, see Barton's economy section. Nyttend (talk) 00:24, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:25, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Alexander McKelway, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Minister and Reformer (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:13, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Sixto Pondal Ríos may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • '''Sixto Pondal Ríos''' (April 8, 1907 ([[San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina]] - September 29, 1968 [[Buenos Aires, Argentina]]
