RE Inserting Tables
I found the template for the tables from this page 2012 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament: qualifying teams, I then went to the 2011 NCAA Tournament main page and just copyed what they had and pasted it on the 2012 main page, I just replaced 2011 with 2012. I'm not sure if this helps or not, hopefully it does. Eh Oh Canada (talk) 20:31, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Improper delete of CVE
Hi, I see you deleted CVE as a G12 copyright infringement. Actually the page that was tagged as the source of the copyright violation was a mirror of Wikipedia. Can the page be restored? Thanks. Zad68 (talk) 12:52, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Restored. I saw "all rights reserved" on that page. They are violating our copyright, but that is a different issue.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:39, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Need Help
Hello, A good afternoon to you. Some newcomers coming from temples are tying to edit materials in a poor way i.e they're removing contents without giving reasons and also adding unsocial contents in an article viz. Uttar Pradesh. This vandalizing can be seen on articles talk page. Is there any way to stop adding unnecessary things on article.pls help. Thank youRpaigu 09:28, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Thankful
Hiiii, thanks for replying. I was told that you won't be here for 2-3 days, so i am writing today. Anyway, as far as article concern, they occasionally or whenever they get realized that they can also edit on page. Well i am not saying to bite newcomers because i was a newcomer once too :D :D Just need to indicate, anybody can edit on article but nobody should used to add unnoticeable things. Once here have been section in which someone had added the info. about "khap panchayat people",(khap panchayat is a group of people in villages who are against love marriages in india. They had hanged so many youth indians who were going for love marriages, very awkward and quick-tempering but its true.It is very crucial and controversial topic can also able to spread some kind of riots, and only 4-5% part of the state includes this kind of khap panchayats, so there is strictly no need of describing. I immediately removed that section by giving an warning on talk page. But it was necessary. Despite being this on nov'2000 state was formed into a new state called Uttarakhand. Now this has been mentioned on head of the article, even though it was seen in middle of the article, removed later. ok now the next thing is about the cities. When you are going to read the page thoroughly, you will that exactly 5-6 city's have been mentioned again and again also language used there doesn't seem to be fulfill wikipedia policy,m talking about grammer, where to use capital and small letters etc. Recently census have occurred in India,(census 2011), but there is no literacy figures, sex ratio etc. But besides one of the most important deed is references. References are used to verify whether a user had edited really exits or not we all are well aware of it.Uttar Pradesh's references feels like it is added just to show that "we have added references and you can't say its a without references or put notices". Those are looking just to fulfill Wikipedia's rules. Rules are no more if they are followed for showing. And there is lots more tell but its difficult.Eventually i am hearty pardon, if i've used any kind of bad language or words while writing so many words. I also expect you to always help me regarding articles and everything necessary for a best wikipedian. Please keep guiding and cooperating me. I'd tried to give my best here, overall depends on you. once again ThanksRpaigu (talk) 09:15, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Pawn Stars
Hi, Sphilbrick. Regarding your addition to the Pawn Stars article, the list in question is for recurring experts, so it is restricted to those who've appeared in a minimum of two episodes. When a new expert shows up, they are placed on the list on the article's talk page, and then moved to the article when they've appeared in a second episode. Mark Lyons is on that talk page list, for having appeared in one episode that I know of. I could be wrong, but if he's appeared in two, can you cite them in the inline cite that follows the other experts in the article? The only citation you gave was of a personal blog, which cannot be used as a source under WP:USERG. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 20:12, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Please feel free to revert. Mark Lyons was requesting confirmation so he could add himself (which he didn't need). However, I thought I would go ahead and add him, as I found some supporting evidence. As you point out, the evidence is a blog; I didn't realize there was a minimum of two experts. I weas just trying to be nice to a potential new editor, but may have over-stepped.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 20:23, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

- Hi, Wikipedia received an email, which I processed as part of OTRS. I'm not permitted to share the content without permission. I can do one of two things:
- If you can supply an email address to me (via email, if you wish), I can pass it on to the person inquiring, and you two can talk.
- If can write to the person, and ask for permission to forward their email on to you. I would copy and paste it into our email system, or forward it to you if I get an email address form you.
- I did get a response that the individual would try to contact you, but that may not yet have happened.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:56, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

FINNOV copyright infringment

Just click on "New Section" and that will do it automatically. You can respond to this section is you want to discuss this further.)--SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:59, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi again. Yes I've read it and I think that there's a basic misunderstanding here. I was part of the FINNOV project and the copyrighted material you refer to is material I made myself with our team, all I was trying to do was uploading information about the project, since it became very notable and we had a lot of people asking about it. The website related to the project will shut down in 4 years' time, but the academic results from the research have been praised and referred to by many economists, politicians and researchers, other than receiving media coverage, so we would like to keep an information page on such project that features on a lot of online articles, journals etc...
I hope this clear things up. Please let me know ASAP as I don't have a lot of time left that was originally allocated for this project.
Thanks!

You wrote: I'd like to help you improve your references. I see that you have quite a few. You may not know that there are templates for adding certain types of references, in particular, journals. It is a "gadget", I think, if you don't know what I'm talking about, let me know and I'll check into how to enable it for you. It make it easier, though still not easy to add references. In particular, it makes it easy to add a PMID. I added one to the Howell reference - your first reference. I did not remove yours, I renamed it "Howell old" , but I wanted to add one so you could see how it looks. Again, the main point is that it has an online link to the article.-
I am an utter newbie, so I don't know anything about formatting references. I had a more "Wiki literate" friend sit with me and put the references in their current state. I do not want to spend time polishing the references now--e.g. adding PMIDs. My priority is to get my article up on Wikipedia as soon as possible in its current state. I plan to continue to edit it in various ways after it is up. It will be of enormous help to me and my colleagues to be able to refer "IMC newcomers" to the Wikipedia IMC page to get up to speed on the method and its uses. - In one case, there was a colon before the word "file". That is commonly done, but it is a way to make the image not appear, just display as a name. It may have been inadvertent, but however it got there, I simply removed it. In the other cases, you had placeholder names for the files, I replaced them with the actual names. If this is too cryptic, ask, and I'll explain further.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 11:22, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

OTRS 2012051010007881
Hi, are you sure the permission in OTRS 2012051010007881, for File:Uraeus Cobra figures, Reverse side of the throne of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egypt.jpg, was plausible? Did it really come from the Erich Lessing website? From what the uploader said on-wiki, it was extremely hard to make heads or tails from his claims, and the claim that he was a student of the website owner and contributed the file there sounded extemely fishy. Have we got independent confirmation for it now? Fut.Perf. ☼ 07:11, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Brady Salee to Ball State
I cannot understand why you would make the change that Brady Sallee was named the new coach at Ball State and not make most of the changes that needed to be made to the article to reflect his change of status. I took care of them, plus the OVC navbox & the Ball State Cardinals page. GWFrog (talk) 02:45, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- I thank you for doing that. I have hundreds of pages for which I try to take responsibility, but that is not one of them. I made the change in List of current NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches.
- If you glance at the history, you'll see that I've made a couple dozen changes over the past couple weeks.
- I see three options:
- Change List of current NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches, but make no change to the article about the team or coach
- Made the change to List of current NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches, and make enough of a change to the related articles so that watchers of those article can add more.
- Made the change to List of current NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches, and do a rewrite on dozens of related articles
- Obviously, you think I should go for option three, but if I did that, I'd do nothing else.
- If option 3 is not feasible, do you think I should go for option 1, or continue with option 2.
- This may come across as petulant, but it is a serious question: what would you do if you were trying to maintain a page that had related edits to hundreds of other pages?--SPhilbrick(Talk) 02:58, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- I probably would not do the single change that necessitates many others unless I had time to make them all. In this case, it might have been best to note it in the College Basketball Project that it needed doing, and someone might have got it done in a more-or-less timely manner. GWFrog (talk) 16:17, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'll try that. My last post there got zero responses from the basketball regulars, so I'm not encouraged, but I'll try it.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:32, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Gefs Online Flight Simulator
Hi... I was in the process of removing the copy/vio on Gefs Online Flight Simulator when it was deleted. Any chance of getting it back? I think it was tagged (for the wrong reasons) too quickly and I was trying to help a new editor. Thanks! Wikipelli Talk 13:49, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- It wasn't a close call, such as when material is closely paraphrased, and could be remedied with good editing. It was word for word copying. If I recall correctly. Best to start from scratch, Sorry. (If you think I'm misremembering, let me know and I'll take a second look.)--SPhilbrick(Talk) 14:03, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

- I'm in favor of cutting back on the biting. In fact you reminded me of one of my long-term goals, to rewrite the copyright template so that it isn't shouting that you will be blocked from editing on a first instance. This is hardly an example of AGF, when most new editors are simply unaware that one cannot do that. I just realized that I need to add it to my To-Do list, so I did.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 14:26, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Key Marco Cat
Does the Smithsonian have an exemption from the work product of US employees being in the public domain? I did determine that the photograph of the Key Marco Cat was taken by a Smithsonian staff photographer, and thought that put it in the public domain. -- Donald Albury 22:01, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- I was informed that the photographer in question was not a Federal employee.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 22:10, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- This article from the Washington Post says that Victor Krantz was a photographer at the Smithsonian. This page on the Smithsonian site says that he was a photographer at the Smithsonian. I could link a number of other sites stating that Victor Krantz was a photographer at the Smithsonian. He apparently was a photographer at the Smithsonian for many years. So, is the Smithsonian saying that he was not a Federal employee at the time he took the photo, or that he was never a Federal employee. If so, is the copyright held by the Smithsonian or by Victor Krantz or his heirs? If the photo is under copyright, would the Smithsonian make the sculpture available for photography. I looked for it in the National Museum of the American Indian the last time I was in D.C., but it was not on display. My understanding is that it is currently in storage. There are people selling replicas of the sculpture on-line (http://keymarcocat.com/, http://keymarcocat.com/shop.html), and images of the sculpture are plentiful on the web, just not usable on Wikipedia. I'm not prepared to fight the Smithsonian on this, but I am upset that the Smithsonian is trying to restrict availability of an image of a significant prehistoric object. If the Smithsonian does have the right to claim copyright on the image, I just want to see the justification. -- Donald Albury 02:00, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- It is clear that you made a good faith attempt to be sure of the license, and may even be right. It is not beyond comprehension that the SI could be mistaken. I'd like to ask permission to share the contact information with you, but I don't want to do that, if you are willing to contact. Are you? If so, I'll ask.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 02:14, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm willing to contact them myself. I was an OTRS volunteer a while back, so the Foundation may still have confirmation of my identity and age on file, which may make it easier to share the information with me. In the meantime, I will blank out the image on the article page, so that SI doesn't get upset. -- Donald Albury 00:59, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see your name on the list, but I'm new to that function and may not know how to look. Because you are or were an OTRS volunteer, you understand why I'm not at liberty to simply share the info with you. I am perfectly willing to contact SI, as I think it is likely they will be happy to talk to you, but I'd prefer to ask, rather than assume they won't mind. I appreciate your willingness to have the image deleted while this gets sorted out.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:06, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- As I said, it has been a while (as in years) since I was active in OTRS. I was dropped for inactivity. I'm just interested in getting clarification on the grounds for SI's claim for copyright in the image. However I receive that information is fine with me. -- Donald Albury 13:12, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I sent an email to SI asking for permission to share the contact with you. In a coincidence, I was writing the email while you were posting here.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:55, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you ...
... for the answer at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. That's exactly what I was looking for. RossPatterson (talk) 22:24, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Wasted effort
Just noticed these changes, which you made to WP:RMC. It's a sadly wasted effort, as that page is auto-generated every 20 minutes by a bot from requests posted to the talk pages of the various article. You need to edit those individually to comment on the discussions. Also, as they are not technical requests, it would be premature to decline them at this stage. - Sorry, I'll try rereading the instructions, to see what I missed.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:49, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
remaining items for James Harden move
I see that you have performed the move on James Harden. However, Talk:James Harden (basketball) has not been moved. Also, as noted in Talk:James_Harden_(basketball)#Requested_move, the page James Harden (disambiguation) needs to point to the old disambiguation page that was deleted for the move.—Bagumba (talk) 15:55, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Business Is Business move
Hello. Can please explain why you moved Business is Business (film)? It is clearly against consensus and WP:NCF. BOVINEBOY2008 18:39, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I misread the policy. What's the best next step? Move it back, or revert the move?--SPhilbrick(Talk) 18:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Since the move was against both the guideline and the emerging consensus, moving the article back would be appropriate. Favonian (talk) 19:33, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
