Notifying another editor

[edit]

You can contact Bbb23 by starting a message here like this: {{To|Bbb23}}.... Make sure to sign the message with four tildes ~~~~. Then Bbb23 will get a ping. Zerotalk 09:03, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. But which page do I leave this message on? I can't access Bbb23's talk page because the edit icon says "view source", even when I am using this new account.Specialrequestaccount (talk) 13:15, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For example, here is their talk page https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Bbb23 For me, this shows up with a "view source" where I would have tried to send them a message. Specialrequestaccount (talk) 13:17, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Put your message right here. If you do it the way I specified, they will get a notice that there is a message for them here. Zerotalk 14:02, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I'll try that now. Specialrequestaccount (talk) 17:07, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

{{To|Bbb23}}I'd be grateful if you could contact me here regarding a block on my IP server which you did on 12th April. Somebody alleged that I am a sockpuppet of an editor called TheCurrencyGuy. I am assuredly not however. The accusation involved another editor with a name something like Jahor12345 who was also blocked for being a sockpuppet of TheCurencyGuy. I have no idea whether they were or not, but I did find evidence that Jahor12345 was editing at exactly the same time as me on different articles. The only thing we seem to have in common is the fact that we were editing on currency related articles, but not with the same style or purpose. I look forward to hearing from you.~~~~

Don't use the "nowiki" tags I put in my instructions. That was just to disable the action of those items temporarily. Zerotalk 08:33, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Specialrequestaccount What exactly are you asking for here and on other pages? It seems from your own talk page messages you're quite aware of why you might have been mistaken for TheCurrencyGuy, as you acknowledged the topic overlap. You have probably read enough to understand you edit from the same geolocation as well. The fact that you remain unblocked says all you need to know about re-evaluation of this issue though. If it was still believed you were TheCurrencyGuy, this account would have been blocked. -- ferret (talk) 00:51, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ferret, Thank you very much for clarifying this matter. I'm aware as to what aroused the suspicions that I am TheCurrencyGuy, as in that we were both editing at currency related topics, but I was unaware that TheCurrencyGuy lives near to me. Anyway, if I do decide to return to editing at Egyptian pound and British currency in the Middle East, I will either set up a new account with a different username, or just continue using the IP address. This account was only set up specially for this enquiry. Originally at the beginning of April, I just used the IP server because I wasn't intending to be editing on a prolonged basis. I had been reading stuff about Egypt separating from the Ottoman Empire in the early 19th century and that led on to the issue of the schism between the Turkish piastre and the Egyptian piastre in 1844, and then I started reading related topics on Wikipedia. With the help of books that I had obtained, I set about making the history of the Egyptian pound more accurate. I'll now return and discuss the matter with the other parties that were involved. But, meanwhile, thanks for your help. Specialrequestaccount (talk) 10:16, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
