User:Finemann
Maybe you can talk to User:Finemann about the article Sreelakshmi Suresh in which you declined his A7? He subsequently went to AfD for its 2nd nomination and was also rejected almost unanimously aside from his nomination vote. Now he's marked up the article with 5 tags such as {{disputed}} and {{original research}}. All these so called "disputes" were his basis for his nominations in the AfD which were flat out rejected. He's even written a summary of all the problems -- and found citations to support his problems -- which is almost as long as the article itself rather than just fixing it. It's clear he's only here to grief actual article editors. Mkdwtalk 20:32, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, don't have the time currently to look at this article. It's been kept at AfD so I don't think notability is a question, but if he's found problems and highlighted them with cites, I'm not sure I what the issue is -- anyone can use that to clean up the article (and it definitely needs cleanup, I just didn't think it merited deletion that's all). cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 20:06, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Your collapse at Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics
Something has gone wrong with your collapsing at Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics re: Tobias. All subsequent new threads are collapsed within it. I am unsure how to fix. - Sitush (talk) 12:40, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- Is this still a problem? The threads appear to be archived now. I'm not sure why that happened though, possibly the
{{hab}}
at the end got removed. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:36, 18 August 2011 (UTC)- It is not. Someone stepped in and remove the hatting entirely, I think. Perhaps I ought to read up on that template but right now I am fighting a little edit warring at Nair :( - Sitush (talk) 07:52, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Independence day wishes
Happy independence day! Please review this page and reply on my talk page. If this message is good enough, I will add bits to it and send to all Indians on wiki at around 6. Please suggest improvements. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 12:49, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- There's some guideline on mass-posting these kind of messages somewhere, so you might want to check on that, especially since you plan on sending this to so many people. Also, given that you are sending an invitation on behalf of the wikiproject, discussing it at WT:INB prior to sending it would be appropriate. I would also steer clear of using terms such as "countryman" and reducing the nationalistic tone (in the first paragraph) especially because we have quite a few contributors to WP India related content and topics who are not Indian. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:36, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Can you semi protect Gounder (title). An ip keeps adding unrelated "see also" links. I have tried to communicate through his talk page and the article talk page, but he is not communicating and keeps readding the links. --Sodabottle (talk) 07:31, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Status of my Wikimedia Referendum 2011 Vote (on Wiki Commons)
- Hello. Yesterday I tried to vote in the image filter referendum, a referendum to gather more input into the development and usage of an opt-in personal image hiding feature.
- But there was sudden internet disruption after I pressed the "submit vote" button.
- Please let me know @ my talk page if my vote has been recorded because I am told that I can vote only once.
- Your kind gesture in this regard will help me in contributing constructively to the Wiki Projects, which is also my intention, aim and effort. Regards, Hindustanilanguage (talk) 07:12, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) To find out if the first vote was recorded - try to vote again. The system restricts one vote per registered account. If you are not able to vote again that means your previous vote was recorded.--Sodabottle (talk) 07:21, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Did you already vote on en.wiki? You're allowed to vote only once across all projects. If you haven't done so, the best place to ask for help would be the the talk page of the announcement/the secret poll talk page or at the meta help desk (this isn't something that's controlled by the local wikis). cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 09:06, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Spiff, if you read my note carefully, you will understand my point of concern. I want to cast only one vote - be it on Commons or on en:wiki. Ok? Btw, what's your take on Sodabottle's suggestion? Hindustanilanguage (talk) 09:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Try voting again (it should even work if you've already voted as it just overwrites), but the best place to ask for help is at the mediawiki page as they are the ones that control the process. —SpacemanSpiff 09:25, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Re: Caste Cat
Hi Spaceman I think it would be more appropriate to rename the category to Brahminism in Tamil Nadu because the term Tamil Brahmins denotes an individual Tamilian who is a Brahmin. Regards Sarvagyana guru (talk) 07:56, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- I have no objections to a rename, but I'd be hesitant to say in "Tamil Nadu" because this covers Sri Lanka and predates Tamil Nadu. I agree that the current title is very ambiguous. User:Pectore did some work on these cats before so I'll ask him to chime in. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 08:03, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- There was a consensus not to categorize people by caste, and to instead listify caste info about 3 years ago. Therefore no people should be in such a category. However, I think that the category name Category:Tamil Brahmins serves a purpose, to organize the different Tamil Brahmin communities, such as Sankethi people, Brahacharanam, etc. This is how Category:Nair is structured and it works out fine.Pectoretalk 18:55, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Addendum, there is a page on Tamil Brahmins and List of Iyers and List of Iyengars that more or less serves the purpose a category could serve. 'Brahminism in Tamil Nadu' is not really a workable title. The proper title is the status quo, and the term "Tamil Brahmins" indicates groups of Tamils who are Brahmin.Pectoretalk 18:59, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- How about a rename to "Tamil Brahmin communities" as an alternative? I understand your point, but SG's point is quite valid, the current title is prone to misinterpretation by good faith editors. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 09:13, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- That is not a bad idea. Only issue is that this has to be done South Asia wide, requiring a CFD I think at the least.Pectoretalk 19:06, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Let me mull over it, I just looked at the cat and not all legitimate articles in it are communities. maybe topics or some such thing. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 19:24, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you know that this editor adds rowspans to filmography tables even after multiple warnings and also removes the awards under "Notes" section without any explanation. His edits in this regard are all completely against MOS. Can you keep an eye on him. --Commander (Ping Me) 17:43, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- MOS/film articles not my area of involvement, if there's any editwarring after the warning (saw your 3RR warning, but he hasn't edited the article since), then let me know, but there are editors like BollyJeff and Managerarc who are more familiar with MOS for film articles etc. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 18:02, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
Thanks for responding to my first contribution in wikipedia. I have recently created a new article : http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Kalli_Purie and also edited the article http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Aroon_Purie by introducing an infobox in the same. Kindly review both the submissions & advice if the same are fine.
Look forward to hear from you. Kindly place a {{Talkback}}

- There's not much of a problem with your edits to Aroon Purie except that the list of awards that you added should have reliable source references. On the other hand, on Kalli Purie there are quite a few issues:
- Promotional content: The list of magazines, TV channels etc have no real relevance in this article
- POV content: phrases such as "she manages the Group’s creative expression disseminated through the magazine covers and marketing communications" do not belong in Wikipedia articles, especially in biographies. All content should adhere to WP:NPOV
- References: This is a biography of a living person and should therefore contain information that is sourced to reliable sources. e.g. "graduated from Oxford University..." maybe true, but it needs to be referenced to a reliable source.
- Also, your username is problematic -- it reflects that this is a role account from the company which violates our user name guidelines. You will need to change your user name and are also required to abide by our conflict of interest policy and guidelines. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 08:44, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
