mild religious POV pusher
FYI, 117.193.X.X seems to be a mild religious pov pusher. For the past few weeks he has been editing islam related articles, sanitising them and changing demographic data in India, by splitting up Hindu population into "dharmic"/"SC"/"ST" in Demographics of India and religion in India and edit warring in many other islam related articles. Has created an account - User:O0I1E3S5 as well, but edits logs out.--Sodabottle (talk) 09:27, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Move req
Can you pls help me move Samoothiri (Zamorin) to its old title Samoothiri (reason:conciseness). A seemingly novice user had moved it perhaps without going through WP naming standards. Thanks Arjuncodename024 18:16, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's not the only page that needs moving back, there are quite a lot, if you go through the page move logs by the user, you'll notice that. If you can go through it and give me a list, I'll take care of them all in one go over the weekend or so. —SpacemanSpiff 18:19, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- I did successfully re-move all others which i thought deserved to be. Hey, do take a look at Elephants of Kerala state. I don't even get a clue what to do with it. Arjuncodename024 07:26, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't have time for this mess currently, will sort it out slowly. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 16:29, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
User at hi.wiki
Hi, I am a sysop from hindi Wiki, A persistent vandaler Dalitwiki has arrived at en wiki with this new account and making some anti hi wiki deeds, like this image. This user was a sock of administrator rajeevmass at hi wiki and CU result confirmed him as a sock of logic.I have desysoped rajeevmass now he is creating a lots of account on hi wiki so i have blocked his ip range. Although he has nothing to do with en wiki project but he is posting some anti hindi wiki images here, please stop him.Thank you and Regards--Mayurbot (talk) 17:14, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- Unless there are some problems at en.wiki, nothing can/should be done here. If there are any problems here let me know, as of now, I don't see any, just a few templates being created. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 16:29, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Thiruvalluvar and Thirukural
Can Tirukkuṛaḷ and Tiruvalluvar be redirected to Thirukural and Thiruvalluvar please? I am assuming that these are noncontroversial moves. If in case they are, please do let me know to initiate a discussion. Cheers --Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 16:50, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Done the latter, I think the former might require a discussion. I think it's similar to a recent discussion at Pāṇini, use of diacritics is generally driven based on the scholarly sources, so open a TP discussion, if there aren't any objections then we can bypass the move req, else a move req might be in order. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 16:58, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. Although I don't think this is a case like in Panini where Google books show higher number of hits with diacritics, I guess a bit of discussion won't hurt. Better sorted than left for a million edit wars. Cheers --Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 19:17, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Only Praise should go into Wikipedia and no critisism?
Why did you delete the following critisism in personal life page of Ratan Tata?:
<redacted BLP vio>
When adulation/praise "He is a dynamic and vibrant businessman and is considered as one of the best managers never compromising on ethics and customer care.[10]" stays in?
59.93.200.103 (talk) 19:18, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- You can not give your opinion of some data, quite simple. Please read WP:BLP, and the policy applies all over the encyclopaedia and therefore here too, so I'm removing that part of the post. —SpacemanSpiff 19:29, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

- I saw it a while back, I was going to look for them on the net. Based on the appear to be lift offs from either newspaper sites or the Lok Sabha/TN Assembly portals. If you can't find a source, might as well take it to WP:PUF. —SpacemanSpiff 09:15, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

help in commons
Do you any admin in commons?. Our friend Anwar Saadat is repeatedly vandalising one of my uploads there as payback for filing the SPI. He is using an openproxy ip This has been going on for 3 days. I have posted on ANI and AIV there. But no one is responding. --Sodabottle (talk) 08:46, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- I normally just post on their admin noticeboard and someone takes care of it. There are a few admins here who also admin there and should probably be able to help out, but I can't remember of any currently. —SpacemanSpiff 09:07, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Ambarish Srivastava
- Sorry, but you can not use photographs of buildings as references for works by the person, we need reliable source references. Likewise, user submitted content sites are not valid references for poetic contributions and linking to every poem on such sites runs afoul of our external links policy. Suggest you read WP:BLP and WP:NPOV. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 08:22, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Respected Sir Spaceman Spiff, I am grateful for your kind worlds, Humbly I request you that Ambarish Srivastava is also notable as a 'Hindi' language poet so please allow to add his name in the list of hindi language poets at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_Hindi_language_poets. Thanks a lot.Spjayswal67 (talk) 09:55, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- The thing is you've got to show some reliable sources that qualify him as that, if that's done, I have no objections to inclusion in the list. Just publishing poems doesn't make one a notable poet. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 09:59, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Respected Sir, I think that's done, I have already added a reliable source about his published poetry book named 'Jo sarhad pe jaaye'("जो सरहद पे जाये")in published book section. Thanks again for your kind consideration of my humble request, Once again, I am grateful for that Sir.Spjayswal67 (talk) 10:42, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- You don't need my (or any other editor's) permission to add anything. Just make sure such sources comply with our reliable source policies when you add. If not, someone will come by and remove, just like I did with the architecture section. Please read WP:BLP and also WP:YFA as the two links will give you an idea about the policies that govern article writing, especially this one. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 15:25, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks again. Spjayswal67 (talk) 17:25, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Spjayswal67 asked my opinion. It is my view that a bibliography of a poets published works is appropriate content for someone notable as a poet, and that links to the published poems would be very appropriate references to support that. However, the article does not show notability as a poet, that seems merely incidental. The notability is as an architect. It might be possible to add an external link to the sites with his poetry. as for the architecture, there needs to be some reference to the fact that he in fact designed the building, and I do not see how photographs would establish that. But if he did, and you feely-licensed photos, they can be included in the article. DGG ( talk ) 21:56, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- This is getting rather annoying, I've just explained my reasons above and you haven't disagreed either, and now the same user contributions sites are being used to tag him as a "famous poet". Sigh. —SpacemanSpiff 04:28, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
May I know why my edit was reverted?
May I know why my edit was reverted? www.kamakoti.org link that I added is not spam, and is very appropriate in the Adi Shankara article. Please give your opinion in the Talk:Adi Shankara page. --Hinduismispeace (talk) 09:02, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- One good link in many bad links is not right, if you wanted to add one good link you should have done that. And while that link itself isn't bad, it runs afoul of our WP:EL policy as you don't externally link to all peripheral topics. —SpacemanSpiff 09:11, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Tamil lang
SpacemanSpiff,
Prathiba patil, the President of India. She is the first lady of india.
Before preparing speech her ministry would have detailed the information fully before presenting it. SpacemanSpiff you cannot deny this. Think twice. Common. Get others opinion also. I am not wrong here and sticking to neutral view only. President is not a ordinary individual in a country. President speech also denotes to current and past historical events. It does not mean like, that is her speech, so its just here view only. No it is not. review it carefully. She is addressing a cultural event of a huge repetation. So its general speech and common.
Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 12:30, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- It is a speech, not a journal publication research book etc and at best amounts to her opinion. For claims like this you need solid sources. Not some bland speech by a president. This is the reason you get branded as a fanboy by every other editor you meet.--Sodabottle (talk) 12:43, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sodabottle. when you have your own standards or approach of viewing a issue, no one can do anything. Either people should themself learn or try to get it. At a function of that much scale, a person of that high standards, why should they use it. Are they playing there?? A large amount of time would have been spend in preparing the speech before delivering. Have a clear mind and think big. how can you deny this. Its becoming so one-sided and not fair. Trying to block all ways does not mean doing good. dont have multiple standards. Its a clear proof and even after showing clear ref. I dont know what else one should do?
- Keyan, it is a learning period and takes a while. While politicians try and need to be "politically correct", they are not expected to be "scholarly correct". what you are trying to add may be more suitable in World Classical Tamil Conference 2010 as a speech given by Mrs. Patil. --CarTick (talk) 13:16, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks to stalkers for responding. Keyan20, this is not your personal forum to wonder why we should consider Patil's words as sacrosanct etc, they don't meet our requirements for something touted as "fact". That's all there is to it.—SpacemanSpiff 15:48, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Corrigendum:Ys jagan's deeksha a 'People's agitation not Party rally'
the deeksha column is important aspect as many thought this moment would lead to the downfall of the government in AP, as reports claimed that 50 mla's would support jagan. This would lead to by-elections in the state which is a tense situation but I had never mentioned this as such if I would have done so it would be a Political rally. So, rather than projecting it as party rally I intended to showcase it as a tight moment because many farmers, workers and BPL families were involved in it .My request is to undo its removal. Thank you. It would of great pleasure to me if I get a replyMidnghtchild (talk) 08:14, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
