Infobox settlement

[edit]

Hi. And welcome.

As per the documentation for the 'Infobox settlement' template, the top-most "subdivision_type" is "almost always Country". There is no convention or precedence for including higher-level supra-national entities (like the EU) in articles on tiny villages or on towns. It is, frankly, silly. Akin to a child writing their address as "my street, my city, my country, the world, the galaxy, the universe". Please stop adding this type of thing.

As per the documented guidelines for flags in infobox templates, the convention is that they should not be used. Except where absolutely required to aid in a readers understanding, flag icons are considered distracting and should not typically be used in infoboxes. It is, generally, considered inappropriate to give one infobox attribute more prominence than others. Please stop adding this type of thing.

Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 19:52, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The European Union is a federation and is ruling 27 states with over 500 million citizens. In these countries people pay with euro, are EU citizens and therefore what I am doing is correct. Southwest Place (talk) 19:56, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"The European Union is a federation and is ruling 27 states with over 500 million citizens". That is correct. It, however, has absolutely nothing to do with the Wikipedia convention for considering the country (in which a town or city sits) to be the top-most subdivision of relevance to the average reader. You appear to be a new user, and (before now) not expected to be aware of all the project's norms and guidelines. As you have now been advised of them now however, it would be best if you could please review them. And amend your editing approach accordingly. Editing in a way which is (knowingly) contrary to the project's agreed conventions is generally considered disruptive editing and may result in a loss or restriction of editing privileges. Thank you. "Tunnel rail" is absurd.

[edit]

Please stop moving metro stations in Stockholm to the absurd home-spun "translation" "Tunnel rail station". Have you ANY source for this name ever being used? --Andhanq (talk) 21:19, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
