This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I don't understand why I have been blocked. I have simply tried to upload an article on an international organisation that works to promote ocean observations and their relevance to society. I am not very familiar with Wikipedia and how it works, or what the reason for this block is. It doesn't appear to be explained anywhere. Please help. Thank you.

Decline reason:

I wouldn't have blocked you, since I don't feel we should block people for username policy violations when, like you, all they do is submit stuff to our Articles for Creation page, but since it is a username violation I will decline it and recommend instead that you a) put in a new request using {{unblock-un}} in which you can propose a new username and b) read our conflict of interest policy and say whether you can abide by it. — Daniel Case (talk) 17:56, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I understand that I am not supposed to use an organisation's name as my username and agree to abide by the Conflict of Interest terms of Wikipedia

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking, and read Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest and the WP:FAQ/Organizations. JohnCD (talk) 21:48, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

I have created an aticle on the Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO), an not-for-profit organisation for which I work. It is not for commercial or promotional purposes, just for information. It includes references to many other websites, where the facts can easily be checked. I have endeavoured to keep it free from bias and purely factual.Sophisee (talk) 15:32, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO), a page you created has not been edited in at least 180 days. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace. If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it. You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements. If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13. Thank you for your attention. Hello Sophisee. It has been over six months since you last edited your article submission, entitled Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO).

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note, however, that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO)}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 22:01, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
