Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Sondra at Lakeview Academy, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Lakeview Academy, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! my talk page JaconaI don't know how to reply to you as I am not a Wikipedia editor and have little knowledge of Wikipedia. Please stop posting things to our school's listing. I have asked for the page to be deleted because the information you continue to harass us with is inaccurate. I have talked to the parents who started the school. Did you? No, you didn't. There was NO college prep in the local schools at the time. They were told by the principal to "deal with it." That the students were all meant to be farmers. The parents who founded our school found that response unacceptable. THAT is the reason they started the school. So please stop making assumptions and citing articles that fit your biased agenda.

  • Please read up on the sources. If you want to learn the truth, I'd suggest you do a google search on lakeview academy and segregation. What you find may shock you. Jacona (talk) 21:19, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • and ask the old people who were around when it was founded. And other schools as well...almost every private academy including Christian schools, that were founded around 1969-1971 were segregation academies. As far as your edit about "someone with an agenda", it would appear the person with an agenda is you...an agenda to rewrite history and whitewash it of things you can't admit to yourself actually happened. Show some courage, ask around, do some searching on the internet.Jacona (talk) 21:28, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • Have you spoken to a single African-American who was there at the time? Do you wonder that if as you state, "there was no college prep", why wasn't that an issue worthy of creating a private school until the day the public schools admitted African-Americans? Or why no African-Americans were invited to join the white students to obtain this college prep? You mentioned Patrick Phillips..read [1], seek out the lady mentioned (Barbara Brooks) and ask her about it. Unless you really have no desire to know the truth. • Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Lakeview Academy, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. I have moved on. I will try to find a way to delete the entire article. In the meantime, I am not able to update Lakeview's info box and it contains outdated information. So unless you wish to actually be helpful and get off your soapbox to tell me how to update the outdated information, I really have nothing else to say. I don't know if you have a job, but I do. I don't have time to "chat" with you all day. I actually have work to do. Best wishes to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smileykaye (talkcontribs) 21:54, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • So you're not interested in the truth then. Gordon Sawyer stated that "teachers must be stated on the basis of their color not their ability" and the Tethers went along. That's how this school got started. I understand, a lot of people have trouble dealing with the fact that their institutions, their relatives and older friends were extreme racists. At least you've been presented with some of the facts, if you choose to ignore them and don't investigate further, what does that say about you as a person?
