Speedy deletion nomination of Daniel Brin
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Daniel Brin, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Daniel Brin, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. [edit]Hi, thanks for message. If you post an article it will be assessed as it stands. If you don't want that to happen, you should write it as a draft. I deleted your article because
- it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, as defined in the link, or they will be deleted. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the him or his organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the he claims or interviewing him. Most of your text was completely unreferenced. There was a link at the bottom, but it was not in-line so we can't tell what fact it was supposed to be supporting. In any case, it was him talking about himself, not an independent third-party source.
- As an unelected candidate, he doesn't meet Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Politicians and judges
- it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: intends to apply all of his skills and knowledge toward serving the needs of residents... Daniel focuses his energies into building the foundations of a successful community. Under his leadership, the WHNC’s reputation has soared as it became recognized throughout Los Angeles as a powerhouse of neighborhood empowerment... many high-functioning committees are widely admired and emulated.— and so on with yet more spam. It's a campaign leaflet, not an article
- there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections. That's particularly the case when they are spamlinks to affiliated sites. Social media shouldn't be linked anyway
- the article was created without wikilinks or references, and looks as if was copied from an unknown and possibly copyrighted source. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial but there is no indication that the copied site allows free use. Text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
- Daniel Brin intends to apply all of his skills and knowledge... In his free time, he enjoys riding his bicycle, hiking in the local hills, lifting weights, reading about American and world history, and meeting people in the community. You appear to know him very well, including what he's thinking. If you have a conflict of interest when editing this article, you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for him or an affiliated organisation, or otherwise are acting on his behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly. Regardless, if you are paid directly or indirectly by the him or his organisation, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Solbash. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form:
{{paid|user=Solbash|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message. - I note that you removed a speedy deletion tag yourself. You will be blocked if you do that again.
I don't think he meets the notability criteria, so there is no point rrestoring. You could try again, but if you do, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read this important guidance. You must also reply to the COI request above if you write a similar article again Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:00, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
