Epic Browser

[edit]

Epic browser is the new web browser launched in July 2010 in India. It has the distinction of being the first ever "Indian browser" launched. It is said to have an integrated antivirus software and is provided free of cost. It is based on the free Mozilla firefox software. It allows users to type in several Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujrathi, Marathi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Nepali, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, etc. It is expected to be a big hit among the Indian users.

The logo of Epic browser denotes the Indian tricolor flag (Saffron, White and Green) enveloping a sphere (the earth) in a tree like fashion. The browser also emcompasses numerous Indian wallpapers and themes. It claims faster browsing and download speeds but it has to compete with acclaimed web browsers like Internet explorer , Google chrome etc. Only time will tell how much of this browser will be accepted by the Indian population and outside India (if at all !!!).
