Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Intermatic, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.linkedin.com/companies/intermatic.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Intermatic requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ttonyb (talk) 22:03, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The page Intermatic has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which is unlikely to be suitable for an article (or at best would need a fundamental rewrite). Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. • The page was entirely promotional/advertising, talking at length about what "we" do and why "we" are the best. See WP:SPAM. In general, Wikipedia is not a mirror site for companies' official pages; it is a neutral reference work. See WP:NOT. Finally, given that you are this company's webmaster, you should not be the one writing the article about it. See WP:COI. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:13, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wikipedia does not accept advertising. This is a core principal. You may not submit promotional material, with or without permission from the copyright holder. You are strongly advised to refrain from submitting material in which you have a conflict of interest, as you may have difficulty achieving the necessary objective distance needed to write a neutral encyclopedia article. Your current submissions are a prime example of this problem. The Intermatic website is advertising. This is not a problem on the Intermatic site - in fact, it's a good thing. The same material literally translated over to Wikipedia amounts to advertising, as the company website's objective - to sell Intermatic products - and Wikipedia's objectives - to write a neutrally-worded encyclopedia article - are at odds. The article as written was unacceptably promotional, and NawlinWiki was correct to have deleted it. Please do not attack editors for enforcing encyclopedia policy. Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Intermatic, to Wikipedia, as doing so is not in accordance with our policies. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Wikipedia:Your first article; you might also consider using the Article Wizard. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.. It's still advertising, with copy like "Intermatic has a line of hard wearing weatherproof products that provide an exact match to the application, are easy to install and provide reliability and longevity. Our complete offering of weatherproof products is the perfect combination of utility and innovation. From our patented Flexi-Guard covers to our heavy duty die-cast covers, Intermatic has the right product for every application." No more advertising, please. Wikipedia is not a notice-board

[edit]

We are not as good as we should be at explaining what Wikipedia is and is not. I find myself having the same conversation with people in your position so often that I have just written an essay you may find helpful: see User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard.
