Estimated birth date.

[edit]

Please stop breaking the {{birth based on age as of date}} template on Lana Zakocela. The template is to be used with a cited source that gives the subject's age as of a particular date. The parameters need to come from the age given in that source as well as the publication date of that source. Per our verifiability policy, the parameters may not be adjusted based on information not given in that source, as you appear to do here and here. The source you cited here will not do as the source is not a reliable source; even if it were, you didn't place your reference correctly, so it didn't show up in the article. Please stop trying to "fix" this. Rebbing 13:50, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I won't keep changing your edits but they are wrong. If the date of birth is July 1987 how can she be 28?
Why do you believe a magazine article over a model listing site like listal. http://www.listal.com/lana-zakocela
I will leave future changes up to you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soapastic (talkcontribs) 14:13, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for listening and explaining your reasoning.
Listal is not a reliable source. Who are its authors? What are its editorial controls? Its authors are anonymous, and it has no editorial controls. Anyone can create an account and write anything he wants, so why would it be reliable? Please take a look at Wikipedia's guideline on identifying reliable sources § User-generated content (and look at the rest of the guideline for an overview of why we require sources to be reliable). Mind, there are sites that specialize in listing models that are reliable: the Fashion Model Directory, for instance.
Since Listal isn't usable, the best source we currently have for estimating Ms. Zakocela's birth date is Hollywood Life. It may not have the credibility of a major newspaper, but it is a legitimate celebrity news outlet, and the article cited has a proper by-line. This is usually considered enough for uncontroversial claims, like birth dates and marriages. Since all we have is an age at a given date, we use the {{birth based on age as of date}} template. If something better comes to light, we will use that instead. Does that answer your question? Rebbing 14:39, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
