However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Template

Still the wrong template. You need to add a new AfD process tag. And start the nomination. If you don’t know how then ask someone to help you. The article in question is within notability enlugh to survive the template you added. And the reason being notability is not the right rationale either. Read the guideline again.
