Speedy deletion nomination of Austin smith
[edit]A tag has been placed on Austin smith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Wellcome trust center for stem cell research
[edit]You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
A tag has been placed on Wellcome trust center for stem cell research requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pdcook (talk) 14:48, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Remember that not only must the subject be significant or important, but the article must make it clear how the subject is significant or important. You're welcome to start another article on the center; however, please make sure you've done a rough draft beforehand that includes any awards or other distinctions won by the center as well as links to independent reliable sources where the awards can be verified. Then the newly-created article will clearly show how the subject is notable. —C.Fred (talk) 15:04, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Removing Speedy at Wellcome trust center for stem cell research
[edit]Hi there Smithy82232! I saw that you added a {{hangon}} tag to a page which you created, Wellcome trust center for stem cell research. This is good, but in the process you removed the tag requesting deletion under CSD A7. Even though there is a hangon on the page, the deletion template should remain there. But don't worry, this doesn't mean that the page is going to get deleted. Make sure you edit the talk page of the page nominated for deletion, located at Talk:Wellcome trust center for stem cell research, administrators will look at your reason why the page should remain before they decide what to do. Thanks - SDPatrolBot (talk) 14:57, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Your article did not meet the criteria for inclusion per WP:notability as written. Please feel free to write it again, but first read Wikipedia:5 Pillars. Also, I am not an admin so I didn't delete it. I simply nominated it for deletion. An admin agreed with me and deleted it. Pdcook (talk) 15:12, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- I deleted it. On discussion with another user, I decided that the underlying subject is notable, even though your version of the article did not clearly demonstrate that. I have restored your draft as, under the GFDL, I have to acknowledge it as a starting point, even though I did a complete rewrite. The current draft is at Wellcome Trust Centre for Stem Cell Research. Please note that I have it tagged as {{inuse}} while I get the starting point in place; I'll be removing that tag within the hour. —C.Fred (talk) 15:25, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
C.fred has restored your article using the correct capitalization. Be advised, however, that your username indicates that you may have a conflict of interest in articles about Austin Smith. Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographies. I'll take a look at the research center's article and try to help improve it with you. --SquidSK (1MC•log) 15:22, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
