Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Smithvane, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some links to pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Wdchk (talk) 02:07, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon I have left important messages for you at Wikimedia Commons concerning the copyright status of images you uploaded there and subsequently added to Wikipedia articles. Thanks. Wdchk (talk) 02:07, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message on my user talk page - I only removed the links to images that had already been removed, but your questions are addressed in the note(s) above, and at Commons (follow the link in the note just above this one). The basic problem is that you can't add copyrighted images without following the procedure for donating copyrighted material - simply stating that the image belongs to you is not enough. How to go about donating copyrighted images is explained in the info linked above. Thanks! --bonadea contributions talk 15:46, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 00:35, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

/* June 2015 */ 3rr for Weather vane and Lightning rod

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Weather vane. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.
