Information icon Hello, I'm Anir1uph. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Indian Institutes of Technology without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry: I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, you can use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! This is regarding the planned IIT is at Palakkad, which you seem to be removing. Kindly re-add the cited text. Also, going into such minute details is not needed in this article. Please take that to the Indian School of Mines page. Thanks! Anir1uph | talk | contrib 08:06, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am glad you could reply. 1. You cannot remove text that is referenced with reliable source. If you want to do that, please start a discussion at the article's talk page and make your case there. This will help build consensus. Wait for some time so views of other editors can be taken into account. 2. Such details about off the topic are really not needed. You are simply copying the data from the ISM page. I will add a "See also" at the beginning of the section. Please check and tell me if that is good enough.

Adding reference to Wikipedia articles

[edit]
Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello Smishr! Please do not forget to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Adding a well formatted references is very easy to do.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "templates",
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill as many details as you can,

This will add a well formatted reference that would be helpful in case the website link (web URL) becomes inactive (dead/link rot) after some time. You can read more about it on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv. thanks and regards --Anir1uph | talk | contrib 10:49, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
