File source problem with File:Curtin-Hammett scenario for macrocycles.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Curtin-Hammett scenario for macrocycles.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. A tag has been placed on File:C-H for Wiki.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image uploads

[edit]

Will you please, please:

  • upload to the Commons - why are you restricting use of these images to the English Wikipedia?
  • originate your images as PNGs or, better still, SVGs. These being the preferred formats for line drawings and diagrams
  • create meaningful file names. Do not include "figure" or "for wiki" - totally redundant info
  • apply proper licences at the time of uploading
  • upload images once only.

RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:47, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well done for re-uploading some images with sensible names but you should have:

  • marked the previous versions for deletion
  • uploaded as SVGs or PNGs - have a look at commons:category:macrocyclic compounds - how many of the images in that category are JPGs - and who created those images?!
  • uploaded to the Commons.

Also please do not put "within the text" in an image description - it is meaningless. You must provide a link to the article that you are talking about. Note that the only non-JPEG that you have uploaded, File:Curtin-Hammett scenario for macrocycles.png, is in danger of deletion for lack of licensing info - please fix. Also in that image there is a curious box above and to the right of PB which is white instead of transparent - please fix. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:23, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
