I have unreviewed a page you curated

Thanks for reviewing Viddal Riley, Slashme.

Unfortunately Insertcleverphrasehere has just gone over this page again and unreviewed it. Their note is:

PRODed and CSD tagged articles should not be marked as reviewed, per consensus here.

To reply, leave a comment on Insertcleverphrasehere's talk page.

That's not necessarily to say that the article shouldn't get deleted, it just is to help things from falling through the cracks. Cheers, — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 16:33, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

@Insertcleverphrasehere: Thanks, I wasn't aware of the rule change! --Slashme (talk) 17:37, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Slashme, No worries, that's why I have been going through the nominated for deletion category every once in a while. It is pretty easy to miss discussions like that one. It also doesn't help that the page curation tools automatically mark them as reviewed (a fix has been requested). Cheers and happy editing. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 10:17, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.16 15 December 2018

Hello Slashme,

Reviewer of the Year

This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.

Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.

See also the list of top 100 reviewers.

Less good news, and an appeal for some help

The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.

Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019

At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.

Training video

Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.

Dalida

Hello, I saw your redirect edit on Le temps des fleurs. You noticed and googled it, thanks for that. As there almost no info about it on internet, you maybe got wrong impression, but there is plenty of achievements that album and did. The article, just as many others of Dalida are stil sub and have to be expanded. I am currently doing my best so I would be happy if you don't do that action again. Cordially Dalida Editor please ping or message me' 13:51, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi DalidaEditor, I'm going to look at the articles and tag them appropriately. I'm not convinced that all of them meet the notability criteria for music on Wikipedia, so we can review after a month or so which should be kept. The basic criterion is that the topic needs to have been discussed in detail in multiple independent reliable sources that are not affiliated with the subject. --Slashme (talk) 09:39, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
All Dalida album articles are subs and none of them has sources... I just need a little more time...Dalida Editor please ping or message me' 09:42, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
@DalidaEditor: That's absolutely fine. I'm tagging them for improvement now, not for deletion. There's no hurry, so go out, find your sources, and let's see after a while which should be kept and which should rather redirect to the discography. --Slashme (talk) 09:45, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much, the whole Dalida project of en wiki was neglected for too much time...Dalida Editor please ping or message me' 10:35, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Bug Report

Hello, thanks again for your neat Parliament tool. I have one bug report to make, halas. I was trying to make a diagram for the french article I created of the 1957 Gabonese Territorial Assembly election, and as one of the list was "Union, Travail, Progrès", I discovered that any party name with a comma make the parliament tool bug. It can't make a diagram, and show the message "Oops, your diagram wasn't successfully generated! Maybe you have more than 31061 seats. If not, please raise a bug report." It's not too much a problem once you know it, as I simply removed the comma, but it may be quite infuriating not being able to make a diagram, not knowing what went wrong. On a side note, I noticed a tendency of your diagram tool to often make disjointed groups of dots of the same colors, like in this very same one , even though they could easily be side by side. It seem to me it would look better. I don't know if it was always like this, though. Thanks for hearing me out, and have a great day!--Aréat (talk) 04:37, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the bug report on the comma! I'll fix it soon. Would you like to add it at github? I like clearing user bug reports. The non-contiguous party thing is a bit harder to fix; I still need to think about it a bit. You can edit these cases in Inkscape to fix them, though --Slashme (talk) 13:57, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Err, sorry, I'm neither on github nor skilled at Inkscape. I'm glad I helped nonetheless. ;) --Aréat (talk) 17:53, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.17

Hello Slashme,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.
