Sinebot bug?
Observed the following behavior from Sinebot, which appears to be a bug:
- User:67.127.56.46 made two edits to Talk:Furry fandom within about a minute of each other, [1] and [2].
- Sinebot signed the first but then erased the first sig when it signed the second. It looks as if Sinebot hadn't saved the first sig yet when it loaded the page to add the second sig, and didn't notice that it had gotten into an edit conflict with itself when it saved the second.
Hope this helps. --mwalimu59 (talk) 17:27, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Signing for vandals
Could you put a clause in SineBot so it doesn't sign for people who put things like this [3]. It makes it harder to revert talk page vandalism when it signs for vandals. Whispering 05:21, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Computers Write What Is Read
Slakr, I work on inputting soft data into our hardware to work on our computer here at home. Getting our computer to write what is read as an AI is done so that it can come up with the correct conclusion. These correct conclusions should be easier to accept. There is such an intense focus in creating these machines that it is easy to drop the concept of AI and rely instead on sinebot. No sine waves here, Slakr! Goodness me SineBot but you are fast! I forgot to sign an edit, realized my mistake the instant after I pressed "save page," went right back to sign the page and got some error message about an edit conflict and needing to merge and I don't even OWN a car! -- how discombobulating! LOL. Keep up the good work. But a couple minutes grace time to append a forgotten signature would be nice. Not forgotten this time... Mtiffany71 (talk) 02:25, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

- The same is true with me, Slakr. I always use the fourt tides and this sinebot and keeps on putting "Preceding unsigned comment added by" and posting reminders on my talk page. In fact, I predict that it is going to happen here again. — Shannon Rose 16:39, 1 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shannon Rose (talk • contribs)
- I think I've discovered why Sinebot doesn't recognize your signature. It's because it isn't a real signature in the Wikipedia sense:
- <font face="Edwardian Script ITC" color="blue" size="5">Shannon Rose</font>
- It doesn't contain a link to your userpage. Here's how it should look (usually a talk page link is included):
- You need to change your sig under your preferences at the top of the page. If you check the box and include that code, you will get a nice, customized sig. If you uncheck the box, you'll get a nice default sig. Note that the links will not work on their "own" pages. They will work elsewhere. I hope that will solve your problem, because Sinebot is working just fine, but is working overtime because of your faulty sig. -- Brangifer (talk) 23:26, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

If you are using an open proxy or VPN service, you will need to disable it or turn it off in order to edit Wikipedia.
If you believe you are not using an anonymizing proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer using your IP address who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy. You may appeal this block by adding the following text on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is _______. Place any further information here. ~~~~}}
. You must fill in the blank with your IP address for this block to be investigated. Your IP address can be determined here. Alternatively, if you wish to keep your IP address private you can use the Unblock Ticket Request System.
More rarely, your network equipment or that of your service provider may be misconfigured or compromised by malicious software (such as a virus). For more information, see the WikiProject Open Proxies.
Administrators: The IP block exemption user right should only be applied to allow users to edit using an open or anonymizing proxies in exceptional circumstances, and they should usually be directed to the functionaries team via email. If you intend to give the IPBE user right, a CheckUser needs to take a look at the account. This can be requested most easily at SPI Quick Checkuser Requests. Unblocking an IP or IP range with this template is highly discouraged without at least contacting the blocking administrator.

Your 3RR helper tool
Hello Slakr. Your tool at http://toolserver.org/~slakr/3rr.php has been immortalized by appearing in the header at WP:AN3, and I notice that some people do use it. It occurs to me that it might be expanded slightly (or another tool might be based on its behavior) so as to check some of the input data. This might reduce the incidence of reports that don't meet the criteria. Can you let me know if the source is available? If it's in PHP I'd probably choose something else, but would be interested to see how it works. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 17:50, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Marriage privatization
Hi. Just wondering, why did you add the "synthesis" tag to Marriage privatization? Was it something specific, or just a hunch? How do these tags get removed, and who gets to do so?Ragazz (talk) 01:15, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Because at the time I added the tag, the article appeared to be an original synthesis used to summate to a neologism. That is, someone pulled together a bunch of sources from a bunch of people that vaguely hint at what the article defines as "marriage privatization." If you were to strip it to its core, it reads like a research paper or essay. The intro, alone, is a dead giveaway. Check out some of the comments on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Marriage_Privatization_Model, a similar article that was deleted for the same reason. You're allowed to remove the tag if you believe it's wrong and/or you feel you are able to fix the problems it alludes to. --slakr\ talk / 01:40, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- I think the article is supported by the sources, from what I can tell, although there may be some (unintentional?) POV and subtle synthesis. The lead seems to be the worst of it, I will try to help. All in all, it's an informative article and does not seem to be mis-representing sources from my brief look into it. Thanks.Ragazz (talk) 02:55, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

3RR
Is a preemptive block for 3RR valid to do? It appears that way on WP:3RR. What are the requirements? Admin's discretion? CTJF83 chat 22:33, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Pre-emptive block for the three revert rule? The closest thing I can think of is a block for general edit warring. Keep in mind that the 3RR is simply a stricter version of the edit warring policy, and it doesn't bestow any sort of inherent right upon someone to make three reverts to a page in 24 hours (with exception for vandalism, reverting banned users, etc).
- If someone's had a history of edit warring, they don't need to violate the three-revert rule in order to be blocked for edit warring. That is, if they've already edit warred badly enough in the past, then continued edit warring is weighted more heavily—even if they don't violate the 3RR. It's presumed that an editor should know better than to edit war once they've been repeatedly been warned about and/or blocked for it. :P
- --slakr\ talk / 01:19, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, so any user can be blocked, even though they haven't violated 3RR, for edit waring? Opps....CTJF83 chat 07:24, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- It very much depends on the situation, but yes. --slakr\ talk / 21:19, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm... an off-the-top-of-my-head example. A few people frequently edit a certain article. One editor, John, every day or every few days will make an edit on that article that is repeatedly reverted by multiple people. John refuses to let himself be reverted, but is careful not to violate the three revert rule. John might still be blocked for edit warring if sufficiently warned. --slakr\ talk / 21:35, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Mark Levin radio talk show host
Greetings,
Where is the "Controversies & Criticism" sections for Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, and so many other non conservatives listed at on each individual page as I can not locate them. If it isn't possible to view these missing "Controversies & Criticism" section blocks for others in a political limelight, I sense that somehow persons such as Mark Levin and other "conservatives" for instance have been unfairly singled out due to their political beliefs which is a violation under The United States Constitution.
I would hope that after your perusal of the above note, that this "Controversies & Criticism" section either be added to ALL other persons listed here in Wikipedia or removed from those who's beliefs are NOT consistent but rather contrary with liberal beliefs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by P14u2nv 2 (talk • contribs) 01:15, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

However, since there was an edit war in progress between several editors, I protected it temporarily in whatever form it was in. Please consider voicing your concerns on the article's talk page. --slakr\ talk / 21:21, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Admin help please
Hi there, I see you involved in resolving edit warring - and all I really am wanting to know is how did I simply get an admin to do an assessment - before it turns into an edit war? - Check out the methods for dispute resolution. That basically outlines the right ways to handle disputes. If a disagreement is simply between two editors, third opinion. If it's broader in scope, consider informal mediation, requests for comment, or the official mediation committee. --slakr\ talk / 21:15, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Good and Bad ways of getting around SineBot
First the Good way is to manually sign and date your posts. Here is an example. (Enclosed in nowiki markup.)
- [[User:Allen4names|Allen]]4[[User talk:Allen4names|names]] {{subst:CURRENTTIME}}, {{subst:CURRENTDAY}} {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC)
Did you note the substitution? Get rid of it for the Bad way.
- Allen4names {{CURRENTTIME}}, {{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC)
With the Bad way the faked time stamp should change with each edit. -- Allen4names 05:02, 30 October 2009 (UTC) and my usual signature allen四names 05:02, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. Purging the page can also make the faked time stamp change. -- Allen4names 05:47, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- SineBot isn't a security mechanism, and I couldn't care less if people "get around it." The easiest way to "get around it" is to simply add
{{NoAutosign}}
to your user page. As for using transcluding templates in your signature, it's a huge violation of the signatures guideline and will probably end up with someone blocked if they were to do so. --slakr\ talk / 16:42, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

So I'm making them here. Sine bot should also include an opt-in method of auto signing with a typical signature. The 1RR on other articles that I mentioned is voluntary and a strong suggestion, because given his block log, there's a good chance he'll get blocked for a quite a while if he keeps edit warring and another admin sees it. --slakr\ talk / 22:10, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

- Those edits above me were from my alt account, for WP:NEWT. Just wanted to re-inform you, that you can't CSD software articles. --Coffee // have a cup // ark // 04:34, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's a web game and thus web content; thus, it's CSDA7. Actually, it's still CSD-able, because it still does not assert any notability, but since the google result looks like it's gotten popular (or is at least highly linked to), it probably does meet notability. --slakr\ talk / 05:08, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- And by the way, intentionally creating crap articles to try to goad admins into deleting them so that you can drop chiding notes on their talk pages... well... I'm not quite sure what to say about that. I mean, I appreciate you trying to improve the newbie experience, but I'm not entirely sure trickery and deception is the best way to solve the problem, because historically speaking, it seems to only increase job dissatisfaction and organizational disunity. Of course, that's just my opinion. --slakr\ talk / 05:22, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Furthermore, it would help—since you know so much about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines—if you stub-tagged the Super Granny article that you created with your sock, added some categories to it, and actually Wikified it. Heck, maybe even abide by one of our core policies and actually add some cites. Or, were you planning to simply let it linger around until I or someone else fixed it? I should hope that you're as much worried about the encyclopedia experience as you're worried about the "newbie experience." --slakr\ talk / 05:31, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- No that's incorrect, games are considered software unless they are played in the web browser. Super Granny is a desktop based game albeit you can play it online at certain places it's still desktop based, so does not fall under CSD A7. Secondly, if you would like to go back to the CSD page and maybe read it over, it would help, because you're not using that criteria correctly at the moment. Thirdly, I haven't had a lot of time to edit that article yet or put this all up at WP:NEWT, so don't try and act like the policy wonk when you aren't following it yourself. --Coffee // have a cup // ark // 05:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

- I thought the purpose of WP:NEWT was to try to measure the real newbie experience, not to come up with the most borderline speedy deletion you can (a game that's downloaded from the web, occasionally played from the web, but not "web content") to see if an admin will still delete it. - I would argue that adding crappy articles to mainspace, specifically engineering to be as bad as possible while remaining outside of CSD so that you can go around and act all condescending to admins when they delete them (without even considering IAR) is disruptive. The only real difference between what you're doing and purposely exploiting the wording of CSD to disrupt the project is your motive. why do you have a bot--Anthony 5432 (talk) 13:17, 19 November 2009 (UTC)Anthony 5432
- Check out the bot policy. Basically, it's kind of like having an inferior clone that does all of the trivial work that you don't wanna keep doing yourself (e.g., signing comments or blocking the myriad of open proxies on the internet). In a way, they could all be called Bitch Slakr (I, II, III, and so on), but I wouldn't want them to be confused with being me during times when I'm bitchy; so, they have unique, user-friendly names instead. :P --slakr\ talk / 10:29, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Sinebot tilde template suggestion
At the moment, Sinebot does this: "If a particular person makes three or more unsigned comments in a 24 hour period, the bot will place a single Tilde warning on his/her talk page." It might be useful if it did this for editors posting to a talk page for the first time if they fail to sign, without waiting for them to make three in a 24 hour period (or to post the welcome template, which includes this guidance). It might be useful for it to do this for longer-time editors who have never posted a signature also, if there's any way to easily determine that. Шизомби (talk) 18:03, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Confusion about tildes
Thank you for your message. I am new to the internet, and am finding the protocols very diffult to follow. (Unlike you, I did not grow up with computors of anykind, let alone personal computors). I have been clicking on the tilde notice at the bootom of the edit screen, assuming that would do the trick. Apparrently you are (automated or not) aware of the workings of Wikipedia, so maybe you could suggest to them that the instruction be modified to include what you have told me - click the signature button on the tool bar. Even I can understand that.--Coralhue (talk) 13:15, 23 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coralhue (talk • contribs) Still don't seem to have got it right? Speedy Delete for User:Minitomaster
In response to the speedy delete request to delete the page for User:Minitomaster, you said that the request was declined because this user exists. Well, s/he exists only in the sense that s/he has an account. But, when one looks at his/her contribs, one discovers that s/he has only ever edited his/her user and talk pages. This user has never made an edit to a single article on Wikipedia.
Since it does not satisfy WP:CSD#U2, is there a criterion in the CSD General section that would permit its deletion? Recently, there was a similar user page that another admin deleted, but I cannot recall the criterion applied. Might it have been WP:CSD#G1? Thanks Slakr! — SpikeToronto 07:42, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Before you continue to advocate my pages deletion please consider the following:
The fact is it is a very noteworthy page for 3 simple reasons:
1. There is no other web site or business like it in the world.
2. The web site is #1 in the world on Google and Yahoo search engines. (Please search Google and Yahoo yourself for Police Bodyguards or Celebrity Police Bodyguards or on Yahoo just search Celebrity Bodyguard)
3. No business of it's type is currently covered on Wikipedia, I have searched Wikipedia for hours and this is the only company of it's type on Wikipedia.
Either you support the Troops or you do not, either you support the groups like this one, who support the Troops or you do not, there is no grey area here, so please stop advocating my pages delation and help me get it approved in some form, again either help me, help them support the Troops with this page or at least stop trying to get it deleted.
I hold a Masters, a MD and PHD, I think I can safely say I understand the rules and regulations of this web site and have not violated them in any way, neither me or my son are mentioned on or appear on its pages, I have never had any contact with this business or web site, nor do I know anyone who has.
I have read and tried to follow the rules, please help me, if you feel my page needs to be deleted, at least show me and my late son the respect of explaining why. Thank You,

- Regardless of whether or not your son/father/whoever was killed in a war, that fact, alone, does not inherently bestow any sort of notability upon your biography. Furthermore, it is apparent that you might not be as fully aware of our policies and guidelines as you might believe. For instance, judging by your contributions list, it would appear that not only have you ignored the canvassing guideline by cross-posting the same message to several talk and user pages, you also seem to be confusing user pages with talk pages. Finally, your deleted article, The Police Bodyguard Group, appeared to not only lack in notability for groups, but also had a strong advertising tone to it.
- Combined, I agree with the deleting admin's actions, and furthermore encourage you to review our guidelines for creating new pages as well as our conflict of interest and notability guidelines. I'll also post a copy of this on your talk page. Cheers. --slakr\ talk / 19:50, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

It is not an article promoting a company or a person in business as Paul Wilson has just actually retired. Delay time
I see there is a 90-second delay before SineBot applies a signature. This is too short for those of us who may not refresh our watchlists that frequently. In particular, by the time you've hovered over an edit or a diff to see whether it's useful, SineBot has already signed it and when you revert, the reversion is to the unsigned version rather than to the previous unvandalised version. Ideally, a revert should do both, to avoid unnecessary work. Comment? Rodhullandemu 01:47, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Several users have recently began asking if it would not be possible to acquire a copy of SineBot to run on our wiki. Delta Chi Association & Delta Ch Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon
To: Wikipedia Editors slakr, DGG, C.Fred & Ronhjones
Gentlemen:
By way of introduction I am H. William Fogle, Jr. (Hwf1870, Bill Fogle, bill.fogle@cox.net), the Alumni Historian of the Delta Chi Association (the alumni arm of the
Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon at Cornell University). I am also the sole author of the thirty historical papers about this Chapter that you will find on the
Cornell University eCommons@Cornell site. See http://ecommons.cornell.edu/handle/1813/7626.
All of these papers bear the notation Copyright: ©2006 -Delta Chi Association, Ithaca NY. As Alumni Historian and member of the Board of the Delta Chi
Association I am authorized to provide permissions for the use of this material and am also required to obtain permissions as required for copyrighted material that I
have used in these documents. There are only one or two cases of the latter.
I am also the author of Cornell Deke House A History of the 1893 Lodge. Ithaca NY: The Delta Chi Association, 1993. Copies are located in the Cornell University Library (+LJ75/.315/ 1993Z), the DeWitt Historical Society of Tompkins County (728.4 7655, accession #1994.9.1)
401 East State Street, Ithaca 14850) and the Library of Congress (Washington DC).
I noted that there were at lease three existing Wikipedia articles that connected to Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon at Cornell University:
“Deke House (Ithaca, New York)” http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Deke_House_(Ithaca,_New_York)
“John De Witt Warner” http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/John_De_Witt_Warner
“Mario García Menocal” http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Mario_Garc%C3%ADa_Menocal
I edited “Deke House (Ithaca, New York)” on 29 December 2009 to correct the spelling of my name in the references. I edited “John De Witt Warner” on 29 December 2009 to correct the link to the reference Fogle, Jr., Homer William (3 Jul 2006). "DX of DKE Special Study #09: I edited “Mario García Menocal” on 30 December 2009 to add the two references that described the 1920 DKE Convention: Minot, John Clair (February 1921).
"The Convention in Havana," Delta Kappa Epsilon Quarterly, XXXIX, 1, p. 1-25; and Fogle, Homer William Jr. (25 Nov 2005). The Deke House at Cornell: a
concise history of the Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon, 1870-1930.Cf. pp. 27, 57, 60, 64, 66-69.
My next steps were to create two brief articles, "Delta Chi Association" and "Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon." The information for these articles consisted
of abridgements from http://hdl.handle.net/1813/3931 (Title: "Chapter and Alumni Operations Handbook, 2006" Author: Fogle, Homer William Jr.)
I completed the first article, "Delta Chi Association" on 30 December and that seemed to be accepted by the system. However, on the following day the text for the
second article, "Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon." triggered your plagiarism monitor and, I think, perhaps another on significance.
I would like to complete these two articles and see them registered in Wikipedia.
This chapter of DKE is one of the most historically significant college societies in the United States. It has direct connections to a host of important historical figures
including two Presidents of the United States. The lodge is on the National Registor of Historic Places and the Ithaca Landmark list. You will find much of the
historical data in http://ecommons.cornell.edu/handle/1813/3223.
Please advise if I may proceed with these two articles.
Respectfully,
H. William Fogle, Jr. (Hwf1870) Hwf1870 (talk) 20:33, 2 January 2010 (UTC) Alumni Historian, Delta Chi Association bill.fogle@cox.net

Not sure what this edit means [7], the link is not affiliated with node magazine. See MediaWiki_talk:Spam-whitelist#node.tumblr.com. Also the log does not link to any discussions[8]. --Hu12 (talk) 07:29, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have no idea. Another admin was having trouble saving a page because tumblr is blacklisted but one blog that was on it (the one at node.*) was a reliable enough blog for whatever the article was (I'd like to say "Spook Country" or something). I added the regex because he didn't know how and because I didn't want him to screw it up. I put the admin's nickname/username in the comment on the log. If you wanna revert, you're free to, but please discuss it with him.
- Also, as an FYI, I'm not going to start a discussion for something as trivial as a basic exception to an over-reaching blacklist entry. In cases of black and whitelists, the onus is squarely on the person removing the whitelisted regex if a blacklist entry is interfering with the building of the encyclopedia.

Opinion
Recently I’ve been involved in a dispute in the article about Carmen Miranda. The issue in discussion was the fact that the article refers to this artist as “Portuguese-born Brazilian” and uses a source that does not support such expression. I presented many reliable sources that support that this artist had only Portuguese citizenship and not a Brazilian one. This artist has also born in Portugal. No further sources were presented to support her supposed “brazilian” citizenship. Some users joined together and stated that she is more Brazilian than Portuguese because she identifies herself with Brazil, thus the expression Portuguese-born Brazilian was correct. I think that this is a clear original research where they use sources that say she identified with Brazil to support she was Brazilian (a clear interpretation and personal opinion and theory). This goes against one of the three core policies of Wikipedia Wikipedia:No original research. I asked RfC where it ended in 5/1 consensus against me. Since no reliable sources were presented and the issue was not cleary addressed I moved to mediation, see here [9]. Mediation was accepted by 3 of those users but they were not open to mediate. I did a suggestion of compromise from my part where I suggested the expression “Portuguese-Brazilian” instead of “Portuguese” what I was defending, hopping that this discussion would end in an agreement. It cleary didn’t since the other part did not made any suggestion for resolving the discussion nor presented any compromise or showed interest in that. So Mediation was closed and it ended in (3/2) against me. Afterward Mediator of the discussion said that I showed no respect for the consensus (5/1) obtained in RfC and stated I was forum-shopping to get my way by having asked Mediation a thing that he suggested I did not had the right, see here [10]. Post this I would like to get some opinion in this situation. What should i do? Should i present this case to ArbCom? Sorry to be bothering you with this but I fell a bit insulted with this entire situation and really need some neutral opinion. Thank you. Tacv (talk) 23:14, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- The above user is forum-shopping. He argued on the talk page of the article and consensus was against him. He started an RFC on the talk page, and consensus was against him. He took it to mediation, and consensus was upheld. His arguments regarding the facts don't hold water. He has it in mind that in order to be called "Brazilian" you have to be a Brazilian citizen. That has been demonstrated to be a false statement, yet he continues to argue that point. It's an endless loop. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 00:10, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

- Single-purpose account, forum-shopping, trying to get opponents blocked so he can have his way with an article since consensus was against him. All because of the expression "Portugese-born Brazilian". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 01:59, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

SineBot False Positive
I left a message on a user's talk page (and revised it), he responded on mine, and I moved his response back to his talk page – after which SineBot added my name onto the end of his signed comment which I moved over. One thing I did notice which might have thrown SineBot off: the other guy's sig was surrounded by parentheses ().

Duduk Instrument
Dear Kurt,
On the wikipedia page for the instrument Duduk. It is protected and it doesn't say that it originated from Armenia, and it does. My proof is this. The duduk is one of the oldest double reed instruments in the world and dates back over 3,000 years. Variants of the duduk can be found in Armenia and the Caucasus. The roots of Armenian duduk music go back to the times of the Armenian king Tigran the Great (95–55 BC). Well, during the rule of King Tigran the Great. Armenia was a nation, and the countries of Turkey, or the seljuk Turks, and Azerbaijan were not a country and a people yet. Therefor, that is the proof that indeed the Armenians have created the Duduk and I would like to see that added to wikipedia. by that I mean that Wikipedia says that the Duduk is originated from Armenia and the Duduk wikipedia page is still protected from vandalism after that. Can you please do the edit for me?
Thank You. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Armoboy323 (talk • contribs) 03:44, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly, the proper page for your request would be the talk page for that article.
Secondly, no matter what info you want to add, it needs to be verifiable in reliable sources. Unfortunately, we can't just take your word for it.

Your sinebot is signing my comments on 'virgin birth (mythology)' even though I clicked the signature button at the top. I can't discuss this on the talk page because now my comments are deleted before the page is saved.--Hammy64000 (talk) 01:38, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Sinebot false positive, general area
Caught a Sinebot false positive today. I think it's best to instruct Sinebot to avoid signing in the RFA area overall. I'm not aware of a clean way to opt out of every RFA page, unless perhaps the opt-out is part of the RFA template. I undid this edit today which was a signing that it shouldn't have done. You would know more of the internals than I would about how best to address this, so I defer that to you, but just thought I'd let you know, because this looks like it could happen again in the future. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 20:42, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon
To: Wikipedia Editors slakr, DGG, C.Fred & Ronhjones Gentlemen: Please recall that we were having some discussion about the appropriateness of adding an article on the Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon to Wikipedia. I concede that an article on the Delta Chi Association (the alumni arm of the Chapter) is not necessary, but I would like to go forward with an article on the chapter. I have prepared a text that follows in this message. All sources for the material are cited. I note that Wikipedia carries many articles on specific clubs and societies in American universities. The "Dartmouth College Greek organizations" article provides subarticles on the individual Greek-letter chapters. "Eating club (Princeton University)" links to separate articles on the five bicker clubs and the five non-selective clubs in Princeton The secret honor societies of Cornell University have articles, i.e. "Sphinx Head" and "Quill and Dagger." There are individual articles on six of the eight final clubs at Harvard University. Yale University's societies, e.g. Skull and Bones" well are represented. In other words, I see ample precedent for an article on a specific college club. You will note that there is sufficient historical significance cited to warrant an article. Please advise if I may proceed. I would appreciate responses by email: bill.fogle@cox.net H. SineBot: requesting a delay
Hey Slakr, would you implement a 5 or 10 minute delay in signing unsigned comments? I recently made a comment (an inane one, but still) hit enter to go to a new line, and the comment submitted because the cursor was stuck in the title box. Annoyed, I went back to edit the comment to add the rest and sign it, but a conflict came up saying SineBot had signed it and now there was an editing conflict. --99.96.103.225 (talk) 17:09, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

I have a question about references for the Brian Choper page. There is a comment that the article is still an orphan. However, there are a numerous "Category" pages that link back to his page. I would like to know if these "count" for getting away from orphan status and if there is anything else I need to do on the article to improve it.
