I wish to object to this action to remove ‘Darren Hayday.
I know him personally and he is more than a ‘cold calling marketing guy’, I have researched and contributed here for the last few months, only to have all my work removed.
He is an entrepreneur, Mayor of High Wycombe (one of the youngest in its hundreds of years’ history), local Councillor, Bow Group Councillor, he is a person that has come from nothing and helps to makes people change their lives around (me as one) – why would you decide to remove this entry? As for the reason of notability, you can see that he ‘is’ the mayor of High Wycombe & it is cited.
As for the reason on vanity, it is ‘I’ that has added this work & not Mr Hayday.

- No, you've only been researching and contributing here since May 7, which is under three weeks - and only editing pages relevant to Darren. I'm also amused by your commend on reporting someone for "unauthorised deleting"; this is a free-for-all encyclopedia. On every single edit page, it says:

(emphasis mine). I don't know whether you're a sockpuppet of Darren's or not; the evidence so far points towards it but I'll leave it to others to make quick decisions. The notability of a mayor is what I suspect is being questioned; the mayorship itself of a town is surprising unless somehow significantly different from the mayorship of every town in the world that has a mayor and access to a computer. There's hundreds of thousands of towns and cities in the world. There's only a little over a million articles in Wikipedia to date; this includes articles on so much else that the inclusion of a local dignitary post is understandably non-notable to many, and the person who's filling that position for a single year even more so. Notability will always be a grey area on WP; when mixed up with possible vanity in the wikipedia sense as the Darren Hayday article has been in the past, it will always rankle with some. Notability is key.
Personally, I'm holding off until User:Hayday makes some more edits; he started contributing in good faith in response to some comments by various users, adding bulk text to a few articles and improving them significantly. However after that token contribution he reverted to making edits to pages relevant to himself; removing a swathe of information from his userpage just as the same swathe of information appeared on the article page recreated about him. Again that will kick up a stink with other editors on WP, because it looks like not only has the user apologised for the creation of his own page and understood the rules, it looks like he has also created a second account specifically to circumvent the rules, and in a way that is so similar to many other users before him that it attracts attention and response in the same way.
I had good faith in Darren when he started making valid significant edits; that good faith is undermined by the way things have gone since. It's difficult not to be disappointed in the way things are going, but I'll leave it to others to decide from the evidence here. --User:Firien § 09:03, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
