It says here to contact you first. So here I am.
Not sure what the problem is; it's been through the deletion ringer before (and I though I had CC-BY-SA-ed it).
The image is created by me, I give full permission for it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, and it can be found on my site: http://www.freewebs.com/baxdesign/images/BGAlliance.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tartanperil (talk • contribs) 08:18, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
- The image can't be restored here until the WP:OTRS permission is received. Follow the link for OTRS for further information there- - I do not have access to that system. Skier Dude (talk) 01:46, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Your "please don't upload a image with this name" file uploads
[edit]I've just finished unlinking the file usages of them, using Twinkle. The only pages which did not have the images unlinked from are pages that are fully protected, and User:Multichill/Free uploads and any subpages of User:Multichill/Free uploads. (Btw, I don't mind if you subst the template I used for the prefix index link. Feel free to, if you want) LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 19:32, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Commons name in deletion summary
[edit]Can you please remember to indicate the name of the image on Commons in the deletion summary if it's not the same as en.wp? This helps non-admins locate their image. It also helps other admins where the NowCommons tag was never listed on the page at all (e.g., File:Iafl logo.png, which is kind of important, referencing commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Iafl logo s.png). Magog the Ogre (talk) 19:43, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think that is just how the the deletion reason dropdown list works. LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 19:51, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Could you please not use the drop down then? Please use the delete link in the transcluded instance of Template:NowCommons. Or at least copy the filename and paste it into the deletion summary. Also, where is the file I linked above on Commons? Magog the Ogre (talk) 22:08, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit]In reply to the message you left in my page, this is to let you know that pictures of the actual vehicle were uploaded recently and are now used in the article. Therefore, the reasons for fair use are no longer valid and the image can be deleted, no need to wait for a week. Thanks.--Mariordo (talk) 21:52, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification, Skier Dude. I originally wanted to add the screenshot to the Nitrome article. However, the infobox currently on the article does not support screenshots. Long term "Roman Catholic" vandal is back...
[edit]removing "Roman" from "Roman Catholic". In a new twist, in edit summaries he's accusing people who revert him as being "Protestant vandals". You blocked this fellow when he was using 76.4.177.96, but he's back at 76.4.177.52. I believe another block of this long-term vandal is in order, since he's continued past yet another final warning. You seem to have accidentally deleted the file description page while deleting old versions of this file. The actual file remains though, which seems... impossible. But anyway, since the deletion appears to be accidental can you please restore the page for this file along with its talk page? Reach Out to the Truth 06:18, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

The same goes for the Ohio House of Representatives, where there are six members without pages currently. Please refer to www.state.house.oh.us for their crediblity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.19.24.19 (talk) 19:29, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Incorrect deletion
[edit]The pages you just deleted did not "depend on a deleted or non-existant page" they were an instruction to create a particular redirect to fix broken links. Please create those redirects. -- 80.42.236.111 (talk) 08:56, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

why were the images deleted?
[edit]I don't understand why all the images were deleted from my iConji article. [edit]One more question, I don't seem to be able to rename the page. Dr. Seeley asked me this morning to change the page title from "William Seeley (neuropathologist)" to "William Seeley (neurologist)". Are you able to do this for me? Attempting License Resolution
[edit]I see you have tagged all those PNG icon graphics from the iConji article for deletion as orphans. Not sure I can resolve this within the 7 days allowed. Thanks. Heimhenge (talk) 15:46, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:MSU-Moorhead-Academic-Logo.jpg -- Controversy over change that orphaned image
[edit]Thank you for your message about the recently orphaned Minnesota State University Moorhead Academic Wordmark symbol image, File:MSU-Moorhead-Academic-Logo.jpg. User:Connormah elected to replace the designated university academic wordmark symbol with the University Seal. Use of the MSUM University Seal "is reserved for official and ceremonial use" according the the university visual identity guide. "Use of the seal for purposes other than those listed [in the visual identity guide] require the approval from the Office of the President of Minnesota State University Moorhead." Specific authorized uses are: university stationery, diplomas, legal documents, university-wide policies, university-awarded certificates and plaques, and system-mandated reports. I do not see notation that permission was extended for a non-listed use.
The single image academic wordmark symbol commonly in use by the university at the present is the stylized M you have marked for deletion; this is a new visual identity in the process of being implemented. The university logo is the one added to the bottom of the infobox, which seems like an appropriate use and place of display. The use of the official seal does not seem appropriate, or authorized. My suggestion would be reversion but this question probably merits administrator review. You may wish to consider reversion of User:Connormah changes to the single element academic wordmark symbol you have proposed to delete. More info on the university brand issue is in these links: http://web.mnstate.edu/brand/newidentity.htm http://web.mnstate.edu/brand/visual/symbols.pdf Thanks! Catchfree Page & Images
[edit]Hi Skier Dude,
I have a couple questions/comments. First, you rightfully flagged the two Catchfree images as being orphaned. This was done because ThatPeskyCommoner submitted the Catchfree Wikipedia page (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Catchfree) for speedy deletion, which happened before I could do anything. I strongly believe the Catchfree page was deleted unnecessarily and violated zero Wikipedia guidelines. I have tried to get the page back up, or a copy of the data, but have been unable to. Can you provide any assistance? This would negate the need to delete the Catchfree images, which are currently orphan images as you have correctly found.
Thanks much,

There's really no need to let me know. If you click on the article it's supposed to be used in (Alberta Highway 16) and see what's used in that article (File:Alberta Highway 16.svg) you'll see that it's a derivative of File:Trans-Canada Highway shield.svg which is public domain as of 2009. And you are an admin; You could just delete the image. There is no reason to retain the gif and the svg formats. delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 03:51, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Overreact much?
You may only unlink public domain images
[edit]Two days ago you unlinked the image used in MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer, MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer-anon and MediaWiki:Anontalkpagetext. You did that after another user requested that on the talkpages of those system messages.
But you may only unlink images that are public domain. Pretty much all other licenses demand attribution of the image author, and many of the licenses also demand that the name of the license should be stated. File:User-info.svg has the GPL license so it must be linked to the image page for attribution and for telling that it is the GPL license.
So I have re-linked that image in those system messages.

Hello Dude
[edit]Thank you, but let me ask you, what does 50 valid articles mean?? S∃AN (Hit) 04:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Articles that have not been deleted, nominated for deletion (prodded, speedy, etc.) - not including talk pages, redirects, image/file uploads, etc. I think that you're reading this backwards - autopatrolled means that the articles that you created are marked as already patrolled - it does nothing to help in patrolling new articles by you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:29, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- LOL, Thank you Dude. Anyway I know that, but you've said (it does nothing to help in patrolling new articles by you), no it does because when I fix unpatrolled page as adding category for example or adding source it will be flagged as a patrolled when I click save. That's the whole idea. Anyway thank you Dude I really appreciate your help. Have a good day. S∃AN (Hit) 04:44, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

- Badr-1 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- How do you nominate an image for speedy after it was uploaded before (twice!) and was deleted twice? --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 06:03, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- The safest way to do that would be to list it at Wikipedia:Files for deletion; once deleted that way it must go to Wikipedia:Deletion review. Skier Dude (talk) 06:12, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- IMO, after the repeat offender was blocked (his actions is now being review on WP:CCI) the image file should be deleted without a second thought. --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 06:17, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Protected files
[edit]Just curious, why do you add {{pp-protected|small=yes}} to protected files (like File:Doom.jpg) when the {{pp-protected}} template is directly below the license? — ξxplicit 00:55, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Without that template, the page gets listed in Category:Wikipedia pages with incorrect protection templates - which is patrolled regularly as it's often a clue to vandalized pages. Skier Dude (talk) 04:25, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- That's odd... most of these images don't have that additional template and they have never shown up in that category. I wonder why that is. — ξxplicit 21:45, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Got me - my gut instinct is the infamous "server lag" and job queue! I just respond to the requests when they show up:) Skier Dude (talk) 03:15, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, it probably is the job queue. A null edit of the file's description page should get it out of that category. I'll test that out next time I come across a generic file name. — ξxplicit 18:04, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Removing nomination for speedy deletion
[edit]Not sure what your reason is here User:Fred Bauder Talk 01:50, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Another disgruntled editor... I'm not seeing any specific subject/person being disparaged or threatened, or a BLP violation; just frustration with perceived Wiki-policies &/or procedures &/or editors in general. The page has been there for quite a while w/only vandalisms; ergo, I'm not seeing that it's eligible for deletion under G-10. Skier Dude (talk) 01:54, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- It disparages women in general, specifically Wikipedia editors. User:Fred Bauder Talk 02:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- It's a very insulting user page. It's like advertising your a sexist, a racist, etc on your user page, that's not very welcoming, either. I don't know why that would be acceptable on Wikipedia, this should be a safe space to work. Not a place where I have to visit another user's page and see them insulting me, my gender, or my fellow editors (since men can be feminists as well). It's really disparaging :( SarahStierch (talk) 02:06, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- It disparages women in general, specifically Wikipedia editors. User:Fred Bauder Talk 02:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- If you think it's G-10 worthy, take it to the admin notice board. I think this is covered fairly well in "Wikipedia is not censored". Skier Dude (talk) 03:13, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- I have to disagree. I'm not trying to censor anyone, in fact, I'm a strong anti-censorship proponent, but I don't understand why we have to "work" in an unhealthy, unwelcoming environment when insulting declarations about Wikipedia editors is acceptable. I think this falls into WP:BATTLEGROUND, especially if you have gotten familiar with the users behavior on the one article that he contributes to: Men's rights. It also falls into WP:Civility, it's "direct rudeness" to anyone who lands on their user page and is a feminist and/or a contributor to those articles. And finally, WP:Soapbox, he's quite adamant about his beliefs. I have a hard time having "good faith" for this editor based on his behavior. Whether we agree politically or not, I would never attack another belief system or ideal on my user page, and I have a feeling if I did, it wouldn't be there for long. Good manners and proper behavior in an educational environment isn't censorship :( I'm sorry we don't see eye to eye. SarahStierch (talk) 03:28, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- You are inappropriately framing this matter as a censorship question. Deletion of attack pages is long established Wikipedia policy. Please consider reversing your removal of the speedy deletion notice. User:Fred Bauder Talk 14:11, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

- Again, I do not see a specific attack on a specific person, or anything that qualifies for G-10. Anyone is free to take it to the admin noticeboard for discussion. Skier Dude (talk) 19:56, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- It is the "I don't see" part that is the problem. Why do you think the attack has to be directed to a specific person? User:Fred Bauder Talk 20:38, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- As you are unable to formulate a reason for removing the notice I have restored it. User:Fred Bauder Talk 17:52, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

The previous version of this file was an uncropped copy and the back of the photo to prove there are no copyright marks on it. Have been uploading like this for some time, as it's proof there are no issues with the image. With the deletion, there's no actual proof. Please advise. We hope (talk) 07:03, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- It appears that the discussion on the image talk page now clarifies the (c) situation - don't see anything else that needs to be done at this time. Skier Dude (talk) 20:16, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Realized a while ago there are too many images that just say "due to blah-blah, this is a free file", so I started uploading the uncropped photos and backs of them. Links don't last forever, so this is a permanent record of why the file qualifies under a free license. We hope (talk) 21:00, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
A pie for you!

Could you do me a small favor?
[edit]Could you please, please, please immediately "unprotect" Genetics and archaeogenetics of South Asia so that me and Andrew Lancaster can go in and edit it? Yes, I have left messages on the talk page of the protecting admin, but he hasn't responded as he is on a prolonged vacation. Doing this would harmonize and bring up-to-date all of the articles on South Asian population genetics, so that everybody has freely available and accurate info. Muchas, muchas gracias.

Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak
[edit]Hey Skier Dude, I was going through the articles needing copyedit to do some cleaning up and editing, and came across this page, Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak. After looking it over it is obviously not something that should be on Wikipedia. It's either completely made up or, if it's not, its still completely irrelevant and against Wikipedia:Notability. I noticed that you had previously deleted it so I thought I'd contact you for help. I'm still learning how to do a lot of the stuff on Wikipedia to help improve it and I don't know how to propose an article for deletion or delete it. I was hoping you could either describe the process or point me to a link that does so. Once I have an understanding of it, I will work on getting rid of this useless article. Thanks! Re: File:The Dynamic Mind by Warren Chaney, Ph.D.jpg.
[edit]Thanks Skier Dude. The image can be deleted. It was one of those things I uploaded, thinking it was a good idea but when I saw it, didn't think it worked so took it down in favor of another image that works better, I think. Images for deletion
[edit]Hi, you tagged a few of the images I uploaded a few days ago as files to be deleted. Is it possible to please remove the tags on said files as they are all currently linked to separate articles.
Thank you.

- Thanks for that and for the new message! Walker bass (talk) 20:50, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, I resized all the images and retagged each file page. I'm not sure if you're supposed to review it or someone else, I just thought I would let you know since you helped me at first. Thanks! Walker bass (talk) 21:51, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- I should clarify that all previous versions on each of the 4 file pages can be deleted immediately as they are no longer needed. Walker bass (talk) 21:56, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned image notifications
[edit]Hi, if you have a bot doing things like this; put me on the opt-out list. If not, you should know that I'm not associated with any image that's been uploaded by my account onto Wikipedia, primarily because I worked for the Wikimedia Foundation and frequently handled things in a maintenance capacity; as well as my work for OTRS; and therefore I would seriously appreciate not receiving notifications of any kind about image deletions.
