Hello Skier Dude. You recently left me a message about File:Shalamar medical and dental college logo 1.jpg being orphaned on English Wikipedia. This image was directly taken from their website and hence was in bad resolution and had a black background which wasn't part of the logo. Another version of the logo has been uploaded and currently used in its placed. The logo will also be used on official student's blog in future. The file name is File:Shalamar medical and dental college logo 2.png. If the previous version is being automatically nominated for deletion, I will have no problem with it because it did not gave proper idea of the logo anyway. File:Handispinkerthaneye.jpg
[edit]Hi. I'm tired so I may not be thinking straight, but I can't understand what's going on here. I moved the article and then updated the links in the fair-use rationale for the image used in the article, but for some reason the image is claimed to not be used anywhere, which I assume is why you tagged if for speedy deletion. What am I missing? --Mepolypse (talk) 10:32, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- When I posted the above File:Handispinkerthaneye.jpg listed the file as not being used anywhere, even though it was used at The Hand Is Pinker Than the Eye. Since then the uploader removed your orphan warning. I now note that the file is now listed as being in use on that page, even though nothing else has changed. What's going on here? Some sort of lag in the system? --Mepolypse (talk) 17:28, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Request
[edit]Hey, Skier Dude - I'm sure you do not remember me but we once met when a certain user kept restoring a page of "plagiarised" Bollywood films as an unofficial list. A discussion resulted in a clear consensus that no such pages are relevant and everything of this sort can be mentioned on the Bollywood page and if a film is subject to plagiarism accusations, it will be mentioned on the film article itself. Since one user kept edit warring and re-adding the same page despite the agreement, you protected the page and several other pages. Now, Ashvin.chougule (talk · contribs) starts another similar page (Partial List of Movies Plagiarised by Bollywood), without sources, without citations, and without any prior discussion or consensus. This is turning into an edit war I personally am not willing to take part in. I kindly request you to protect this page. Thanks and regards, Shahid • Talk2me 18:53, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Hey Skier Dude- Why user Shshshsh (talk · contribs) is against the providing factual information to the Wiki users I dont understand. What does it means by official/unofficial list? It can be either factual or non factual list in this scenario. As there exists reference to plagiarism on film article itself, why someone should not assemble such references and provide as a list. I encorage you to unprotect the page and I agree to cite/link/reference every single movie/film to verifiable source. One movie at a time. Somebody educate user Shshshsh (talk · contribs) that if something has to be removed, it should be redirected to proper reference instead of pages of own choice.

- Evidently you are referring to Partial List of Movies Plagiarised by Bollywood. This type of list is in direct violation of the biographies of living persons policy. This has been discussed at the Talk:BLP in the past (in generic terms regarding lists) and also at Talk:Bollywood. Both the aforementioned article and many others follow this for many other examples have been blanked and redirected. So, no, it won't be unprotected; the redirect to Bollywood#Plagiarism is a legitimate redirect. I'd suggest you go to Talk:Bollywood and begin a discussion on the expansion of the plagiarism section. Skier Dude (talk 03:58, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
BLP and Lists:
[edit]Hey Skier Dude I am unable to find any relevant discussion at Talk:BLP, Further I presume that all of us here know the difference between BLP (biographies of living persons) and works of living/dead person or corporations. In addition to that you might be aware of exceptions of BLPs, BLPs are not applicable for dead persons and corporations ( and I assume hence does not applicable to their work).
Going by logic any user should be allowed to create list/article on plagiarism in bollywood esp for movies produced by corporations and person who are currently dead (today 99% of the movies are produced by corporation, I might be slightly off on percentage number)
Your reply does not cover my justification maintenance of factual and well referenced, verifiable list.
Please refer to one of 5 Pillars of Wiki:
Wikipedia does not have firm rules. Rules on Wikipedia are not fixed in stone, and the spirit of the rule trumps the letter of the rule. Be bold in updating articles and do not worry about making mistakes. Your efforts do not need to be perfect; prior versions are saved, so no damage is irreparable
So the discussion which you are referring may warrant revision.
It seems to me, bunch of people have taken the ownership articles of their personal preference, instead of improving the newly added articles (which might be against personal POV) they prefer to delete the article they don't like. Personally I was not aware of such censorship on Wiki, at not until now, and its more.
DELETION is not the solution its mere escape. IMPROVE it
I am referring to Partial List of Movies Plagiarised by Bollywood.
I am highlighting one of the comment by user who deleted my page
Shshshsh (talk | contribs) (23 bytes) (This was already discussed many a time, no such pages should be created.)

I am not going to take NO for an answer without justification and ready to take this matter to one level up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashvin.chougule (talk • contribs) 17:57, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hi,
you recently informed me that the image File:Moon museum nyt.jpg was removed from the article Moon Museum and will be deleted. I am not completely up on my fair use rationale and stuff, but i would still like to include it int he article since it shows the actual wafer on the moon and not a copy of one ( which the new picture is). is it ok to re-instate it into the article on those grounds, or since there is now a mor eclear picture available on wiki is this one not usable? Thanks. --Found5dollar (talk) 15:29, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Commas in infoboxes
[edit]About this edit, where you removed some commas I previously added, do you feel the commas are distracting? I know the guidelines don't recommend using commas to delimit items in infoboxes, but I feel they are a good complement to the line breaks, to make it easier to visually separate different items (less so in this case, but more so in cases when the items are longer, even spanning more than one line, and less well known). Is AWB configured to automatically remove commas or did you do that manually. (You left the commas in place for some other items in the infobox.) --Mepolypse (talk) 16:27, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- The commas at the end of these lines is not only visually distracting, they are useless - if there's a line break for each of the items it leaves a hanging comma at the end of each line, which does nothing (not even visually separating different items). This is for those lists when there's a single line for each entry; If there's no line breaks, the commas are left there. And no, AWB doesn't default either way right now. Skier Dude (talk 04:37, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
For example: a list like
|starring = [[Tom Sizemore]],<br />[[Richard Jenkins]],<br />[[Ving Rhames]],<br />[[Colm Feore]]
Example with commas | |
---|---|
Starring | Tom Sizemore, Richard Jenkins, Ving Rhames, Colm Feore |
becomes
starring = [[Tom Sizemore]]<br />[[Richard Jenkins]]<br />[[Ving Rhames]]<br />[[Colm Feore]]
Example without commas | |
---|---|
Starring | Tom Sizemore Richard Jenkins Ving Rhames Colm Feore |
---–
- Well, I disagree. I find your first example easier to visually separate and not visually distracting at all. (Even more so in less obvious cases, such as when one name is longer than a single row.) Good to know that others don't agree though. --Mepolypse (talk) 07:52, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Where am I supposed to find a picture that is free except google? Though I heard it from another user that it was okay to run a picture from google.com. I have added another reference too, I'll see if I can find anything else. Also is there a way that I can prevent this page from deletion because most users just directly delete the page and they don't even say why until I would ask, I have worked really hard on this page. Nasirakd (talk) 05:31, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Contacting them wouldn't be possible for but I'll see if I can get the exact link, and so I will put in the source but it would still ask for the license tag. Nasirakd (talk) 05:46, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- This is the link to the picture, but its from a fan site so it maybe picture from google search the fan site person must have edited, I only edited it to remove the name and black background. So it could be a promotional photo, but doesn't promotional photo come under free license? Nasirakd (talk) 06:03, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
I doubt that any of the five pictures are from a film or video series, so which tags sounds good now. Also I have the TV Show Whistler I can do screen capture myself so if nothing else works I can do that too, but then again I'm a little low on license tagging and free or non-free matters.
