Speedy deletion declined: User talk:Ralghanmi

[edit]

Hello Simeondahl. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User talk:Ralghanmi, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The reason given is not a valid speedy deletion criterion. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 12:59, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, sorry. What shal i use if a User/IP is creating a talk-page like that? --Simeondahl (talk) 13:01, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In general, user talk pages are not eligible for speedy deletion unless they consist of material copied from elsewhere in violation of copyright or serve only to attack another person. Based on the machine translation, this user's talk page appears to be a statement about the user her- or himself. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 13:12, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ohh, okay. :) - Sorry, it won't happend agen. --Simeondahl (talk) 13:13, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RFA

[edit]

Hi, I wanted to let you know I undid your RFA transclusion, an RFA must follow a specific format and there are instructions at WP:RFA on how to properly nominate yourself. Before doing that, you should know that based on your editing history, your RFA will almost certainly fail due to your lack of experience. While there is no hard limit on the minimum experience to pass at RFA, it is very rare for an editor with less the 2000 contributions to pass. I suggest you continue editing and gain some more experience before you consider trying to nominate yourself again. Also, we generally focus on contributions on the english Wikipedia, so while edits elsewhere will help, they are not a substitute for editing experience locally. CVUA

[edit]
Hello, SimmeD/Archive 1! The instructors at the Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy have seen your hard work reverting Vandalism when you see it, and we thank you. But do you want to go to the next level? Would you like to know how reverts, warnings, reports, blocks, and bans all come together to keep the Encyclopedia free from disruption? Then consider Enrolling today! Achowat (talk) 15:34, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

.

Hey there Simeondahl! My name is Achowat and I'm one of the instructors at the Academy. I've put a hold on your Enrollment because you seem to be just under our recommended edit count to enroll. We would like to have you aboard, but we would like to make sure you have the fundamentals of editing down first. What I would suggest is spend the next few days patrolling recent changes (WP:RCP#What to do can give you some useful advice) and if you can make another couple of constructive edits over the next, say, 4 or 5 days, then I'll happily re-evaluate your case. In the meantime, if you have any specific questions, feel free to drop me a line at my talk or ask a question at Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit/Academy/Questions. I hope this is something you can be committed to, so that we can have you enrolled by the next couple of days. Cheers! Achowat (talk) 15:50, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and thank you. The next day, I will patrol "recent changes" on wikipedia. I have one question, what is "CDE Academy"? --Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 15:56, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I assume you're talking about the CVU Academy. The Counter-Vandalism Unit is a group of editors who want to reduce the amount of damage and disruption that vandals can cause to the Project. We do this by patrolling recent changes to Identify vandalism, Restore the stable version, Warn the user in question, and Report them if vandalism persists. The Academy is a place where editors who want to become counter-vandals can come and be paired with more experiences editors to "show them the ropes", as it were, and work to improve the new editors skills in Identifying, Restoring, Warning, and Reporting. You can check out CVU at WP:CVU and the Academy's home page at WP:CVUA. Achowat (talk) 16:01, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ohh, okay :) Ty. I will start removeing vandalism. :) --Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 16:04, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The CVU homepage has links to some useful information that might help you. Specifically on how to identify vandalism, restore the correct version, warn the user in question, and report them to the Admins if the vandalism persists. It might not be a bad idea to give those a read. Achowat (talk) 16:07, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I will read it layter today. --Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 16:30, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And if you have any questions about any of them, just let me know. Achowat (talk) 17:14, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Given our conversation, I've decided to "approve" you for the Academy and will be serving as your instructor. Let me know if you have any questions. Achowat (talk) 17:52, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :D -But if i am a member of "CVU Academy" can o get more function, or is it just a group that help wikipedia??? --Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 19:34, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I want to be perfectly clear, the CVU (and its Academy) is only a WikiProject, a group of editors with similiar interest who want to help improve the project. And let me say, I'm kind of concerned with this question. After your attempt at RFA and Rollback, your first question for me is whether this will give you any special power. Remember that the Tools admins are given (including Rollback, which can be given to non-admins) only help us, as editors, do the work we do easier; they impart no status, no real "power" on us. In fact, the Tools can only be used in the very narrow ways that are describe by policy. Chuck Palahniuk probably said it best "Worker bees can leave. Even drones can fly away. The Queen is their slave". I wouldn't be too concerned with getting new tools unless they would help you do things easier. I'm a little concerned as it seems you're collecting hats and not trying to build a better encyclopedia. Though, I'd be very happy to be proven wrong. Achowat (talk) 19:44, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I will just say that i don't care about the powner i have. I just need to know what i am a member of, and what is relly is. I know that "Tools admins" is only a extra function to make wikipedia better with. I am not more then a IP user. I am not trying to make article, i am trying to remove vandalism. I thanks you so mush that you "approve" me, and i will do my best i can to help wikipedia. --Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 19:50, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent! I'm glad to hear it! Well, the first thing I would do to learn to be more useful in fighting Vandalism is to read the 4 guidelines and essays I linked to above. If you have any questions, let me know. Keep patrolling recent changes before, but anytime you come across vandalism that you would use Rollback on, leave the edit summary rvv just so that I can review what you're doing and give you pointers. Achowat (talk) 19:54, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, i skal just give rvv as the sammry, wen u use Rollback? --Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 19:58, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd take a look at WP:ROLLBACK for examples of when you should use Rollback (and during this training, when you should use RVV as a summary. Generally speaking, you should use it for Blatant Vandalism. Achowat (talk) 20:01, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to jump in Acho, hope you don't mind. The main tool (not power) that comes to mind is rollback, which if you show a history of reverting vandalism, (about 500 edits) I would definetly tell you to apply. Dan653 (talk) 23:28, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How good are i doing my job for now? -I hope i have made the good choice. --Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 12:27, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm probably not going to be able to review your contributions for the next few hours. I know you're on Euro-time, so you should have a fuller review come morning. (Though the fact that Tom Morris, an admin I have nothing but respect for, has given you Rollback rights should be an indication that you're doing something right.) Achowat (talk) 15:10, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

[edit]

I have granted rollback rights to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know and I will remove it. Good luck and thanks. —Tom Morris (talk) 14:43, 26 April 2012 (UTC) —Tom Morris (talk) 14:43, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CVU Academy

[edit]
CVU Academy Graduate
Given that an Administrator has recently approved you for the Rollback Flag, it is the decision of the community that you have learned enough about Identifying, Restoring, Warning, and Reporting to be trusted with a new tool. As such, let me be the first to congradulate you for graduating from the Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy. Your instructor and the whole Academy will still be around if you have any questions. Congradulations! Achowat (talk) 12:48, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch

Thanks for your help on Dmytro Firtash. I just requested Indefinite semi-protection for this page at WP:RFPP. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 18:39, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Abd al-Karīm ibn Hawāzin Qushayri, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fatima (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please don't accuse editors of vandalism unless you're sure they have committed it. In particular, avoid using the word in edit summaries (such as "reverting vandalism"), and be very careful about posting vandalism warning templates on users' talkpages. Review the vandalism policy thoroughly before you do that, and see especially the section "What vandalism is not". Note that content disputes are not vandalism, and that good-faith edits of any kind, even if you think them misguided, are not to be considered vandalism. Vandalism accusations without any basis in policy are bad for the climate on the wiki and make constructive discussion more difficult. See also Wikipedia:Avoid the word "vandal".

Hi! Both yesterday and today, you tagged Ilion, Greece for speedy deletion as a test page. It's been declined both times. This raises a couple of issues that I wonder whether you're aware of. One is that both times, someone had blanked it; it looks as if you didn't check and see this. The other is that it's a redirect, created on 20 March 2005 (and moved by someone else to redirect to its current target, Ilio, Greece on 21 July 2006). So it has been around for a long time and had more than one editor and is no longer a candidate for speedy deletion - and if you believe it to be nonsensical, since it is a redirect, the place to send it for discussion is Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. It was created by User:Pumpie, who is indefinitely blocked and therefore can't respond to the notice you left, but I have his/her talkpage watchlisted, so I'm pointing this out instead. Many of Pumpie's redirects have indeed been deleted as unnecessary, but this can't be done as a speedy and shouldn't be done on the basis of someone having blanked one. I hope this makes sense; I'm glad there are people like you patrolling for things that should be cleaned up, but this one has way too much history to be speedied. You need to check to make sure you aren't looking at the result of vandalism or someone else's idea of cleanup :-) Yngvadottir (talk) 16:21, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hehe, I mess myself into something I do not have complete control over a few times :/ - But I try as far as to make it right. I was somewhat in doubt whether it was nonsense or whatever it was. But I'll check the history and everything else føst :) But I as I understand what you wrote and will certainly remember it for next time - Good luck. Greetings Simeondahl [This user is patrol] (talk) 17:03, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Just want to point out a few things to you.

  1. Your signature: Why do you have [This user is patrol] in it?
  2. WikiFormatting: Could you read WP:Formatting, as I noticed in the thread above that you did not use the proper list format.

Thanks! --Tomtomn00 (talkcontributions) 19:17, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
