Bot automation at Wikipedia:Today's articles for improvement
Greetings WikiProject TAFI members!
Over the past two weeks, there has been extensive discussion on introducing bot automation to assist with maintenance of the Today's Articles for Improvement project. A bot has now been approved for trial and will carry out the weekly duties. The bots first run will occur around 00:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC) (midnight on Sunday).
If you have been assisting any of the weekly maintenance tasks, please refrain from doing so this week. The bot needs to be tested and proven it can do the job, and it only gets one chance per week. The tasks will include:
- Adding the new scheduled article to Wikipedia talk:Today's articles for improvement and removing the entry from Wikipedia:Articles for improvement
- Set up the schedule pages for the new TAFI, except the adding of an image and caption
- Adding {{TAFI}} to the new article for improvement, remove {{TAFI}} from last week's article and add {{Former TAFI}} to the talk page
- Notify relevant WikiProjects that the new TAFI is within their scope
- Send a mass message to everyone on the notification list of the new TAFI selection
Updating the accomplishments and archiving selections is still done manually, along with daily tasks such as adding approved entries to the articles for improvement page. These will become automated in the near future.
We hope the bot proves to serve well, and by carrying out the routine housekeeping tasks we can boost the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the project. MusikBot thanks you for your service in helping with the weekly tasks in the past, and for your cooperation during this trial period :)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Luke Brugnara article vandalized, please help!
The Luke Brugnara article has been vandalized with removal of new factual information supported by references and I am requesting that User:Donner60 and User:Jpgordon be blocked or prevented from further vandalizing the Luke Brugnara article and stonewalling any new insightful facts as these two individuals are clearly biased. Joshualeverburg1 (talk) 06:15, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Joshualeverburg1: Nope, sorry. It seems pretty clear to me that if there's any vandalism going on, it's your POV edits. Your claim in your edit is not backed up by the source. Unless you have a reliable source to back any claim like that one, then it's not going to happen. SilverserenC 09:40, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Need some advice
Hey Seren, hope you're doing well. I wanted to solicit your advice about some obstacles I've run into regarding my paid COI work. Obviously, not everyone is going to agree with the work that I do, but I'm unsure how to proceed in a case like this. I had made an edit request for David M. Cote, and it was denied for being spam. In my honest judgment, I felt that it was quality content, otherwise I would not have made the request. I asked the user who denied my request to elaborate on why they felt it was spam, but they reverted my question off of their talk page, again in the name of spam. I don't want to escalate this too far, but I'm not exactly sure where to go from here. Any thoughts?--FacultiesIntact (talk) 21:42, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- @FacultiesIntact: I assume this is about the Career section discussion at the bottom of the talk page? Looking over your version, there are definitely some useful additions to the first and last section that I wouldn't call spam at all. For the middle section on TRW, however, I would say that "of the $16 billion Cleveland-based products and services provider for the automotive, aerospace and information technology markets" is not needed and seems a bit promotional. If they want to know what TRW does, the reader can click the link right in that sentence to that page. Other than that though, the other proposed additions sound useful. I'll go have a talk with Joseph. SilverserenC 00:25, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
- @FacultiesIntact: Anyways, back to the content. So, outside of the TRW addition, the other two sections look fine. And the references look good. I just have one question/request. For the total compensation information, I assume there's not a secondary source with the info or you'd be using that as a reference, but is there potentially a primary source that is independent of Honeywell? Like some sort of agency that would record said information? That would be preferable as a source. SilverserenC 18:39, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
- First of all, thanks for sticking up for me. It really means a lot, personally. Regarding the content, I can see your point about the TRW info being extraneous. I included it as it was part of the article when I initially started working on it, and it has since been removed. Generally, I try to avoid deleting original content as that can be just as, if not more contentious than adding content. That said, your point still stands and I think it reads better without it. As for the total compensation, I used the Honeywell document because, since they are a publicly traded company, this is the same information that they present to the SEC. I haven't found anywhere that records these numbers directly, and other sources of CEO incomes (like Forbes and Bloomberg) typically differ in how they calculate it. While I can see why an internal document wouldn't normally be ideal, I think this is the best source for the information since it's directly accountable to the federal government.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 20:57, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
- @FacultiesIntact: Alright, that's fine. It's still a perfectly good source for such basic numbers information. I've gone ahead and made the additions to the Career section. I also took the liberty of adding in a ref for his birthdate in the lede. SilverserenC 21:56, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

- I received an email, but only from no-reply-notifications@wikipedia.org - which is not an address I can reply to with an attachment. On the first page of your preferences, do you have "Enable email from other users" checked? (I don't know that that would cause this problem, but it's the only thing I can think of.) Worldbruce (talk) 05:27, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Worldbruce: I tried switching to a different email, which worked fine. It sent me the email change confirmation email and everything. But whenever I try to send an email to you (and tell it to email me a copy), I never get the copy. I have no idea what's going on. And, yes, I have email enabled in my preferences. - Thx. Maybe I need to hit ctl-R more often. PraeceptorIP (talk) 02:10, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- @PraeceptorIP: Refreshing may or may not work, depending on what the exact issue is. As a secondary option if refreshing does end up not working in the future, if you go into and activate Preferences --> Gadgets --> "Add a clock to the personal toolbar that displays the current time in UTC and provides a link to purge the current page", you both get a clock on the top right of the page that gives you the current wiki time and the ability to purge the page (refresh it server-side) by clicking the clock while on the relevant page. Purging should only be used sparingly, since it takes up server space to do so, but it's a good method if you're running into page updating issues. No harm in having the Gadget activated, at least.
