A tag has been placed on File:Level 3 high power rocket at launch pad.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. File permission problem with File:Level 3 high power rocket at launch pad.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Level 3 high power rocket at launch pad.jpg, which you've attributed to http://www.nar.org/high-power-rocketry-info/. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --  Kethrus |talk to me  18:41, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I just sent off the e-mail and added the tag. Thanks for the assist! SidelinedAV8R 18:50, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:US rocketeers on the winner's stand, WSMC 2010.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Stop it!

[edit]

Please stop uploading these images with invalid licence details. There is utterly no point in linking to the text of the CC licence - what we need is a link to a statement on the NAR website that the images are licenced. Alternatively, permission can be established as explained here. In both cases the images should be uoladed to the Commons. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:06, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • In reference to your advice, I thought I'd taken care of the "permission can be established as explained here," since I've sent e-mails to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, and received ticket numbers 2015101810010435 and 2015102410000345. In the case of ticket number 435, I've received permission, and I'm not sure what I did differently/wrong in the case of the other permission request. If you could let me know what to do differently, I'll take care of it. — SidelinedAV8R 13:16, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

Please learn: discussion threads should be kept on one page; there is no need to quote large chunks of a preceding message; messages should be signed with links to your user page or your talk page or your contribs history or preferably all three. Quite simply, with none of your uploads have you actually cited the OTRS ticket number or even mentioned that OTRS confirmation is being sought. With File:Model rockets ready for liftoff at a club launch.jpg someone else took pity on you and supplied the OTRS tag. What to do differently: upload your images again to the Commons; use File:Model rockets ready for liftoff at a club launch.jpg as a template for the image description and forward the relevant OTRS email/s back to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org making sure to list all the file names of your uploads (plus the one I have just done). — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:00, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still not entirely sure that I got everything right, but even at worst it's considerably closer. Thanks for the guidance.SidelinedAV8R 19:08, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
