I strongly agree with your comment while deleting the Jewish blogs chapter from Judaism. If it should be anywhere, it should be under Jew(s) rather than Judaism. However, for the article Jew such a random choice of blogs with the ridiculous description of race for Jews would imho have no added value. Just my two cents. Welcome to Wikipedia and do keep up this good work! Regards, gidonb 19:02, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! Thanks for the rewrite. Looks good. WP:MOS requires that we call him "Scheinberg" after the first mention. So much for that. Where are you from, anyway? - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 01:08, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha!! Conspiracy! Secret code!! Must avoid detection by kid's rebbe and expulsion from yeshiva! Hehehehe... I love how in your town all the advertisements for basement businesses come with phone numbers encoded in Hebrew characters. It's a riot. I am sure anyone who cares to do so will easily discover my identity in 1/2 hour of googling if they know my WP username. One day when it's time for my kids to get married, I better burn this thing. I got edits to articles on a"z, sh"d, and g"a. :) :) Carry on, soldier. Gut yom tov. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 23:58, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know where in Passaic you're going to live? I live in Passaic, as you probably know. You can write me by email if you don't want to use my talk page. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 00:21, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I live in Passaic, but a block away from Clifton. I think there's a considerable difference in property tax rates, and I don't remember which one's higher. They do have here a yiddishe preschool program in the public school for 3 and 4 year olds, which is kosher and free, but only for Passaic residents. If you have kids, the tuition savings may be something to think about. There are no established shuls in Clifton - but several good shtieblach. That's about all I could tell you. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 00:31, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Philosophy

[edit]

Shykee, you mentioned an interest in classical Jewish philosophy. I was just wondering if you meant this in a causal sense (i.e. using "philosophy" to mean a way of thinking) or if you specifically meant this in the academic sense, i.e. philosophy in Judaism, aka Jewish philosophy. We need some work on neo-Platonic and neo-Aristotelian Jewish thinkers. RK 23:57, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Judaism

[edit]

I thought you were arguing that Judaism is a religion (a position I question), but you quote Hirsch saying "Judaism is not a religion." Boyarin and Hirsch may disagree on many things but on this one thing they seem to agree. Slrubenstein | Talk 13:55, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments. I am indeed attempting to clean up the talmud article. It is difficult to work in such a huge article however. I think what I am going to do is cut and past the current article into a word file and then work on it over time...when i get it down to something i think is passable i will copy the finished product back into wikipedia and let the comments and corrections do the rest.

i should indeed have a seperate sub-heading for mishna and gemara. I will do so. thanks for the encouragement.--Guedalia D'Montenegro 04:26, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Good Book

[edit]

Hag Sameach!

Do you think it is controversial to claim that Jews call their Tanakh "the Bible?" I don't. Do you think it is controversial to claim that "the Bible" refers only to the combined "Old Testament" and "New Testament," i.e. is a term that refers to the sacred scriptures of Christians (but not Jews)? I do, but this is precisely the claim Home Computer is making on the Bible talk page: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Bible#Current_layout

Feel free to weigh in. And please watch out for Home Computer's attempts to change the article. Slrubenstein | Talk 11:01, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
