Proposed Edits to Article: Merkel Cell Carcinoma

[edit]

Hello Wikipedia community following the article titled Merkel Cell Carcinoma,

We are a group of medical students from Canada looking at this article. After careful review, we are considering making small changes to several areas of the article. With regards to the "diagnosis" section, we hope to do the following:

1) Add a sentence describing histologic appearance of Merkel cell carcinomas - What does it look like under light microscope? - Include a sentence about how to make a differential diagnosis w small cell lung cancer, other melanoma, and other neoplasms using histopathological features (essentially expanding on this histological diagnosis) 2) Making minor changes to the organization of the subheading - Currently, the article is primarily talking about primary tutors. We hope to add another heading for staging workup: what is required to determine sentinel lymph node status? What is the typical medical work up? For example, "Typically, x patients will get sentinel lymph node to determine tumor status & imaging studies __."

I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
