Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to List of Saved by the Bell episodes, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 03:34, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at List of Saved by the Bell episodes, you may be blocked from editing. MPFitz1968 (talk) 05:21, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How am I disruptive? Yes, I did just cause a formatting error which I was in the process of fixing, but apparently you fixed it first. Aside from that, I am fixing episode errors and after I explained what I was doing there hasn't been any issues. Shewolf02 (talk) 05:26, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please read MOS:TVEPISODELIST, which states that [e]pisodes should generally be arranged in order of airdate. You are rearranging the order of the episodes, and while retaining the episode's original airdate, this reordering violates the above guideline. And what are you basing your order of the episodes on? In any case, it doesn't matter; per the guideline I've cited, the original airdate is the way the episodes are sequenced. MPFitz1968 (talk) 05:29, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Episodes should generally be arranged in order of airdate, with any notable production discrepancies covered in appropriate notes or in a production section. However, there may be situations where ordering by airdate would not be beneficial to readers.
If you find yourself defending something as it is the "academic standard" or because it is what you as an editor want, you know you're going wrong! Write for our readers, not for academics and not for yourself.
Remember that the main purpose of Wikipedia is to provide useful articles for readers. For an encyclopedia, like Wikipedia, this clearly means providing reliable and accurate information. But it goes beyond this. It means providing that reliable and accurate information in a way that the reader will understand and find interesting. This encourages readers to stay, to follow links to more information, maybe even to contribute to Wikipedia themselves. If information is reliable and accurate, but presented in a way that is difficult for the reader to understand, or in a style the reader does not like, then the reader will go to one of the many other online encyclopaedias or other sources of information.
If this is hard for you to understand, I'll condense it for you: you're being a jerk. Shewolf02 (talk) 05:44, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I read the exception in MOS:TVEPISODELIST about the ordering by airdate not being beneficial to readers, which also goes into discussing this on the article's talk page and gaining a WP:CONSENSUS on how to do the ordering, along with reliable sources that support that doing it the general way is not beneficial (or helpful, or appropriate). I see nothing in your reply that explains why changing the order of the episodes in Saved by the Bell to something other than by airdate is helpful. And if that's the case, can you name other TV series that should do it differently?
Remember that the main purpose of Wikipedia is to provide useful articles for readers., etc. Yes, that is the goal, and readers should expect that, although this is being put in generalities. Again, specifically, how is changing the order of the episode listing in Saved by the Bell helpful to readers, putting it in some order of your preference, where you haven't even cited the source(s) that support this kind of ordering, beyond the MOS:TV guidelines? Those readers are gonna be looking for some explanation if the episodes are listed in some random way that is not in a comprehensive order, like airdate, or even production codes.
If you believe strongly that the ordering should be different at List of Saved by the Bell episodes, start a discussion on the talk page there and provide an explanation why it should be an exception to the normal ordering stated in MOS:TVEPISODELIST, along with any reliable sources which support this. Your edit summary in the article of "Updating episode order according to show", across many edits of yours, is not enough. Provide an explanation in article prose, along with sources, that support the order change. MPFitz1968 (talk) 09:23, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
