Request for Article

[edit]

I am the Studio Assistant at The Lapis Press and was previously unaware of the conflict of interest rule on Wikipedia (I'm a first-time contributor). I have put in a request for an article in the Museums/Exhibitions section as it was the closest fit to our organization. Per wiki rules, I want to make clear that I wok at Lapis and therefore need a non-biased party to compile the wiki page. Our website is www.lapispress.com and here are some third party sources: http://artforum.com/uploads/guide.001/id23208/press_release.pdf http://articles.latimes.com/1991-04-21/entertainment/ca-560_1_sam-francis http://www.artprwire.com/post/270072463/la-brea-matrix Presslapiswiki (talk) 20:34, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for "going through channels", as it were. If you'd like to contribute to Wikipedia in other areas or to monitor the Lapis Press article (within the conflict of interest guidelines) if it's created, you will need to change your username or register a new one. This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Lapis press, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://lapispress.com/100.htm.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lapis press requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen (Presslapiswiki) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. 5 albert square (talk) 13:43, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
