Renaming of your account

[edit]
Resolved
 – The other user chose a different username. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 04:22, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please reply here with a new name for your account. Another account was in the process of being renamed to this username when you created the account, and as that request was placed before you created this account, that account gets preference on this username. I have added this page to my watchlist, so please reply here. Please respond ASAP. Thanks! ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:46, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's not exactly fair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamhat456 (talkcontribs) 23:48, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is my name, and I would like to remain. Thank you very much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamhat456 (talkcontribs) 23:49, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is very fair as the other user requested this username before you registered it. You can see the guideline regarding this on the Changing username page. I apologize for any inconvenience. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:56, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Point 6 doesn't apply to me, it applies to that user, since I am using the name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamhat456 (talkcontribs) 00:00, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It does apply as they requested the username 15 hours before you registered it. I understand that this is annoying, but they do have first choice on the username because they requested it before you registered it. May I suggest something like "Shamus Hattenburg" or "Shamus 455" (based on the information on your user page)? ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:07, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am the 455th reincarnation, which if you include the original make me #456!!! Shamhat456 (talk) 00:09, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, "Shamus 456" then. Will that be an acceptable username? ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:15, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
NO, I refuse.Shamhat456 (talk) 00:17, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's not really a question of whether you agree to it or not as the policy is quite clear on who has precedence. However, I will see if the other editor is willing to select another, different username. I will keep you apprised of the situation. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:36, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, the other editor has chosen to be polite and allow you to keep this username. I apologize for any intrusion. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 04:22, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As a courtesy to other editors, it is a Wikipedia guideline to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, and WikiProject pages. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then be automatically added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info, read Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thank you. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:07, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 00:16, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The term Volcano Nut can also be used as a reference to Peter North (pornographer). Please consider adding a disambiguation.Nick Crthylbruillymoses (talk) 01:50, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WTF are you talking about? You add a disambiguation if you want to, I don't know anything about that guy.Shamhat456 (talk) 08:51, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - just a courtesy notice that I have redirected Carbon Units to the existing article Carbon credit which deals with the topic. Thanks.  7  08:21, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I did not see that.Shamhat456 (talk) 08:22, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I left a comment, which is basically that I don't care one way or the other.Shamhat456 (talk) 20:39, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David Duke

[edit]

David Duke is famous for being a controversial figure, not for donating to any notable institution or discipline in his life. As stated in the Wikipedia University article guidelines, "Summarize the number of affiliates and alumni who have won major scholarships (Rhodes, Fulbright, etc.), major awards (Nobel, Oscar, Pulitzer, etc.), served as heads of government or other major political office, or otherwise held elite or notable distinctions (astronauts, professional athletes, CEOs, etc.)". The only reason David Duke is famous is for twisted racial views. Other than that the only office he has ever held is as a Louisiana State Representative, a minor position compared to other alumni on the main page.
