[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is invited to contribute, at least one of your recent edits did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. lTopGunl (talk) 01:34, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Thankyou for the Guidelines, I will use them next time and I am new to editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahhh (talk • contribs)
- Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. I think you mistakenly copied my signature to the end of your comments which I assume was a mistake. --lTopGunl (talk) 21:45, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Yes , I'm trying to fit in... Thankyou I will use the signature button.--Shahhh (talk) 07:05, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Flag Icons
[edit]Please do not put flag icons on top of city infoboxes. It already says which country the city is in. City articles do not contain flags generally, atleast not on the top of the infobox. --lTopGunl (talk) 01:37, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
If you checkout any city of India or United Kingdom- you will never find any other flag but their own country flag. This is pathetic that Pakistani cities have separate flags to their singular country flag. You need to take this in notice and act upon it! Mind it if you are a true Pakistani- then you should use a single Pakistani flag on all the Wikipedia material related to Pakistani cities. Thankyou! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahhh (talk • contribs)
- Please see my reply at my talk page, where you responded. You can discuss further when you are unblocked. Read this before starting to edit again as it will help you understand how to go about making the new edits. When your edits are removed, you have to discuss with that editor on article talkpage and when there is an agreement then you insert what is decided. In case of a disagreement, you can follow up at one of the many dispute resolution venues so that other uninvolved editors can help resolve the dispute. You may also be confused about some things like the Balochistan province and the Balochistan region which are two different things. If you think some thing is being done at the other articles and not here and that you have a valid point, you can bring that up in a discussion (like you did on my talk page), not by reverting edits. --lTopGunl (talk) 21:40, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, I have been blocked by you " user topgun"... and now this other user... totally not fare. I did not do any further editing - trying to learn from you. Unable to reply on your talk page due to "Block by Qwyrxian". I did not get any warnings from this new user...whats happening?--Shahhh (talk) 07:17, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
I agree, the fact there shouldn't be any small flag icon on top of the page which was a mistake. But If you check out any other cities of India , They only place their Indian flag which means no emblems no other flag. There shouldn't be no other flag than Pakistani Flag. --Shahhh (talk) 07:20, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I can explain the blocking part. First, any editor may warn any other editor when they perceive editing that violates one of our rules (policies and guidelines). In this case, across a number of articles, you kept adding flags, despite being told not to. More importantly, from my perspective, was that you were trying to call Balochistan a province of Pakistan, which it is not. To me, that meant you were either vandalizing, or trying to push a point of view (claiming ownership for one country for an area that stretches across several). Both are unacceptable behavior. While any editor can warn another, only administrators can block other editors. Top Gun reported your problematic behavior on one of your noticeboards, where I saw the complaint. After reviewing your edits, I felt that the edits were improper, and that even after being warned multiple times, you persisted in the same problematic edits. I felt that the only way to stop the disruption was to temporarily block you. I don't need to warn you first, since Top Gun already did that (it wouldn't make sense that you can only be blocked by someone that's warned you). Then, I re-blocked you, making the block longer, because, instead of waiting for your block to expire, or requesting an unblock like is explained below, you created a new account and carried on the same problematic behavior. That's a significant problem. Now, if you want to request to be unblocked, please follow the procedures outlined in the red box below. If you make another account (we call that a sockpuppet, we'll spot that, block it, and then I'll block this account indefinitely. (talk) 08:31, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Your re-block does not make sense to me user: Qwyrxian, I have made another account so that I could reply on the topgun talk page- as you have seen my reply there. Give me a reference of why you have blocked me??? have I done any other bad edit? I have been told about the issue about the flags and I have understood the matter, there is no point of your block just because your admin does not mean you block someone who is already been blocked.--Shahhh (talk) 10:13, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- As Qwyrxian explain above, I am not an administrator, I only asked on the noticeboard for your edits to be checked and prevented by an administrator. Qwyrxian randomly saw that request and acted upon it, which makes Qwyrxian uninvolved/neutral. As for your edits, I know you are a new editor trying to fit in so I even asked for a second opinion from another editor from Wikiproject Pakistan (as your edits were related to Pakistan related articles). It is for your own benefit that you have been stopped now. You can read WP:SOCK, multiple accounts are not allowed either to trick or to evade a block. I can read your reply here. Do not make more accounts to reply on other pages, first get unblocked from here and then you can do that from this account. Since a block is on a person, not an account... any accounts you will make will also be blocked. Hope you understand it now. If you understand why you were blocked simply use the unblock template as Qwyrxian told you. A second admin will review and unblock or decline. Your block will expire after a few days anyway, the blocks are just preventive, not punitive. If you assure that you will follow up due discussion before making more edits, I'm sure you will be unblocked. --lTopGunl (talk) 10:25, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Shahhh, while I can understand that you might possibly have been confused about the original edits, I simply cannot believe that you could believe it's okay to, after being blocked, make a new account and then keep making the same edits. While we don't usually block people without warning them first, it's just obvious that if you're blocked, you can't just make a new account and keep editing. Also, you didn't just reply to TopGun--you went back and re-added the flags.
- However, even after saying all of that, I am willing to consider unblocking you if the bad behavior will stop. First, before I can do that, I'll need you to explain why you were changing Balochistan to say that it is a "one of the four provinces of Pakistan". ALternatively, as TopGun says, you can ask to have a different (new) admin review your block--just follow the instructions in the red box below, being sure to give a good explanation for why you should be unblocked. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:06, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
User:Qwyrxian , well, I got confused with the Pre-historic Region Balochistan and Pakistan's province Balochistan. On the heading of (region) Balochistan it should mention that this article is about Prehistoric Balochistan and it is very confusing as both Balochistan articles have just Balochistan written on them which can confuse Iranian part of Balochistan and Pakistan Balochistan. The one "Balochistan Article " written on the region (prehistoric) - which atcually is not the same anymore because it has been divided and a part of Balochistan is a province of Pakistan and some part in Iran and they pronounce it as Baluchestan Province . User: Topgun, Yes, now I understand the process , will definitely discuss before making edits. I want to to discuss the issue with Pakistani flag and flags of Pakistani provinces. Is there a need of provincial flag when countries like United Kingdom and India they use their country flag? There is a sense of unity when there is only One flag. --Shahhh (talk) 14:41, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- About you confusing Balochistan region's article with Balochistan, Pakistan, I tried to explain that to you in a warning below. If you see there is a hatnote on the top of Balochistan article that says the article is for the region and you can look at Balochistan (disambiguation) for other uses of Balochistan. Because two articles can not be hosted on the same page technically, when there are two or more subjects with the same name, the more common one gets the actual name and the others get the title with specification in bracket (or with a comma in case of Provinces/cities/towns). Balochistan being a geographical region that over laps Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan gets to have that name - the respective provinces of the countries are titled with their country name and listed on the disambiguation page. --lTopGunl (talk) 18:19, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, Shahhhh, given your comment to TopGun above, I've gone ahead and unblocked you. However, you need to read our policy on edit warring, which will help you avoid this problem in the future--basically, it says that when people disagree about something, they discuss it on article talk pages, not just keep going back and forth trying to force their own way. Also, please note that, per WP:SOCK, you may have only one account on Wikipedia (except in very special cases, which don't seem to apply here). Finally, one last thing: when you're editing articles, like Balochistan, please read them carefully. That article clearly explains how it is different from Balochistan, Pakistan, and a few minutes reading could have prevented the errors on that page. I'll keep watching this page to make sure things are going okay. If you have any questions, please come to my talk page and ask me at any time. Qwyrxian (talk) 21:07, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
User topgun, oky, Thankyou . User Qwyrxian yes I have read, and will read it again to make sure. Thankyou--Shahhh (talk) 08:23, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, that's great. You're unblocked now, so you're free to resume editing. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:03, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Pakistan
[edit]User Topgun There is another issue I want to highlight, mostly all the articles related to Pakistan have " present day - Pakistan" written on them. Well it has already been established that - there is a place called Pakistan after the British raj or British India. The Indian do not use British India in the articles where it should be mentioned British India or British raj, They use INDIA only. We should write Pakistan in the articles confidently, there were so many articles where they have written everything but have not mentioned the location- which I found out it was Pakistan.--Shahhh (talk) 16:57, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'll let Qwyrxian reply to the block. I think you will do very well if you discuss whenever your edits are reverted, like you are discussing now - the world is not going to end and you can finally implement the change after discussion even if it takes a week. I've taken the liberty to move this to a separate section so that your unblock discussion is not hampered. Hope you don't mind that. About the mention of Pakistan, if there is a specific, you can always ask on the talk page of that article, bring it to me or start a thread at Wikiproject Pakistan talkpage where there will be many Pakistani editors to help you understand or make those corrections for you in a correct way. As a general rule, when we talk about a place with reference to a time when Pakistan was not created, we say "British India" (or "Mughal empire"? or whatever that country was at that time) with "Present day Pakistan" in brackets if necessary (see Jinnah's
dateplace of birth on his article for example). When we are talking about an incident that took place after Pakistan was created or about some thing in the present (like Taxila, even though it is historical), we then use "Pakistan" for it. The same thing should be done for India too. Other wise it is incorrect and should be fixed there too - which you can do as well (but with due discussion if reverted). If, for example, Indus valley civilization says it is in "present day Pakistan", that is correct because that civilization was pre-Pakistan and does not exist any more. That is just the correct use of English (or even in Urdu). About the provincial flags, those flags are of provincial governments which means they are Pakistani flags (not the national ones but you can add the national flag in the infobox where it says the province belongs to Pakistan - that would be okay). This is an encyclopedia, so the articles should be providing complete information about the province in question. If some one wants to know about the provincial emblem or flag of Balochistan, they should be able to find it in an encyclopedia, that is positive information. Hope you get my point now. You can disagree with me, but when you do - agree to disagree, and follow up a discussion. I can help you understand the process more and link you to further processes and ways to resolve disagreements. --lTopGunl (talk) 17:30, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
its oky , hmmm oky yes agree..., If I have more questions will ask you for guidance.Thankyou user topgun.

- No problem. --lTopGunl (talk) 18:07, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Flag icons
[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. lTopGunl (talk) 01:49, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
This is your last warning. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Balochistan, you will be blocked from editing without further notice.
Your edits have been automatically marked as vandalism and have been automatically reverted. The following is the log entry regarding this vandalism: Balochistan was changed by Shahhh (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.855301 on 2012-05-20T01:52:28+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 01:52, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Balochistan, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Either you don't understand it or you are doing it on purpose, you are messing up a whole lot of articles without listening to any warnings or advise. Balochistan is not the same as Balochistan, Pakistan. One is about the whole region and the other about the province. lTopGunl (talk) 01:58, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:36, 20 May 2012 (UTC)- Because you created User:Syedjafferi to avoid the block on this account, I have increased your block to 1 week. You are blocked. That means that you may not edit. If you think the block is in error, you may appeal the block as explained in the red box above. Creating a new account to continue the same disruptive behavior is not acceptable. Qwyrxian (talk) 21:13, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Hello! You look like someone who might be interested in joining the Pakistan WikiProject and so I thought I'd drop you a line and invite you! We'd love to have you help us :-) lTopGunl (talk) 21:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC) |
Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm from WikiProject Pakistan. We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Pakistan.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- You can give your input at project's main discussion page and keep it on your watchlist: Wikipedia talk:Notice board for Pakistan-related topics.
- You can !vote and work on saving articles that are up for deletion at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Pakistan.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every Pakistan article in Wikipedia.
- Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.
- Please participate in any of our descendant workgroups that might interest you.
- Add your name in the members at Wikipedia:WikiProject Pakistan/Members. There's also a user box template which you can put on your user page to identify yourself as a member: {{User WikiProject Pakistan}}

It was a False Postive which means there was an error with the anti-vandalsim bot, don't take it personal. Thank you for your feedback and thank you for your contributions! For more help on getting started, please look at Help desk and the help pages.

[edit]If you are interested, you can help in a proposal given at my talk page. This might help you get some understanding of the project when you work in a team with editors of opposing views. Drop me a note if interested. --lTopGunl (talk) 23:28, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Pakistan Article on wikipedia
[edit]I just went through Pakistan Article on wikipedia and it says where there is the Emblem "State Emblem" , Pakistan is a country not some state/Province of a country.
Checkout India http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/India they have not written India as state where it says Emblem.--Shahhh (talk) 12:17, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Want to mention one more thing. In the section Politics, this section is not written in neutral point of view as it is exaggerated as they have shown only the currant government peoples pictures either PM gillani or whoever.. There should be written the history of politics from where it starts briefly and just mention names who become president and PM without exaggeration and In government section should write about how parliament works and about seats and the process. I will also give Indian Wikipedia Article as an example and their section of Politics for right guidance. That is why they are ahead us.--Shahhh (talk) 12:34, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- For the first part, state also means "country" in this case. So that is being used in right context. As for the politics section, you might be right. You should bring this thing up at Talk:Pakistan... all discussions related to Pakistan article take place there; so if you would like to participate in an existing one or start a new, that's the place. I was planing to unwatchlist your page in a few days, so you might want to choose the correct venue next time as you can freely edit now. --lTopGunl (talk) 22:29, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
I am confused on how to start the topic there do I write same as I write here?? --Shahhh (talk) 07:59, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, go to talkpage of any article you want to contribute to and start a new section like you do here and recommend whatever you want. If you want to make edits yourself directly, better try sandbox first and see if they are correctly formatted and then always follow a neutral view, if not sure... ask on that article's talk. --lTopGunl (talk) 08:04, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Oky, thankyou.--Shahhh (talk) 10:54, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:49, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
