Want to join a new WikiProject?

[edit]

You seem to be in the know of Internet culture, particularly YTMND. I was wondering if you'd like to join my new WikiProject, WikiProject Internet pop culture. It'd be great if you joined, as it'd help unite the people who are interested in Internet culture. So, what do you say? MessedRocker 03:31, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Would love to. ShadowMan1od 05:16, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well then, can you add yourself to the list on Wikipedia:WikiProject Internet pop culture?

You gotta get up on the stick!

[edit]

Hey ShadowMan1od, I noticed you and MessedRocker had a great idea for a Wikiproject, but I don't really see anything coming out of it. It appears that you are just watching the YTMND page (which I thank you for), against vandals and other losers. Thanks much for keeping track of the YTMND fads, as that constantly gets out of hand, and its good to have someone such as yourself who has a foot in both worlds. Anywho, I'd love to join, but I'm not sure I know that much about internet pop culture, but if you'd like me to help recruit some people for the project, I'd be more than happy to do so. Please keep up the excellent work at YTMND, and if all internet pop culture articles could be as well maintained and vandal protected as that one is, Wikipedia would be a better place. Thanks again, Mysekurity e-mail 01:14, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I really haven't had the time for the internet in a long time. Next week will be my first free Saturday in two months, so I'll probably be able to do more then. ShadowMan1od 02:15, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, I was just joking around. I can see by your contribs that you havn't been here much, but what you have done is appreciated by me (and I hope the community as a whole). Might you wish to recruit someone in your stead (thanks though, by the way.) Ive checked out your YTMNDs, and I find them rather funny. Good job with that :) -Mysekurity e-mail 02:17, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've never found time for being involved with the project, and I never felt that the project was that active. I decided to visit it, and noticed that it's been going along a lot better than I thought. Since you're probably more involved in it that I am, I've decided to officially withdraw myself from the WikiProject, and leave my director position to you. —THIS IS MESSEDOCKER (TALK) 21:29, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eep! I'll see what I can do. ShadowMan1od 23:18, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lighthouse: The Dark Being

[edit]

Hi, sorry to bother you but the cover art photo you supplied for the article Lighthouse: The Dark Being is not really acceptable because it has logos of another website (MobyGames). It's best to find a photo without any marks on it. Chipmunk01 20:12, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced it with an unmarked version. ( : Chipmunk01 20:20, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Penumbra

[edit]

As per AfD policy, I once again deleted Penumbra. If you want to restore it, please see Deletion review. Andre (talk) 19:47, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here are your comments since I deleted the talk page:

Although there is no single "notable" source that has an article about this game, it's obvious that this game is significant. Gamespot, a major gaming website, went out of its way to interview the developer about the upcoming episodic game. The game has over 220,417 from its mirror own Download.com (and even got a little "Popular <3" tag). This article was deleted before for only being "a student project", but now that it's a commercial product (and has a profile on various large gaming websites), it's fully reasonable that there can be an article on it. If a big game company putting out a press release with no additional info is enough to make a game "notable", then all of that certainly has to be. ShadowMan1od 18:08, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Andre (talk) 19:53, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The distinction is iffy at best. Bring it to deletion review, as I said. Andre (talk) 22:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:HeartOfLabyrinth.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HeartOfLabyrinth.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Speedy deletion of Garry Newman

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Garry Newman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 03:42, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Dreamersguild.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Labytime.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

WikiProject C-SPAN?

[edit]

Greetings fellow Wikipedia editor -

I am leaving you this note because I have reason to believe that you are interested in C-SPAN. (I may have made this assumption based on your C-SPAN user box, or perhaps for some other reason.) If this is not an interest of yours, please feel free to read no further and delete this message.

If you are in fact someone who is interested in C-SPAN, then let me put forward an idea that I have been kicking around for a while. What if we started a C-SPAN WikiProject?

The parameters of this (potential) project are up for discussion, but it could include some or all of the following (as well as things that may occur to you that have not occurred to me):

 • Creation, maintenance, and improvement of articles and lists directly related to C-SPAN and its programming.
 • Use of C-SPAN programming in citations for various topics
 • Inclusion of unique and targeted C-SPAN video links for various articles. (Doing this with respect for established guidelines at Wikipedia:External links.) (Example: If you are interested in the submarine USS Wyoming (SSBN-742), then having easy access to the eight hours of programming taped while a C-SPAN crew were guests on that submarine could also be of interest to you.)
 • Inclusion of (and possible further creation of) templated links such as laurabush, that will easily take article readers to a link of all C-SPAN Video Library links for the person about whom the article is about.
 • What else?

I don't know exactly how far we may want to go, nor in what directions, but I do believe (as I have long noted on my user page) that C-SPAN and Wikipedia are both...

...fantastic vehicles for the free exchange of ideas and information in a non-sound-bite manner, and they both invite the participation of any parties (expert or amateur) who are interested in taking the time to absorb and/or contribute to the ideas and information offered. C-SPAN and Wikipedia go together like peanut butter and jelly, and I want to help give other Wiki users easy access to the great work that C-SPAN has done on a variety of topics.

Now, I should mention that I have never started a WikiProject before, and I do not know the best way to go about it. (Perhaps one of you do?) Let me offer one of my sandbox pages, User:KConWiki/sandbox/Wikiproject C-SPAN?, as a gathering area for comments until such time as we gather enough steam to start our own WikiProject page.

Thanks for reading this far, and I hope that you will give some consideration as to whether this is something we ought to attempt. Please feel free to pass this message on to others you know whom might be interested, and please let me know your thoughts and comments.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
