License tagging for Image:NMA.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NMA.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:10, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NMA.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Venue shot newest.jpg. The copy called Image:Venue shot newest.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. You may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did to Nashville Municipal Auditorium, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

Hi there,

Those links to events that you insist on adding to Nashville Municipal Auditorium don't belong there. The only external links on that page should provide info on the arena, not artists/shows appearing there. Imagine if every article about an arena had links to EVERY show that had ever appeared there. It would be ridiculous! Please view this page: Wikipedia:External links to find out about proper external linking. -NatureBoyMD (talk) 18:31, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I am only show links to current events!

Don't worry...I will remove the links as they are no longer relevant to the venue.

But they aren't relevent now. No one is going to come to Wikipedia to find out who is playing there. Those links are entirly unnecessary. -NatureBoyMD (talk) 19:05, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

You don't know why people are coming to the NMA's page...and therefore they may be interested in current events...besides more information is always better than less...

Did you read the link I gave you about external links? Here it is again: Wikipedia:External links. Pay special attention to #14 here:Wikipedia:External_links#Links_normally_to_be_avoided. That will tell you exactly why those links don't belong. -NatureBoyMD (talk) 19:22, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I read this...and those links meet all of these criteria as listed below:

There are several things that should be considered when adding an external link.

Is it accessible to the reader? Is it relevant to the content of the article (useful, helpful, informative, factual, etc.)? Is it a functional link, and likely to continue being a functional link?

[edit]

I have again trimmed the external links from Nashville Municipal Auditorium. Please do not continue to add them. From the policy page referenced above, "Do not link to sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject: the link should be directly related to the subject of the article." Sites that are about one performance/event at a venue are only indirectly related to the article. Continuing to add them will be construed as vandalism, and could result in a loss of editing privileges. Thanks. Pastordavid (talk) 16:09, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a directory of upcoming events at a local venue. Such information is not encyclopedic, and would not belong in the article -- it also does not belong in the external links section. Please stop, or you will be blocked from editing. Pastordavid (talk) 21:51, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there:

GOOD GRIEF!!!

I really don't understand why you and natureboy are so upset about 5 (count em 5) external links!

Both of you may be complying with the letter of the law with regard to wiki, but you are entirely missing the spirit of the boards (which is to provide unbiased information) with your narrow-minded attitude about the links.

If either of you really understood the history of the Auditorium, you would know that there was considerable discussion 5-10 years ago about closing the facility because it was no longer viable...the links provide evidence that the Auditorium is still providing quality events for the middle Tennessee area.

As a matter of fact, someone wrote the following on wiki in reference to the Auditorium: "It still stands today, but is used primarily for low-profile gatherings." Not true...and the external links prove it!!! Which is why they are relevant and should be listed.

Wiki says: Avoid bias. Articles should be written from a neutral point of view, representing views fairly, proportionately and without bias.

Removing the links supports the bias of the person who is trying to "prove" that the auditorium "...is used primarily for low-profile gatherings." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sh1955 (talkcontribs) 03:18, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted edits on Nashville Municipal Auditorium; Reasons

[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. Although you are welcome to make constructive edits, your rewriting of the lead section in the article Nashville Municipal Auditorium were reverted due to a lack of neutral point of view and sounded like an advertisement, which is not Wikipedia's goals. Please refer to; Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Spam (which also refers to advertisements). Cheers from Leo-Roy! review/gb 05:37, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but you can't remove information from the lead that needs to be there. You replaced the necessary facts about the center's success when facing competition with a center posed to replace it with what? air conditioning? That isn't nearly as important as what was meant to be there! Leo-Roy! review/gb 04:30, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
