In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Sergentkitty, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... I think my page was spotted by bots as an ad because it contains a link to a Youtube video, it says "ad", and I threaten to sue. The video is Wikipedia Foundation's own 'Wikipedia | It's a great feeling' video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St1JN6m0FTI). The joke is that it sounds like an ad, so I am trying out the service based on the promises of that ad. But I obviously do not plan to sue if I don't like Wikipedia, I don't think anyone could have thought I was serious here. Sorry for triggering the alarm with my stupid joke, my first edit was more explosive than I thought it would be... --Sergentkitty (talk) 01:45, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, having a page deleted is not the same thing as being blocked. We get a lot of users that put ads or other promotional material on their user pages, and then contribute nothing else to the encyclopedia. Humor is fine, but it is best to get comfortable with editing first. Feel free to check out any of the links in my first message, or ask questions at the Teahouse. Thank you for your message, it's a light in the dark. OK to start with edits, and then create a presentation of myself. Sergentkitty (talk) 02:06, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user page guideline might help. Huntthetroll (talk) 02:18, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was working on the article Elvis impersonator, can I keep on editing it?

Information icon Hello, I'm Partey Lover. I noticed that you recently removed content from Tom Jones impersonator without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hello. I understand that Wikipedia is a strict editorial environment, but maybe double-check things before deleting everything I do would help too. You say I removed 'New Zealand singer Bunny Walters who died in 2016 has been referred to as the Maori Tom Jones.' without adequately explaining why. Come on, my edit comes with a very explicit and accurate comment 'this page is about impersonators, not people tagged as local Tom Jones'. Can you please explain what is not adequately explained here, and why was my edit wrong? Sergentkitty (talk) 02:35, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
