There is now an active WP:Mediation Cabal case to resolve whether or not the "criticisms" in the TechCruch article should or should not remain. As one of the editors participating in the matter, you are invited to help in the resolution. For more info please follow above links. Wikidemo 03:10, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Augmented Reality
[edit]Hey there I am wondering why you thought my addition of the Careers section was "Advertising." Nothing was getting advertised; the citation was legitimate and objective, not to mention the first article that popped up on Google when I searched for something that was clearly missing from the entry. Thanks. 12.49.220.49 (talk) 21:42, 21 September 2010 (UTC)JoshAnish
Hi. I am also wondering why you did not accept any of my added information. The information was relevant and not advertising. Augmented Reality is expanding and different applications are being lunch, such as broadcast TV. If you are also taking care of not promoting another company, then there is a company mentioned in Augmented Reality that should not be there for the same reasons you have deleted my addition. I hope you can clarify this to me if I am missing something. Barb219 talk 15:04, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Barb219
Hi. AR article is turning to garbage without constant pruning. There is a lot of companies doing AR, and all the time ppl affiliated with them or simply impressed put them into article. Those mentions are neither informative nor useful. Non of those companies have unique groundbreaking tech, their methods are trivial and not novel. One representative for all of them, like wikitude, wich historically was one of the first, is enough. I would also remove Nintendo 3DS, Sony PSP etc, but I' may be in minority there. At least those are big name and have some notability. Small companies have near zero notability. If you want you can create specific article "companies doing AR, but main AR article is not a place for them. Main article is about technology and understanding, not business opportunities. BTW, FYI, planar markerless tracking was around for ages. The only real recent tech advance in AR was PTAM Serg3d2 (talk) 15:55, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi Serg3d2, I'd like to know why you classify my supporting a broader definition of AR as WP:SPAM!? It's a clearly referenced article that is not selling or promoting anything other than the discussion of the broader definition of AR. Steve Mann and other have clearly positioned Mediated Reality as a superset of AR...but there is definitely more discussion needed on this topic. The current "live direct or indirect" definition of AR is really limited and a bit naive. So...I'd like to hear a clear argument from you as to why my contribution was spam, otherwise I believe I'm justified in reverting it. 1. Referencing your own or affiliated site in the edit *is* spam
2. Wiki article is not a place for discussion. There is a separate "discussion" page for it.
3. There was a lot of discussion on AR definition without any conclusive consensus. Because there is no consensus and no mediation definition should be left as is.
4.Change was too big, too drastic, not concise and in bad stile.
5.Article it referenced is not notable. It doesn't authored by recognized expert in the field
6.This article is under constant barrage of spam/astroturfing. That make any change like 3. suspect.
7.In the future I recommend start with "talk" page. I wouldn't recommend unilateral actions or edit war. In case of conflict I recommend search mediation instead.Serg3d2 (talk) 10:33, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
PS If you want discuss AR definition I suggest to do it on AR discussion page: | AR talk link Serg3d2 (talk) 11:11, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
