Can you believe it has been one year since I started Liberian National Museum ‎ . I've just been checking last year to see what I was doing and I can't believe it was a year ago!! Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:01, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, back at work? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:39, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

O OK when you get back I could sure use some help with List of German Christian Democratic Union politicians! Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:06, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The mind blowing thing is that there are actually 96 or so parties on Germany and this is only one party, and many others also have 3,000 missing articles! I think only the main parties though have this number. I think I'll make a few more lists of politicians for Germany maybe a nav templates and copy the lists onto here. At least then after the lot we know that we have most of the important biographies started on here. I've gone off just editing geo articles for the moment, I've spent the last year or so working on them, next few months I think I'll concentrate on transwikiying a variety of articles from other wikis and creating missing lists, as well as getting the Italian films I wanted to put onto here. I'll still continue with municipalities every now and then Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:16, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I created an innovative looking template Template:Germany-CDU-politician-stub Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:19, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You know that wikipedia is developing into something extraordinary when you can write a full and well referenced article about Oliver Cromwell's head. LOL. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:15, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes a joke? What does that tell you about the people who use this site. I felt like walking out early and placing a retired tag on my user page as at times I cannot see the reasoning on here or how this fan cruft can be considered even remotely encyclopedic. Everything about such articles indicates this site is run and written by children. I see some people be very strict over actual real world likely notable articles but people seem to gladly welcome utter crap on here like this. Really sad. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:58, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, that beef sandwich looks yummy! Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:04, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yum!! OI get back 'ere I needs your help with Germans! Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:30, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have fun. I'm just expanding a few Alaskan national refuges up to DYKs, nice scenery!Dr. Blofeld (talk) 17:54, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oi Herring! Have a nice break? I'm currently sorting out Greek settlements. Let me know if you wanna help. Some can be done by AWB I think. We need to empty Category:Cities and towns in Greece and order by prefecture. 1200 or so to sort through.I've set up the initial regions at Category:Cities, towns and villages in Greece and have done one Category:Cities, towns and villages in the Ionian Islands by prefecture. I'll set up the prefecture cats gradually rather than all as I did before in one go, this way I can work through in stages and not feel under pressure.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 22:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi- Just wanted to let you know that these categories were tagged by AWB as "Templates" and not "Categories" for WikiProject Sweden. See diff: [1] I've updated them manually, so that they are placed into Category:Category-Class Sweden articles. I don't know if I missed anything else that got tagged incorrectly, if you could check it out, that would be great. Thanks! --Funandtrvl (talk) 21:52, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please wait until I've created the page before you edit it. All of my work was lost with the time I spent due to your speedy edits. Would you like to create pages for all of the house museums in Connecticut not in wikipedia?

apology accepted. funny thing is that this house was built back in 1664. it's been a museum ever since president taft opened it in 1897. its been listed on the nrhp since god knows when. just never had a wiki page. i'm building the list of oldest buildings in connecticut, which there are dozens before 1700. i'd just rather see the new page added and let the ink dry before it's edited Tomticker5 (talk) 19:53, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you enhoyed yourself. I've just had a hair shearing. By hair was starting to look like Dirty Harry or Ace Ventura LOL. It starts to look like File:Harry Callahan.JPG when it gets too long and thick. Haven't quite gone for the bald look though LOL but my head feels considerably lighter! I guess i should be counting my blessings that I have a thick head of hair as it seems most guys in the Cardiff area are baldies or have very short hair.

Probably the best way to do it would be to go through each of the Category:Greece prefecture templates and AWB all articles withint each one using the relative category. Cities and towns in Greece though will have to be rmeoved, probably a lot will need doing manually I fear. I can create the new prefecture categories for them all if you want, its up to you. Dr. Blofeld (talk) 15:14, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK cats have all been started, computer problem should be fixed too! Good luck with the dentist, I hate the dentist!! Dr. Blofeld (talk) 16:07, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stilll having firefox problem it keeps crashing all the time!Dr. Blofeld (talk) 12:59, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Computer permitting I'm gonna create those structure templates for African countries. A step in the right direction for buildings in Africa I think. Once you have add the main categories I wonder it would be possible to empty Category:Cities and towns in Greece but recategorise. I have a feeling I may need to do it manually to resort them. Yikes.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 13:35, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah thats why I decided to tackle it as it was a blinkin' ole mess. Villages categorized as cities and towns etc some not evne categorized. Especially for Greece categories by island group or area is very much needed.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 13:58, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, many thanks. There were 1200 in that category initially. There are also a number of other old categories like Category:Cities and towns in Crete that will need sorting, those I think I can manage manually,Dr. Blofeld (talk) 14:03, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was referring to Category:Cities and towns in Crete.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 14:47, 15 May 2009 (UTC) I'll remove what I can now a lot of them have indeed been categorised just a case of rmeoving the double cat and nuking it!Dr. Blofeld (talk) 14:52, 15 May 2009 (UTC) Mmm I think it may have to be done manually see this. A lot of them need removing the generic prefecture category too. The fact that these article are so inconsistent makes AWB on them quite difficult i think.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 14:57, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey if you can solve it by that I'll leave it! The articles in Category:Ierapetra also need tagging with Category:Cities, towns and villages in the Lasithi Prefecture. Keeping the local cat as well though should be OK.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 15:10, 15 May 2009 (UTC) Also Category:Megalopoli. Category:Villages in the Arcadia prefecture can be directly AWB'd of course. In fact there appears to be lots of sub cats where the local cat is fine but the villages are not categories by cities, towns and villages in the wider area. One wonders how many articles we actually have on places in Greece! The Megalopoli cat is fine the article wthin it though just needed adding the prefecture cities cat.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 15:22, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. I'll categorise all those lists now by the prefecture settlement cats.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 15:27, 15 May 2009 (UTC) Oh could you? That would be great its hard work doing it manually. If you could get all of the lists in Category:Communities of Greece to appear in the relative setltement category at the top though of couse like Category:Cities, towns and villages in the Chalkidiki Prefecture this would be great. Oh another thing can you move all of the lists so the Prefecture in the title has a capital letter in relation to the categories. This is nearly one big problem over and done with. Phew! The category system was definately one of the wost I've come across out of all the countries I've tackled so far, the worst though goes to Israel and the weird system of settlement ordering. You remember I did "try" to begin sorting it but I was quickly yelled at.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 15:35, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. When I see the way that some of the villages on some of the Greek islands have been covered it does give me some hope that some day we may have a "full" coverage of most countries even if the articles are stubs or are rather short or have problems. It still gives us something to work on. Just sometimes it makes the cleanup job a big task! I still think the best way to have done it would be with Fritz's bot. It is now almost exactly a year ago since the proposal and by now we could have had articles on all these places started worldwide and be working towards building them up. It is inevitable that we will get there evnetually its just the whole process will be so much less efficient and disorganised and uneven, For instance the French communes should have been started by a bot!!Dr. Blofeld (talk) 15:47, 15 May 2009 (UTC) Well somebody recently asked Fritz to restore the old project for reference purposes. I'm not sure what the general consensus is but it seemd a lot of people would be very happy to see such a bot running evne if around 25% of people hated the idea. The main problem of course was getting enough data to start them in a decent way rather than over a million one liners with nothing was ... is a village in bla bla. etc. One could argue agianst it because it would "flood" the encyclopedia with zillions of temporaily useless stubs but in the long term, real long term if wikipedia is here to stay and we are serious about "the sum of all knowledge" then the idea would seem suitable as it would drmatically reduce the inefficiencies in the way the articles are started, The major problem though was getting enough people to expand them and find information. A lot of people have neglected the ones evne on places in the U.S, imagine how they would treat articles on villages in the Congo for instance.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 16:01, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree completely. The project of course would have also been dedicated to improving and standardising existing articles on world settlements too, adding references, population data, infoboxes and sorting cateogries you know like I've been doing manually for the last two years, I think its a shame that it nothing came of it as it had a lot of potential and it would have placed a solid foundation for world places. If some else was willing to restart the project I would jump at the chance. The project would have worked on countries where data is currently available. Bulgaria for one has information on every village as do many other countries in places like Belarus etc or at least which can be extracted from other wikipedias. I am certain we could come up with somethign adequate and which would initially be of some use not to mention being zillions of times more efficient and provide a foundation to build upon but sadly I am useless when it comes to bots and coding otherwuse I would be running it myself! We could still scout around for some new bot coders. I'd like to get somebody to do Bulgaria for instance, plus most of the villages have half decent articles on Bulgarian wiki. Dr. Blofeld (talk) 16:35, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This site is becoming a BEAST! Just been browsing. ON Azeri wikipedia check out this. 3555 articles on Azerbaijani films. One cannot imagine just how many millions of articles we will have eventually.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 20:04, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah the funny thing is imdb which is supposed to be a world database on films onlylists 81!. But then again practically nothing exists on the web on Azeri villages either yet we boht "know" that information exists within Azerbaijan! I think I know where Borat got his inspiration fromDr. Blofeld (talk) 20:14, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you could create a category for American colonial painters? Hey I've been doing more browsing and found this a site which has 4000 biographies on notable Chinese people like this,Dr. Blofeld (talk) 21:58, 15 May 2009 (UTC) Phew. Not too good on here, in general fine!. I've started making Wikipedia:WikiProject Uzbekistan/Provincial templates anyway using a "Bondi blue" furnishing to emulate the flag. Hopefully we can get the main districts and towns started over the next few days. I still want to start those truckloads of politicians of course, too much to do!Dr. Blofeld (talk) 21:02, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've also asked John Carter to read it. Perhaps leave any suggestions on the talk page of the article. I know its probably not your subject, but I'm looking more for any obvious copy editing/MOS issues that you can find when reading it as in a week or two I'm going to take it to FAC. Its not easy writing an FA standard article about a glossy subject such as Bollywood! Let me know.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 17:00, 19 May 2009 (UTC) Mwwwoaaahaha. Evil signature is back. Hey I hope to FAC Kareena Kapoor in a few days. I need some fresh eyes to look at it, unfortunately a lot of the old copyeditors are no longer with us. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Of course the article needs work, but English is not my native (I'm Silesian) and my main activity here is adding interwikis. Only sometimes I'm trying to add an article, like Hujowa Górka, when I think the topic is interesting and original. There are plenty of sources in English about Hujowa Górka: [2], [3], [4], [5]. If you use any search engine, you will find even more. This place and its story was also showed in Spielberg's Schindler's List. I will apreciate if you clean up and expand this article. Can you, please?

Proposed deletion of Mari Aakre

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mari Aakre, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Absolutely no content, references, or rational for notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Human.v2.0 (talk) 01:18, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please, don't give me the response of "rubbish" on a one-line article that you created and then left alone for over six months. That is both pathetic and worthless to Wikipedia as a whole. The whole point of my placing the tag there and then one here is to get someone who might know something about this individual off their ass. Now add a reference or I seriously will take it to AfD. --Human.v2.0 (talk) 14:32, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I knew it wasn't far away. It is amazing how different the city looks from pretty much the rest of the American cities. It seems to be basically a political/insitutional centre. It seems to look (by google map anyway) to be markedly different from other cities, it semes much more conservative and classy! NYC is the economic capital of the states and Los Angeles the Entertainment capital and D.C the politicial capital. Would you agree? Dunno where that puts Chicago or Miami though? Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:34, 10 June 2009 (UTC) Some of the civil buildings actually remind me of an area of Cardiff where my dad used to work in Cardiff City Hall and where I studied for a short period at Cardiff Law School. Yes it looks much more traditional city than the typical skyscrapers you see in NYC and Chicago. I was going to say Miami is probably the drugs capital I wasn't sure about Chicago though. When I was in Miami I witnessed an armed robbery back in 1992!! DOn't know if you've been to Miami but a lot of people seme to drive A-Team type vans in that city kind of like Chevrolet Van, well they did back then anyway! I rememebr stopping at an All you can eat restaurant called Sadies in FLorida for $1.99 and the meal was HUGE!! Oh yeah and Nashville the (country music capital). A tag has been placed on Helle Aan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. NRHP query

[edit]

Well, if your state doesn't offer the forms online your best bet is NPS Focus, which is a project still in progress and it doesn't have everything up yet. Just taking a look at the site myself and I did a query on Alexandria then picked a random result, in this case Gerald R. Ford House, and it had the full record including the NRHP nomination form. If you can't find what you're looking for there, you can always write into the NRHP and request copies of the nomination forms for the properties you are researching. They generally provide them free of charge, assuming you don't request the entire library I suppose.--IvoShandor (talk) 05:16, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Really it depends on when the nomination was done. Most of the district nomination forms I have that are recent (say about 1995 and later) are very detailed. Older ones, not so much. They almost always include a list of key structures in the district, and that usually has at least some details (yes, at times, very sketchy). Pre-1980 forms are the worst, they don't have a lot of detail, and they don't spell out which properties are contributing and which are non. Post 1980 NRHP noms always at least note the non-contributing structures in a district. Gotta love bureaucracy. --IvoShandor (talk) 07:17, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Naming quesiton

[edit]

I'd like your opinion on this Category name "Islam-related violence in the Unites States."

  • "I think Category:Islam-related violence in the United States probably should be renamed in some fashion, as it is rather ambiguous. My first thought was that it was meant for attacks directed at Muslims or Islamic sites. Needless to say, that's not at all how it's being used. Cgingold (talk) 10:00, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Just to be clear, I don't have a real problem with the category itself. The problem, as I said, is that the name you gave it is quite ambiguous, since it can easily be construed as referring to Muslims as victims rather than as perpetrators. That distinction is what needs to be clarified. Cgingold (talk) 13:33, 11 June 2009 (UTC)" I do see User:Cginggold's point. Reply, I htink, to the talk page of the category.Historicist (talk) 13:38, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"perpetrated by Muslims" is very problematic. A Muslim could pick up a pistol and rob a gas station just because he's a crook. This category has to be limited ot crimes inspired by teh political, nationalistic, or religious ideologies associated with the Islamic/Arab cultures.Historicist (talk) 13:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Category:Ideologically motivated attacks in the United States perpetrated by Muslims"?Historicist (talk) 14:02, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you think we need to. ON the other hand, no one is objecting. In general, I think we have too many discussions. I would simply be bold and move the page. But , I bow to your judgment and experience.Historicist (talk) 14:15, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Would you be able to also set up a sub-category for Ideologically motivated attacks in the United States perpetrated by Muslims in new York. It is the first state with a substanial number of such crimes.Historicist (talk) 15:14, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "I believe the category could possibly benefit from a more specific title but I'm not sure if editors would accept "Islamic Terrorism in the United States" as a subcategory of "Islamic Terrorism." I believe it would be more accurate to use the word terrorism though. ShamWow (talk) 20:17, 11 June 2009 (UTC)"Historicist (talk) 20:24, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
" "Islamic Terrorism in the United States" is both accurate and parsimonious. What do you think?Historicist (talk) 20:24, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. So, let's go ahead with the change as planed.Historicist (talk) 20:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oaxaca

[edit]

Hey fella! Can you make sure the reference links match up. Every one I start I have to change the number to 302, 303 , 304 etc. If you started with z it will probably be 570 odd. Can you google find the exact page and add the code and then decrease the number working backwards? Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:01, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah that way I directly retrieve the data when I go through afterwards and not have to worry about finding the correct link. That is why I'm going through in order! Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:03, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yep check out my edit to Zimatlan, the last on the list. The code link is 570. So then it will be 569, 568 etc wroking backwards. I've done 320 anyway so far. Occassionally there is a disruption to the pattern so I just check the links before saving. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:07, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder how long it will take to ensure all 570 look like Abejones? BTW can you WikiProject Mexico|class=stub them? Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:33, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Thanks. I'm about a quarter the way through adding details. I'm not exactly working die hard I'm doing them in clumps (of the Professor Clump variety). Oaxaca was the biggest missing one so at least they are now started. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:43, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Man I loathe "adore" editors like this who spend all their time on here fussing at ANI and arbitration just to get some attention. They do nothing to edit the encyclopedia and seem to not be aware of what this site is really about. It is a shame that some people think we are here to discuss disputes rather than actually edit and improve an encyclopedia and enjoy reading it. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:50, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah some people seme to intentionally get themselves into conflicts and have people report them so they can get some attention. It's a rainy day here, so I'll be plodding on with those Mexican stubs filling them, I've done 200 so far so I'll get maybe another 100 done today. I'll probably start a few more Honduran parliament members later too. Have fun! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:04, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Challenge: Fill Category:Tokelau stubs up to 60 to prevent it being deleted! Reckon you can find 40 odd stubs to create on Tokelau? You did say you liked Oceania! Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:00, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I'll leave a notice as the deletion page. Whether it is politicians/mayors, churches, hotels, mayors, villages or whatever I'm sure you could fill it and Tokelau sounds interesting! I'll see if I can also add a few later but I'm plagued with Mexican municipalities at present! Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:03, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Churches Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:05, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dunno its pretty tiny being only 10 square kilometres! Well we can do it with Gibraltar and this is bigger! Quite a challenge! Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:11, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've done half of it. You can find a lot of names and islands they represent at [6]. Representtives of the Parliament of Tokelau. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll concentrate on the geography. I think I can stub a few more atolls and using the maps creating a few stubs on villages on the Tokelau islands. My mum and dad are headed towards Tahiti at present so it is quite topical! Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:00, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well I've created Fakaofo (village). I'll leave it to you now. Even if we pass 60 I think I'll create a few more just to blow the deletion proposal to smithereens! Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool 70 that'll do, thanks. This morning I started all of the museums in Bonn including the birthplace of Beethoven. Hopefully German translatros will come across them soon. Speaking classical I'm off to practice me neo classical scale on the guitar. I'm really into classical music at present. My favourite is Bach type music in Harmonic minor, particulary in E flat. It sounds awesome on the electric guitar! See you a little later! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:11, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be interested in helping me with Central American buildings. If you see Category:Central American building and structure stubs the coverage is so poor. My aim will be to create 60 stubs for each of the Central American countries starting with {{Guatemala-struct-stub}}. There are likely tons of churches/markets notable buildings which can be started.

Well I'll be working through it over the next few days. If you think about how many towns and cities are in these countries it seems ridiculous that we only have a few articles on buildings within them all. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:40, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I mean. There are near enough 60 lighthouses in Panama alone! Right I have 40 articles to create for Guatemala now. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:59, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coincidentally that's what I'm working on at the mo! Thanks for finding that info though! Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:26, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Phew this is hard going. 46 down. 14 to go. Check out Xocomil. A water mark in the form of a Mayan pyramid. Looks great fun! It is amazing what you can find on flickr even in the "creative commons waste paper bin" as I think of it. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:05, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll go back and add the external site links are maybe a little info now don't worry, it got me over the 60 mark. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:52, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Universidad Mesoamericana any better? Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:21, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Phew I'll call it a day now I think. Only I could go from an article on a Guatemalan theme park to a Yemeni stew in a short period of time! I was thinking more Belize actually. Get the more difficult one out of the way first. Don't know if we'll be able to hit 60 with Belize we'll see. Dr. Blofeld White cat 23:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Grant murphy

[edit]

You recently tagged Grant murphy under G1, which is a reasonable, but not the best choice, since G1 is for patent nonsense. While the contents of the article seemed like nonsense, someone could still figure out what the message was. This means that it does not qualify under either of the Patent Nonsense criteria. But hey, an ignore all rules delete under G1 wouldn't leave anyone upset either. --Patar knight - chat/contributions 02:36, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please help with new editor

[edit]

Silk Route Museum has president and founder Mei Ping Wu. Other editor says being president and founder of Silk Route Museum and president of Yasheng Group, largest agrictultural company in China is "not notable". What achievements would make Mei Ping Wu article notable? I met her selling art and wanted to find out information about her and the museum, but nothing was on Wikipedia, so I started articles hoping others would add information. But they want to delete articles because China and top founders and presidents are "not notable". What is "notable"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChinaUpdater (talkcontribs) 18:15, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I'll add ten now, split it! I'll probably take a break from it tomorrow and continue with Nicaragua on Monday. I've still got those Mexican municips to sort out. Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:07, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm done for tonight. Too much traffic around on a Saturday night with new page patrollers tagging and all that within 10 seconds of posting. Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:48, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well I've got it to 50, finding an abundance of information for one building seems to be pretty tough for Belize though. Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:57, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haven't much energy tonight. I've requested to borrow the Costa Rica eyewitness guide from my sister anyway so at least that book should have more info. Might want to search under google books on belize see if it has more info on places in any books too. Dr. Blofeld White cat 23:04, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It must be the clarityn tablets as the last few days I've felt really drowsy and had a splitting headache. Add to that the close temperature and I don't have any energy! Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. I've got the Costa Rica book, sometime this week I'll continue.providing I have the energy and my eyes don't feel like lead! Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LOL that wasn't a hint! Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:18, 23 June 2009 (UTC) Wow check out the size of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia! Dr. Blofeld White cat 23:27, 23 June 2009 (UTC) Check out this. In the last two days I've also had people from Libya and Turkmenistan on here thank me so gradually as the developing world gain access to the web the more they access wikipedia. I definately thik in the long term it is worth creating stubs on these places as soon enough native wikipedias will have decent articles on them. We just need to find a way to effectively unite all the wikipedias and transfer information more efficiently. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:26, 24 June 2009 (UTC) Yeah the fact that there are actually people from these countries on here is something but it can only increase in the future. Like this, really makes it worthwhile. Thats what keeps me excited about the project is that the potential is endless given its global scope. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:03, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image issue

[edit]

I would just mark it no source ({{nsd}}), which would get it deleted sooner or later. I agree it is based on the same portrait, esp judging by the identical folds in the scarf. There's no sense keeping a crappy duplicate version. It's also possible that it's a more modern drawing based on the old portrait in which case there could be copyright issues. Iran

[edit]

Phew! I've tranferred all the templates to Wikipedia:WikiProject Iran/Provincial templates. Now how do I get them to translate into english? Perhaps if I'm gutsy and put them out there in the articles some Iranian wikipedians will thinks eeks and translate them? A bit of extortion may do the trick I think. The templatesd are good because the content on Farsi wikipedia can then just be started in english. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:55, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll "spam" a few Iranian active wikipedians and try my luck. Somebody has filled out my Chinese and Bulagrian provine templates so I anticipate these will be a success eventually especially if I put them in the articles for people to see. Unfortunately the new google translate is still very poor for Persian and is only good for numbers. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:03, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Its brand new actually, see the link I posted to Jen. Seems google think iran is finally a country to ge tinformation from given the recent protests. Iran ALWAYS seems to be in the news for something Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:10, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I didn't see it on the news though, I only saw it on your talk page! Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:15, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Watch extremely little TV these days, only to watch the tennis/sports events or the occasional Jonathan Ross show or documentary. I even watch most of my DVDS on the PC these days, better picture. Internet is much better for news I think. Been busy last few days so didn't notice the event. A lot of accidents seem to be because the authorities cna't be bothered to spend money to update them. Same with old oil tankers they keep using. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:25, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Weird thing is that I watched my first Michael Jackson video on youtube yesterday "Beat It" in ages and then he sudden'y died! Bit suspcious dying of a heart attack at just 50 if it is fit person not an obese one. ALmost always drug related and major stress, probably both. I know he was addicted to painkillers for years Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:41, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well all his life he has always wanted to please people, partly due to his father beating him if he didn't meet expectations and is whole life was based around his fans. Not too hard to imagine that the prospect of doing 50 concerts took its toll on him and the pressure to not disappoint his fans despite the fact he was really over the hill in his career. Not to certain it was suicide related but I think its clear he was taking something to deal with the stress and prospect of it. He was a sick man throughout his career, to be honest I had expected a suicide or some bizarre ending back in 1990ish. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:58, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I agree. I still think he was a genuinely good person inside and a very talented one despite the major problems as allegations he faced. Just very naive and insecure. Hey I've started a few more Costa Rican meaty stubs today, only 12 more to create now! Next will be the Metropolitan Cathedral of San José! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:07, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did but I deleted a few for questionable notability. 57 is pretty much there. I'm taking advatnage of the Costa RIcan book while I have it though as my sister took the Moroccan book back when I wasn;t looking and I still had a ton of articles to create using it as a source! Perhaps some hospitals in Belize? Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:20, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My next source will be this Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:14, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Phew its been too hot here over the weekend to do any serious editing. When the weather is hot and humid I can't concentrate as much as it is when cold! When your legs stick to the chair lol. Hey if you are here and feel up to it can you project tag the articles created by Passportguy with WikiProject Iran|class=stub? Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Where did you go on Saturday? Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:08, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great find! I'll see if Chanakal can help out. Actually I think I'll make a start on them now. I still have those German and Honduran ones to start not to mention resuming with Costa Rica and Nicaragua but what the heck! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:49, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I don't know what the naming scheme is. Does it refer to there last anem or is Abdul Cader his normal two names or do we use the full name or what? Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:53, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah i know, what I mean is do we use the full name in the article title or do we shorten it to Abdul Cader etc Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:03, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also look what I found here Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:10, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hokay I've made Template:Parliament of Sri Lanka. If you start any can you starg them like John Amaratunga. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:42, 1 July 2009 (UTC) No rush, I'm watching the tennis at the moment in the heat!! I believe there at least 2 editors from Sri Lanka who have added most of the ones we had previously so with a bit if collaboration should get done quicker. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:34, 1 July 2009 (UTC) Nearly 90 degrees here, even hotter in London and southeast. We're in the middle of a heat wave at the mo this week. Just went up to my attic bedroom to get something and it is at least 20 degrees hotter than down here!! Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:11, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Emailed. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:01, 1 July 2009 (UTC) According to an update of User:Bryan/List of users by pages created dated April you've created 15,000 pages! I've added a lot of articles since, the Mexican ones and buildings etc so mine should just be over 50,000 now. I was right then in my estimates. Between us 65,000 articles, very impressive! Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC) Really? Wow I may caught Kotbot again (he cheats though!). So betwene us that's nearer 75,000 then. So about 1 in every 50 wikipedia articles was created by us it seems. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:02, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That would be over 100,000? Well when we hit 3,000,000 article 100,000 would be 1 in 30. Tall order! I really just wish I knew how to run bots otherwise I'd get stuff onto here at 10 times the pace and unlike other bot runners I would be consistent. I struggle to do as much as I can to make the step towards covering the world fairly and evenly but if a high number of people are only interested in US sitcoms and Family Guy it aint gonna work!! Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:59, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The fact I'm now on auto-patrol rather than JV bot means that every I article I create it it is automatically marked as patrolled by myself. This will help the cause of generating articles quickly anyhow. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:31, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I asked for it ages ago but it was a long time coming. Dunno, maybecause even JV bot was tired of having to patrol me LOL so they just me have my freedom to create any article and have it self patrolled. At least it shows that a group of people who authorised it can see what I am trying to do on wikipedia and are happy with it. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:35, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was when the white list was drawn up. I'm sure it had something to do with User:JVbot. Maybe ask the operator. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:40, 1 July 2009 (UTC) If you wer eon the white list you should have it like me. Check in your preferences, it should say auto reviewer on privelages, if not see Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autoreviewer Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:29, 2 July 2009 (UTC) Allouville-Bellefosse -its getting there! Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:57, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Passportguy has finished Ardabil province anyway. I may have to postphone my new article spree there is so much work needing doing with sorting out our crappy municpality stubs on Spain, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil with infoboxes and basics that its gonna take a long time to sort out! Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:09, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I thought we finished Turkey? Bingöl isn't categorised by province? Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:06, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just the Iranian villages I think - oh no actually I stubbed loads of Brazilian rivers the other night, they need tagging for Brazil and Rivers. I do hope our passport friend hasn't been scared off editing wikipedia as we need him!! I took for granted the Czech municipalities had been started by Darwinek, most are missing! Tomorrow I'll continue with Costa Rica while I have the book and fill in a few more Mexican municipalities me thinks. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:24, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Such is often the case that people neglect their proposals. The first four states of Template:Rivers in Brazil. Happy editing Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:50, 5 July 2009 (UTC) Nope, tis OK for now. You have enough to do anyway! Still ned some help though with the Sri Lankan politicians.[reply]

LOL OK then, that should boost your article count quickly anyway! I'll start List of festivals in Costa Rica Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:36, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
