Character info on Legend of the Seeker

[edit]

Hey, your additions to the Legend of the Seeker are very good, but the amount of content is kinda getting out of hand. Consider creating a separate article, List of Legend of the Seeker characters, and keeping only global and series wide info on the main page. Perhaps take a look at List of Stargate SG-1 characters and other character lists for some good examples of character lists. As for sources, citing an episode is perfectly acceptable, you can use {{Template:Cite episode}} for that. I'm not going to remove your edits as I don't mind it that much, but others might find it too excessive. Thanks for you contribution in any case. Xeworlebi (tc) 02:43, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well I was thinking it'd be something a little fun and to update the characters stories as the season progresses, I'm not meaning any harm. XSeekeroftruth469
I don't think you mean harm and I have no problem with that – at all. But the cast and character section is now getting as long as the rest of the article combined. With your most recent edit, I'm starting to find it a little too much myself. I think a split off into a separate article is the best option. I watch the show but I have a terrible memory, you seem to know the story pretty good and are probably a better judge to choose what to include and what not if it gets split off into a separate article. I've added a split request on the page, I don't want to remove it because I think it's good. Don't see it as me not liking your work, it deserves its own article. Xeworlebi (tc) 03:21, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, see I just joined Wikipedia recently and...as embarrassing to admit as it is, I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs and actually don't know how to make a seperate article. I would though. XSeekeroftruth469
Nothing to be embarrassed about, we've all been there. WP:CREATE is a good starting place, there is even a wizard if you want to use it: WP:WIZ2. In this case you can just click the red link in the split request and it presents you with an empty editing page.
Besides this discussion but to sign your posts you just have to type ~~~~ at the end of your comment (I guess you don't use it considering the X in-front of your name and the missing timestamp.), it automatically adds your name and timestamp when you submit. You might want to take a look at WP:INDENT for indentation in a conversation, it helps to keep everything clear. Xeworlebi (tc) 03:43, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway what I said was that a currently unknown actress will be taking Jolene Blalock's place as Nicci. I am aware of Jolene's popularity and was not talking about her. :) But yeah once the new actress is revealed I will place her name next to Jolene Blalock's in the character info for Nicci. A recurring character is a fictional character, usually in a prime time TV series, who appears from time to time during the series' run. That does not include guest characters who only appear for an episode or two. 76.102.12.35 (talk) 02:02, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And your talking like they wont show up again. I tell you now, the definition on this site doesnt have any set length of episodes a character needs to be recurring. The recurring character is based more on their role in the episodes they are in. All those you are trying to delete match the bill and have heavily impacted the main characters. You know what? Call an admin on me please...I don't like getting into edit wars and we should let an admin resolve this. You get one because I am going to be offline for awhile Seekeroftruth469 (talk) 02:05, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a source that someone else is going to play Nicci's part? If so you should add those sources when adding such information. Without a proper source to back it up it's just speculation and not relevant. Talking about future events should always be well sourced. Xeworlebi (tc) 06:07, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Legend of the Seeker. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Xeworlebi (tc) 02:38, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah? Well tell that to the person I'm in a war with as well. she/He's deleting characters from the page claiming they arent recurring when I know they are. I'm trying to preserve the article and he/she is the one messing with it. Nobody made a big deal out of characters who have only been in two episodes so far being in the recurring section but the other person. Now when my 24 hour period is up I'm putting those characters back. I'm not trying to cause the disruption. I posted a new character he/she goes all "not recurring" and deleted like 4 characters that were just fine there. I'm sorry but it's ridiculous. I contribute, all he/she does is undo stuff thats just fine as is. I'm sorry if I caused an inconveniance, I am not a trouble maker, I'm just more than frustrated at this person.Seekeroftruth469 (talk) 04:58, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I did. This is just a standard template, don't take it personal or as a disapproval of your additions. WP:3RR has few exceptions, but this is a content dispute, what you call relevant he/she thinks isn't. And what you "know" isn't a real good argument. Try adding some episode references, it will surly help in your favor. If you disagree with someone you should try to contact them on their talk page, or one the articles talk page, when the user is unresponsive try requesting help from others who already added to the page. If the it's blatant vandalism (which is not the case here) the you can report that after sufficient warning given.
I still believe that splitting this of into List of Legend of the Seeker characters is the best options, and to keep only the main cast with basic info about them on the current page and move the recurring cast and extra character info there. This would help on your end, as more users would be inclined to accept more minor characters and guest stars with more info about them on the page. I don't really have a problem with your additions, but others clearly have. Splitting the article will give you more freedom. And don't forget to add some sources, an episode as a source is perfectly acceptable. Xeworlebi (tc) 06:07, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I still plan to make another article, detailing in extreme detail the characters progress through the series. My opponent is being stubborn and refusing to compromise so I thought of a solution on my own. He/She insisted the characters he/she deleted were guests characters until we were both blue in the face. I simply changed the Recurring cast title to "Recurring and guest cast and Characters" so that way he/she might agree to drop the war. Seekeroftruth469 (talk) 08:05, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Lost Season 6.

[edit]

If people post a movie in bits and sections on YouTube, is that okay? No, it's a violation of our copyright policy on Wikipedia. We've been figuring out a way to post up the fact that new footage has leaked, but we need reliable sources. YouTube, unless an official YouTube, is not a reliable source. And that account isn't official. Also, when writing on someone's talk page, please note the "new section" tab at the top of the page. If you're not comfortable starting a "new section", many people aren't, then please add your comments at the bottom of the page, as is standard procedure. I assure you, we are working to include all of the newly released footage, in a proper way. If you'd like to help, please see the talk pages of the respective articles, especially here. If there's anything else I can help with on Wikipedia, please don't be afraid to contact me. Thank you and happy editing. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:11, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see, well I wasn't meaning any harm. I'm new to Wikipedia and well I'm still learning the ins and outs of the site. I don't do vandalism and try my best to contribute.Seekeroftruth469 (talk) 21:18, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I completely understand. I just re-read my message and noticed I may have sounded a little mean. I apologize for this. As I said, if I can help in any way, please, don't be afraid to stop by my talk page and ask. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:24, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Legend of the Seeker. Blank pages can confuse readers, and are overall not helpful to the Wikipedia project; furthermore, blanking a page is not the same as deleting it.

If the article you blanked is a duplicate of another article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please use the appropriate deletion process. Yeah I didn't mean to blank the page, I don't know how that happened. Sorry. Seekeroftruth469 (talk) 06:11, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sword of Truth

[edit]

First, please calm down. Second, you asked for a quote: "While this very well may be an April Fools joke..." there it is. I made it clear in the edit summary that all you needed to do was provide a source. No reason to come to my talk page with an attitude, just provide a source, problem solved.

Alright fine...I'm sorry...still exciting isn't it? Seekeroftruth469 (talk) 03:36, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
