"Kaphrao" or "kraphao"

[edit]

You recently changed the RTGS spelling from kraphao to kaphrao in the article Ocimum tenuiflorum. As far as I know, the pronunciation and RTGS spelling for Thai: กะเพรา is kraphao according to this website. Do you have a better source than this perhaps? - Takeaway (talk) 14:06, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for improving the caption. I do hope you realize that the edit summary here is entirely unacceptable. Please don't do that again. --Onorem (talk) 00:16, 21 December 2013 (UTC) Sorry about that. This particular dude has done a lot of weird edits and reverts and has been annoying a lot of people, so I just couldn't control myself when he yet again reverted me.SeeingMole (talk) 03:21, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Northern Thai language

[edit]

Dear SeeingMole,
Thank you for your contribution on the Northern Thai language page.
In reference to สูเขา, I will put it back on the page. I thought the intended word was สูเจ้า. Does it mean "he/she" or "you"?
มึง, albeit rare, does exist in Northern Thai. I have seen it various times in Northern Thai texts (from นิทานใบลาน). Just because it is rare, it does not mean that it does not exist in the language.
As for ตั๋วเก่า, hitherto I have always thought that it corresponded to the Thai reflexive pronoun ตัวเอง as in เปิ้นตี๋ตั๋วเก่า = "เขาตีตัวเอง". It is clearly reflexive here. In fact my dictionary says that it means "self, masc. or fem.; myself, yourself, himself, also". Please explain its possessive function.
Looking forward to your response.
Best,
--Alif Silpachai (talk) 05:18, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I guess ตั๋วเก่า is reflexive then. สูเขา, for example สูเขาไปไหนมา (พวกคุณไปไหนมา) I believe it's plural you. SeeingMole (talk) 05:29, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear SeeingMole,
If I may take the liberty of informing you, I have put สูเขา back on the page. If there are other mistakes please let me know if you would be so kind.
Best,

Great. I'd say it's probably more informal than formal.

Invitation to help create Northern Thai Wikipedia

[edit]

Dear SeeingMole,
If you haven't heard already, there is a group of people who want to create a Northern Thai Wikipedia. Seeing that you speak Northern Thai, I'd like to invite you to support the creation ([1]). You can support by voting for the creation. And I'd like to also invite you to create pages there ([2]). In order to make the creation come true, we need more contributors.
Please help spread the word
Thank you so much for your help

To be quite frank. I have no opinion about this at all. First of all, in order to be able to write kam muang properly, one would not be able to use the Thai script, but the muang script. Not so many people are really able to read this script. So any pages in this language will be kinda like classical Chinese, which is for people with special interest only. I would probably not be so very interested to be involved in it. Especially not if it's going to be written with the Thai script. But since I don't know the muang cript at all, I won't be able to participate if it's used either.
