Image license problem

[edit]

I have tagged all of these images as having no licenses because you applied the incorrect license to them.

The first three also all appear to be the same image. All of these are copyrightable images, not uncopyrightable as you listed them. If the source of the image is known, a fair use rationale might be possible - however probably not for the second. (I live in Dearborn however and can get a better picture than that one.) If the images are not correctly licensed they will soon be deleted. Rmhermen 01:27, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah

[edit]

I noticed you started the article Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah. I wanted to bring a few issues to your attention. First, there was a question in Wikipedia:Reference desk/Science#Father of the Solar Cell where a reader was confused because the Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah article describes him as the father of the solar cell, but the Solar cell article does not mention him.

Also, the article does not give the sources for the information in the article. Articles should not be in Wikipedia unless the information in them can be verified by looking in reliable publications (WP:RS). I have added the unreferenced template to the article to indicate that references should be added.

Finally, the article states that this engineer was a Fellow of the IEEE, but he died in 1935 and the IEEE was not formed until 1963. Perhaps he was a member of the AIEE or the IRE, which merged to become the IEEE. I mention this error on the article's talk page.

If you know of published sources for some or all of the information, please let us know. I would be happy to help put the references in the right format if you are not familiar with how to do that. --Gerry Ashton 21:39, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since no sources have been provided, I have nominated this article for deletion. --Gerry Ashton 18:59, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Love Knots

[edit]

Hello, Seblini. Concerning your contribution, Love Knots, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.indobase.com/holidays/valentines-day/valentine-day-symbols/valentine-love-knots.html. As a copyright violation, Love Knots appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Love Knots has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Love Knots and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Love Knots with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Love Knots.

However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. FreplySpang 02:58, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Arabian_stallion.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Arabian_stallion.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 23:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Masheq.png, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Masheq.png is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Masheq.png, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Image tagging for File:Victoriaj.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Victoriaj.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 12:08, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Victoriaj.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:BritishMandateofpalestine1922.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:13, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

Your mandate map is a big improvement. However the borders of Transjordan are not exactly correct - the jordan-saudi borders were not defined until 1925. see here for a good contemporary map. Colonel Lawrence Martin was in the British forces in Mesopotamia. There is another map here which shows which borders were agreed at the time of the Cairo Conference. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lebanese Canadians, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Halifax (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a search with the contents of List of Median household income of cities in Canada, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Highest-income census metropolitan areas in Canada. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. VWBot (talk) 00:14, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File:Levant.png missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Levant.png is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 18:00, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Byblos bank logo.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Byblos bank logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:06, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
