RfC/User on PCPP

[edit]

Hello. Please be aware that I have opened an RfC about the conduct of PCPP (talk · contribs). --Asdfg12345 01:53, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

? OK. Thank you. I'll read it, though I don't think I can really comment. Maybe I'll try... Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 05:17, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Forget my rhetoric, which I regret, but the clear pattern of deleting and not discussing, or raising specious discussion points, needs to be addressed. --Asdfg12345 03:18, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello mopper

[edit]

Someone said that two administrators are talking with me. I thought it was only one, Kingpin. But then I looked again and I see you are an administrator.

I said sorry to those two but one of them just wiped out the sorry. Sorry to see that :(

JB50000 (talk) 05:44, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an admin outside of this "jurisdiction". Read my page again. Apart from that, I find it slightly disturbing that you see the need to display a different conduct depending on someone's perceived "status". Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 05:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

*psst*

[edit]

The 610 Office is a CCP thing, not a Falun Gong thing. It's mission was originally to persecute Falun Gong, but later expanded. If I'm not supposed to edit that page, that will need to be clarified to me. If you look at the substance of the change, you may consider making an assessment about whether PCPP's behaviour is reasonable. That is, if you apply the same standards to all editors. A similar thing has happened on Mass line. It's rather unfortunate. --Asdfg12345 03:17, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll go for AGF here. But you do realize this is very much borderline, no? Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 03:20, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. It's clearly borderline. I am also interested in understanding why you choose to act on in this, but are happy to not say anything about PCPP's clearly disruptive behaviour and nonsensical argumentation.--Asdfg12345 03:45, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When I step away and look at the larger picture, all I'm seeing is a pot and a kettle. I guess the difference is that one of the two cooking utensils is currently on some sort of restriction, and a pot has a different shape. Iuno. Go fight it out. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 04:21, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The original author removed the prod tag, I've listed it for afd. Woogee (talk) 03:18, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JB50000's edit warring over pictures...

[edit]

I saw this going on but wasn't exactly sure how to handle it (I don't know if it's something that I can lock his page for or anything), so I left a request for input at Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests#User with large number of unscaled images on his page. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 05:20, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind his playing around or his need for therapy. But the size is really-I'm-not-kidding about to crash slower browsers. He's effectively making it a punishable offense to look at the talkpage at all. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 05:23, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: SnapComms

[edit]

Hello Seb az86556. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of SnapComms, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Winning an award is a credible assertion of notability. PROD or take to AfD if required. Thank you. GedUK  20:47, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't me who tagged it. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 21:10, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You put the tag back on, the script isn't clever enough to spot the difference. Sorry about that. GedUK  21:21, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Biased Arabic Wikipedia Template

Your help is needed

[edit]

Hey, I need your help with something. There has been an arbitration case over the Asmahan article, I am now not allowed to change the ethnicity or nationality of a person, but I am allowed to propose changes at a talkpage.

An arb explained this situation pretty good: [1] I have now talked with the drafter of the arbitration case, User talk:Wizardman, he has told me that a third part is needed and that I am allowed to invite a neutral editor to take a look at points of corrections I have presented at the talkpage.

The article is in desperate need of neutral editors. I have asked several people to get involved but no one wants to. I have pointed out 7 points of correction at the talkpage: [2]

I would like you to take a look at them and see if changes to the article are needed.

Do you think you can get involved in this? --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 00:46, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what made you ask me, but I have idea about the topic. So... sorry, I won't be of much help. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 01:12, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BLP sticky prod

[edit]

Hi Seb az86556/archive9 ! The template workshop has now split off most of the long threads purely on policy to a new discussion page so that policy can be established while technical development of the template can continue in its own space. When the template functions are finalised, the policy bits can be merged into them. If you intend to continue to contribute your ideas to the development of the template or its policy of use, and we hope you will, please consider either adding your name to the list of workshop members, or joining in with the policy discussions on the new page. --Kudpung (talk) 06:36, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that was a good call; it was getting muddy. I'll stop by later. Thanks! Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 15:11, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Andreu lacondeguy

[edit]

Hello Seb az86556, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Andreu lacondeguy, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: famous for being the only person - is an assertion of importance. Once the sticky prod for unrefed BLPs comes in this sort of thing would be a prime candidate, but I don't consider it an A7. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 12:04, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Seb az86556! I'm just letting you know that it took no more than 30 seconds to improve and reference that article. You may also wish to review the WP:BEFORE guideline before tagging further pages. A quick look before CSDing an article would help combat the accumulation of unsourced BLPs. --Kudpung (talk) 22:36, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Insufficient. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 23:21, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:3rr warning

[edit]

As far as I know, I have yet to make a single revert to any article. In the future you shouldn't be so liberal with your warnings. 24.57.77.99 (talk) 02:46, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The last one was definitely a revert, and next time you start picking on what's supposedly some BLP-violation, you should read what the source says. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 02:54, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, it was not a revert, because it did not change the article back to any previous version of the article. By the way, I did read the source. Can you supply a quote from the source that says anything about people aged 14-25? Another editor has indicated on my talk page that this edit was correct. 24.57.77.99 (talk) 03:00, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not interested in your wiki-lawyering. Now, read the infobox-thingie in the source and get off my talk-page. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 03:02, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of PROD from Leshla2

[edit]

Hello Seb az86556, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Leshla2 has been removed. It was removed by Miss jarad with the following edit summary '(no edit summary)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Miss jarad before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Note re: The Hotel Venus and WP:AIV

[edit]

In your response at WP:AIV, you suggested that the article The Hotel Venus was a copyvio from http://www.crunchyroll.com/library/Hotel_Venus_-_Movie ... but that site specifically states under their text "Source: Wikipedia", so it's not surprising that the text would be the same ... they used Wikipedia's text, not the other way around.

I'm not saying it's not a copyvio from another source, I honestly haven't searched - but crunchyroll.com wasn't a copyvio issue on Wikipedia. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 01:04, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

yepp. Just saw that. But I'd give some credit to the user for being as confused as I was. The edits were in good faith, and not "vandalism" as such. No-one told him/her of the existence of mirror-sites, either. I self-reverted. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 01:07, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You might want to look into that its clearly taken from here asianmediawiki.com/The_Hotel_Venus Coconut2Milk (talk) 01:10, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The text looks different to me, although it obviously describes the same film ... or is it a copyvio from an earlier version from that site? Is there a version on their history tab that's closer to WP's text? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 01:14, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Went through the entire history (luckily, short)... Nope, looks different. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 01:18, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've started a discussion at Talk:The Hotel Venus#Copyright question. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 01:55, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tagging

[edit]

Hi. I think it was a bit WP:BITEy to tag Aviral Goel as a test page the same minute it was created. Granted, it contained only "Av", but this was a newbie quite possibly confused between "Show preview" and "Save page"; also granted that it was probably going to turn into a NN autobiography, but still it would have been better to give him some time to make a page, and then perhaps userfy it to his user page if it turned out to be an autobio. As it is, we have probably scared away a possibly useful editor. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:48, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
